  1. He may actually fit in to the system better than a 4-4-2, Wide right and not so far forward, les slikely to be offside every 30 seconds. DMG played left midfield under Burley, may be a better balance with DMG left & BWP right, although I'd prefer to seea "mentally fit" Skacel at LB & Surman on the left wing, leaving the pace with BWP on the right, then we get passing and brains on one side and pace on the other
  2. Is it just me or does Lallana look like a refugee from Sudan without a suntan?
  3. No I don't bait him hence the smiley, was just trying to get an answer not get "hit with the negative vibes Moriarity"... Like I said, he's made his point and that's fair and has his valid opinion on things, I may join him in doom and gloom land, but not until the loan window closes and I am also unfortunately a realist and STILL haven't found a viable alternative to what we're trying to do as a strategy. (although I may suggest that we could alter the implementation when I finally have an opinion on things!)
  4. Yikes! What game did YOU watch? We were torn to shreds every time they attacked and from the first touch in the match by Gillett which just looped up into the air, we seemed incapable of passing the ball. Sitting in a pub with non-saints fans, trust me it was a hide your head when you walk out performance. Especially after what we had been led to expect. QPR was a far better performance, but agree time to rest some of the youngsters
  5. He was due to have his scan yesterday. Any rumours? (Other than Alpine's) :-)
  6. JP is learning as he goes along. He and the kids are all making schoolboy errors But they are tending to only make them ONCE, and we are starting to see adjustments and tweaks The system is the way to go, but it still needs work and the right players aren't in the right places yet. WHEN it settles down and starts to work THEN tweaks can happen during the game and we can mix it up with switches to 4-4-2. Under Lawrie we always saw wingers switching sides, players moving around but never under GB. Yes the squad is weak and I REALLY hope we have a few bob left to find one more defender, OR get Skacel back up to speed OR get him out on loan to free up some cash for a loan signind. We saw (or heard) yesterday that there could be footballing reasons why JP isn't playing them - SJ seemed not to have the speed of thought to keep up 2 weeks of the loan window left I think, IMHO our season will depend more on what happens in the window than on the results of Ipswich & Barnsley
  7. Should have closed the top 6 or 10 rows in Kingsland & Chapel and the Kingsland corners Chapel Itchen & Northam Itchen could then have stayed open and the ground would have looked fuller. very difficult to sing when nobody sits within 20 feet of you. Then it becomes self fulfilling = no atmosphere around you so you stop bothering. The argument is actually irrelevant though some hard work (ok a miracle) to tidy up the defence and some proper WINS while playing good football and some will start to come back. Then a decent result at Rotherham and a good home draw in the cup will help But we'll not do that will we, this is skintsaints we're talking about
  8. but what to do? Some say cheaper tickets, but because we sold season tickets that means we'd have to go to the bank and ask for a bigger overdraft so we can give money back to those who gave it to us early. I am sure that English contract law and the armies of lawyers you guys have these days would be all over the club on behalf of season ticket holders if their "buy match tickets in bulk discount" was shown to not have been true (think it's called misrepresentation) Not an easy problem to solve. You could offer one game for say 18 quid and then give the season ticket holders a voucher to get in to a cup game for a fiver, but that also is a big assumption - that we actually GET a home game in either of the cups. We really made a rod for our own backs when we launched the early bird scheme and set the price for the season tickets. Unfortunately for many, that was before Lowe's return so we can't actually blame him now that his hands are tied. I agree something SHOULD be done, the trouble is - what can we do that takes into account the season ticket holders and doesn't upset THEM or break the law?
