Think everyone's been been waiting for that:-) Ah yes that he will except they'll be "ex-academy or "late developing youngsters". However who's actual IDEA was it? SCW's or Rupert's? Or did they nick it from Glenn when he was here? Or even, more worryingly Simon Clifford's hey it's almost pleasant to speculate on history for a change instead of saying wish they hadn't done something......

I agree totally with your point, but one thing to remember is that different Nationalities have different upbringings and different life expectations. For some the career is all, for others it is glory and for some of course it is the money. The only thing I am learning about the whole Skacel issue is that he knows what is really going on and we don't. For all we know money MAy be the only objective - IF you are nearing the end of your career then every pound he can take now gives him a better life. Equally, for all we know he could have stopped bothering because he's busy running some sort of property business or even getting a UEFA coaching badge. From the (totally) unsubstantiated rumours I've heard (from the bloke that washes out the insides of the cement trucks next door to SMS) if Davies took a pay cut to come here it can't have been a very big one....

I haven't sh*gged Lucy Pinder

Or possibly they are a "last resort" when all else has completely failed or an injury crisis becomes so bad then they can be added to the squad and play after we ask Barclays nicely for the extra 50 quid to cover it. In this case non-statements don't make anyone look stupid in print later Just lets us speculate that they are stupid in print on here

What? The Glenn Hoddle Academy has nothing to do with Glenn Hoddle??? :-) His signing is nothing to do with Hoddle - agreed - but the concept of changing the Academy system because it ONLY "nurtures" players up until the age of 18 and many are lost to the game because they develop later has been quoted in interviews relating to the appointment of SCW if anyone can 1) remember or 2) google that far back Hoddle then opens an Academy in Spain to do the same thing. Completely unrelated of course And we start pulling in youngsters out of thin air aged around 18-21, which is of course simply down to being skint and was never thought about before
-
So the next xtep is to see who in the City invested in Hoddle's Academy..... And then to find out whether it was his idea, SCW's or Ruperts.. Trousers!

The so called Curse of the Quantum of Solace continues as yet another stunt car being driven for the opening title shoot finally comes to land after careering off the the side of a lake in the Italian Alps

No (For further information kindly refer to the previous posts I've made reference the ORIGINAL reason and interviews at the time that SCW was appointed (can't be arsed to type it ALL out again for the 150th time) :-)

You know what WS? I reckon someone somewhere is trying to advise you to get out of the trade or at least that pub. What with being sued and being robbed, don't sound like anyone really wants to have you around.......

Precisely my thoughts. Holmes has a serious knee injury. We had another player with one of those some years ago, not saying it is the same but a wise man takes precautions and cover
-
Looks a sensible signing. With the 1-2-1 up front, not having natural wide players causes problems the shape goes wrong as well as problems in getting the ball in the box as well as the whole covering back thing. DMG & BWP really aren't wingers so this seems cover while Holmes recovers. For a club who's finances are melting down we keep bringing more youngsters into the squad.....

Bleah, sorry mortalled.... OK so my mate the DJ was given a surprise 30th bash last night. His missus has JUST turned 18.. The party included his biggest p*ss head mates, local radio jocks and his mum, sister and her squeeze. Humourously it also included his girlfriends parents. After 3 hours of an all you can eat and drink buffet for 20 quid, the birthday cake came and some bright spark suggested that everyone should tell a little story about the b'day boy. (Ha her class mates cooked the effing b'day cake in home economics FFS!) Oh dear as parents it must have been hard enough to come to terms with your "baby" sh*gging a 30 year old p*ss head for 18 months in a country where that officially makes him a Gary Glitter (legal age is 18 here) but to then have his mates regale the table with tales of his drunken and debauched existence here in Dubai for the past 10 years was 1) funny as fook and 2) horrifying for the parents.... They sort of mumbled a few words about lost childhood and went home early with mum in tears.... the one liner that got them was when my mate told him not to worry about the age gap, he'd soon be able to upgrade to a 9 year old and have an age gap as bad as me..... (mind you I've got 20 years on the youngster so no I DON'T have a 9 year old chick...) Then we went and had a few drinks, think we set a new record for a single round - 34 Jaeger bombs followed by 34 Bullfrogs with everyone having to down the pints of Bullfrog in one go. Oh how we barfed The party continues tonight - damn where did I put my spare liver?