  9. Does she want to buy a football club? Unfortunately down here we sort of have to take whatever we can get when the boat comes in. Still have a Brouilly chilling in the wine fridge amongst some Chateau Neuf du Pape's. It has a padlock these days ever since my kids had a party in April and HALF drank a 400 quid bottle of Lindemans Museum Release Chardonnay... meanwhile, still trying to find out what wine the earlobes was on last night in the Director's box. My bet is 1.99 claret from Boots the Chemist (cutbacks n all) but CAN reveal there was no truth in the rumours that the finger buffet was actually supplied by KFC. It was suppoosed to be but Master Bates intercepted it and finished for lunch today
  10. I'm sure when they posed for this they never realised what some evil photo googler could do with their picture. you should save the thread, find out where the phot came from and let them know the response:-)
  11. Ok so we're clear there are no rednecks in Arizona then. Phew, that's a relief no need to DHL any KY gel then
  12. Now I can understand a cold Brouilly or Saumur but WHO drinks Bogealays
  13. Hmm Spoke to Saintlee last week, still nursing his Barry the Briefcase wounds, (should be out of therapy in a couple of years BTW). Seems the decision to go with the fiver was somewhat 'fiercely debated" At the end of the day it is NO FOOKIN DIFFERENT FROM OUR FOOKIN FOOTBALL TEAM. Great potential but the results just ain't there = where's all the added features chaps? The wavering majority need to see quality, experience, some clear direction, entertainment and better value for money. they've been conned too long by the Football is a business now story and need to be able to look up our fixture list, directions to the away games etc results chaps results
  14. Always check the ankles on the first date. (You check the important bits BEFORE the first date for those wondering)
  15. Actually all of the above a large supply of Champagne and a jumbo sized bottle of baby oil wouldn't be a real big issue TBH But if I had to be picky 11 & 12
  16. We sure did in Bangkok oh you meant the movie sorry oops please disregard the previous comment we stayed in and watched TV's all night NO bugger that didn't come out right either, oh sod it
  17. It's in America though? So pretty much same same isn't it? After all the Middle East is like one big country full of Arabs isn't it?:-) and yes I know I saw the Top Gear episode:-)
  18. :-) Actually it's the other way around, we are COMPLETELY fed up with all these fat Brit holidaymaking women coming down here and thinking that us ex-pats are the equivalent of a Spanish Waiter ffs. We are quite happy thankyou very much, we have our own Emirates girls (who all have to be the RIGHT shape thank you very much), OR the Eastern European girls who came down as low cost labour but have stayed on to outsmart most of the Europeans in business but the WORST thing about them is that unlike us locals who know how to go out get monged but BEHAVE ourselves they are just bringing that WHOLE Brit/Bling/Chav/City Center vomitting in the street crap into a MUSLIM society. They simply DON'T understand that there are rules here! The Brit brat chicks - what on EARTH makes them think that just because they are p*ssed WE are 1) interested in talking about the English Weather, 2) interested in talking about Gordon Brown/David Cameron/TV non-celebs we've never heard of or 3) want to have SEX with them. YUK. In the OLD days you had to dress up smart and wear nice aftershave and have a good line in banter to pull in a bar or club. today you simply have to know where the nearest Dunkin Donuts is so you can get them a takeaway on the way home We are NOT being Sizeist here, it's just that FAR too many of them have decided to "stay on after their hols and try and get a job" which means they are polluting the gene pool, then spend all their time talking at you about their "real estate job" and trying to find out how YOU could help THEM make money.... No we're not peeved at all:-) just nimby's!
  19. nope, it's the stupid arrogant f**kwit who screwed up the whole having fun in Dubai thing for us Brits down here, and caused a crackdown that has had around 200 people arrested since No need to google her the stupid cow is all over every Brit paper there is. She'd have got away with it and left the rest of us with the status quo that's been here for years, but oh no, she HAD to mouth off to the Sun. As for earlobes - where's the photos then trousers? and no idea if sleeves were short a suit is normal attire in there:-)
  20. Oh, and another thing that shows Ashley is a complete c*ck is the way he let's the world know he has problems, needs to get out and THEN expects one of the World's more educated and intelligent leaders to pay 3 times the value of the business. Sooner he sods off out of here the better. As a desirable Brit in Dubai I'd put him and his mates at the same level as Michelle Palmer Hmm in fact may pop down there tonight and tell him to his face
  21. That story sounds like bullsh*t PR spin from someone in the media who has it in for Ashley.. 1) It is Ramadan. All businesses, work a reduced 6 hour day as muslim employees are fasting. Virtually all the Dubai Holdings/DIC operations work 08:00 until 14:00 2) Bars are only allowed to open to serve alcohol from 19:30 - 01:00 3) The Dubai Government team will be local Gulf Arabs (the Al-Hashimi's are a large and well respected family) the evenings are a time for sitting, talking, reflecting local culture and eating 4) There would not be a "business meeting" in the evening, there may be an invitation to attend a Ramadan tent. Any evening meeting would be a relationship building "social meet" Anyone attempting to come down here and do business without understanding the culture, especially at this time of the year always fails, but in this case the concept of having a meeting at night to discuss a multi-million pound project and to expect to get a deal done. LMFAO
  22. arrrggghhh That's HORRIBLE, even when fresh.
  23. Last September I was tasked with the awesome role of arranging my mate's stag week..... In Bangkok.... Boy we were sooooooo BAD. We did all those things you should never do on a Stag trip. Shopping, getting new suits, visiting temples, canal boat trips, fine dining........ honest
  24. Fook that. Bacon butty for me mate dripping in HP Sauce yummmm
  25. I agree, he won't... He'll be loaned next week with an option to buy so we can afford some defenders:-)