The National Front for the prevention of sizism won't approve but I lol'd http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/3126784/Fat-couple-too-heavy-for-plane-to-take-off.html "We couldn't believe that we were too heavy for the plane to take off." "It was a decent-sized plane full of holidaymakers so it was devastating to be told that even a big plane like that couldn't cope with all our weight being at the back."
-
The not eat much for lunch scheme was somewhat undermined by the 6 Bullfrogs and 3 JaegerBombs that heralded the evening all you can eat and drink entertainment at the mate's 30th party. Anyway, suffice to say I am still the coolet old fart in Dubai so up his....... (his misses is only a mere 13 years younger than him. I win - mine's 21 years younger woot!) Mind you her mum and dad were there tonight they ain't happy bunnies lol

I think they were really cute in their tv series, especially the cuddly yellow one oh

What would you do if Mike Ashley bought Saints next?
dubai_phil replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
It could quite easily happen in the next couple of weeks. Man C are funded "effectively" by a Government. The top 4 currently are funded by borrowings. Man U & Liverpool were leveraged buy-outs from the US using many of the people currently drowning in the banking system collapse. Arsenal have bond-holders debt which is more secure and Chelsea have Abramovich acting as guarantor. It is now becoming almost impossible to even get a car loan in the US, as people simply stop lending to each other. At the moment the "loans" against Man U & Liverpool are secured against the assets and "goodwill" of the clubs, but if the financial system keeps melting down there is no way to know for certain whether, sooner or later those loans may have to be called in. Any sign that the future incomes of PL clubs could not contiinue to grow exponentially (see GM's article on Saintsweb) and somebody somewhere could decide that Man U become a sub prime loan as well. Dangerous times for anyone in any form of business, and football is not immune to it, they SHOULD be all right, but then so should have been the Titanic -

The thing is that us Saints fans have already totally rejected the concept that Ashley wanted to IMPOSE at Newcastle. How many go on about Delgado, how many go on about players being signed that they believe only Rupert wants? The Directcors decide who is bought and sold not the manager, we've had months of abusive posts about this type of thing. What does Ashley know about running a football club? You expect JP to manage the players bought for him by a Dennis Wise clone? Ashley is a businessman who has seen his reputation burnt by his "dallying" with football. It is a lesson for ANY self-made millionaire wanting to get into football for an "egotistical" reason. What he needs to do is get SOME return on his investment - and in this current global crunch it is not certain he'll find a buyer - go away and get his own business and investment protfolio making money again, THEN he can look to come back. Saints will have moved on by then, either we have stabilised and don't need an egotist to rip out the kids and replace them with "names" OR we'll have gone bust. Love the idea of loadsa money Hate the idea of it being him, so I'm firmly in the we fooked up before in our choice of takeover, not this bloke even though we need the money -
Nice Ham, mustard, tomato & Branston Sandwich on Granary with a packet of Sea Salt & Crushed Black peppercorn Kettle chips washed down with a glass of Robinsons orange Barley water. Nice & light as tonight it's a mate/local radio DJ's surprise 30th party at an all you can eat and drink and drink and drink for 20 quid place.... His missus booked the ENTIRE restaurant - about 120 people going...... Don't think there'll be enough booze..............

Meanwhile I suffered from Sciatica for years - in my case it was cuased by being a field sales guy and driving a Sierra then Mondeo - the steering column is not central so you sit slightly twisted. Did all the doctor, hospital, ultrasound etc, but the best thing was to lay flat on your back with no pillow under your head, and have about 3 or 4 pillows under your knees. the hospital actually supplied weird glasses with a prism so I could lay flat like that and watch telly at the same time. Never really goes away, just moves around with old age. Currently the best cure I've found down here is 29 & Polish which gives the whole knees propped up routine a new angle. Doesn't cure the sciatica but she makes me forget the pain for an hour or two... HTH

To a large majority of Saints fans Rupert is a c*** He is viewed as arrogant and castigated for making the wrong decisions Ashley is viewed as an arrogant fool who is being castigated by the Newcastle fans for making the wrong decisions. Remember that old adage - a fool and his money are soon parted. Let's swap one proven bad decision maker for another one. Good plan, but we support it because Ashley doesn't have a posh accent and we think he has some money. That's how we got into this mess in the first place! Oh and BTW, like many other "independently wealthy" people at this point in time, Ashley is losing money faster than banks go bust. We'll just swap a c*** with no money of his own for a fool with (eventually) no money of his own. The word on the street here is that he came to Dubai to "rip someone off" for 400mil for Newcastle. The guys here aren't stupid, they'll give him 10p in the pound when he finally gets desperate.... -
