  1. Well that could be fun. So you have now posted that. In order to take you to court, H would have to show that you have lied, OR you would have to show that you were right. So what it REALLY would mean is that you withdraw your life savings and send it to a lawyer..... Hmmmm Now THAT's a good idea. Will set up an ambulance chasing type legal firm and trawl web sites and find people like you that I can take to the cleaners. brilliant! Thanks I'll bung you a couple of percent of the shares and do free legal service when you get taken to court
  2. Sounds like a plan Stan but will have to check timings to see if it clashes with my weekly "aerobics exercise" plan. Tis one thing to watch a game on the sofa with the chick in the shirt exercising on your lap, another to get to do it in the pub..... (well at least over here it is!) But we play in Flint when we are away, it looks Grey but it sure ain't spelt Ghey Oh and on the investment front. The exchange rate bit is right and also there is ONE critical point to bear in mind. The large independent corporations here across the ME (ie NOT the property ones) WILL have funds to invest WHEN prices are at rock bottom AND there looks to be a timeline for recovery. The CRITICAL thing is for us to actually still have a club AND ASSETS that can be sold WHEN that happens. Behind the scenes at SMS they have a REALLY hard juggling act to play, but they do know they need to stay in the game one way or another for when things start to ease up globally. IF we can survive to January and things have stopped collapsing outside of our virtual world of SMS & TSW then there is still hope.....
  3. the way things are at the moment, if we have to wait for a couple of decent home wins sounds like it is more likely to be a one third or one quarter season ticket campaign.......
  4. And, we actually have SOME equity in our stadium, partly through what we have paid to date and partly because of the jump in property values in the period since we actually obtained the land (although it is going down faster than MB on Lucy) So although we have the bank overdraft problem that HAS to be addressed we aren't quite dead yet
  5. and in another few weeks of politics up & down results and economic gloom that will read think this thing about factions of supporters is a bit inaccurate -don't think there are many supporters for our side
  6. Shoot your source... Even on our coldest and darkest January nights I still ain't seen no local with a tank-top on over his dish-dash
  7. lolage it just gets worse and worse for them Bentley out of Spurs squad after frank interview October 23, 2008 Tottenham midfielder David Bentley was left out of the squad to face Udinese in the UEFA Cup tonight - less than 24 hours after his outspoken assessment of the club's start to the season. Bentley's comments about Tottenham's worst start to a season included suggestions players had little idea what they were doing, with the result being two points from their first eight Barclays Premier League games. During their wretched start, Bentley has lost his place in the England squad and has also been played in a variety of different positions by head coach Juande Ramos. Bentley was billed as one of the finest right-wingers in England following his arrival from Blackburn in the summer for a deal starting at £15million - but the loss of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane meant he had to play as a support striker at times. He has played all across the midfield and also had a stint at right-back. The 24-year-old had a meeting with Ramos about playing in different positions and then insisted he was "fully behind him, 100%'' during an interview where he also admitted the club had become a laughing stock. Then, on the eve of the UEFA Cup clash against Udinese at Stadio Friuli, Bentley was quoted by talkSPORT magazine as saying: "We've not been together; we didn't know where people were running, what people were doing. But I think we're slowly starting to get settled and people are becoming more confident.''
  8. Enjoy yourself while here, but watch out for the poo on the beach:-) And your brother will be one of many who is wise, compared to the many with their heads in the large amounts of sand we have down here. Make sure you get your regulation Bullfrog down yer neck :-)
  9. This has been THE single most startling and revealing thread in a long time. OMG there is a person in this world who DOESN'T know who HAL was..... WTF is happening to this planet? I suppose we'll find someone who has never heard of Kelly's Heroes next

  12. Subway, white or Sesame. gentle squirt of extra mayo, then simply Tuna, Tomato & a sprinkling of Jalapeno's. Take away and grind fresh black pepper on it and a shake of salt Which is ALMOST as good as HOT Crispy Fried Bacon with fried onions and mushrooms in a thick sliced cobb with lashings of HP Sauce but we'd done the bacon stuff before so....
  13. Cheers. The lad was neither the first nor the last to be sitting in a hotel late at night and saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. I won't knock the post, nor your posting, that's fine, as again I had issues with GB and with an old TSF'er we saw something we felt was wrong and posted that. In this instance, my feelings are. Wilde should not have been sitting up until 5am drinking with the manager. But on it's own, that is an error of judgement, not a hanging offence, there ARE times and places where that COULD be justified (even in the weird PC world of the UK these days) but it sure as heck seems really dumb to do it the night before a game. The point is that he could have been there to keep GB in some sort of control/talk him out of leaving/let him spill his worries/get GB to dish dirt on the execs to help remove them, we don't really know that side. The fact the lad got fired by Oldknow for "not keeping the company line" and not by Wilde is again not a surprise if we think back to those "halycon days" of the execs. After all EVEN the 3 amigos met TOGETHER in "secret" to try and do something about them. In theory, the only hole in the story is that it could also have been GB who "reported the lad's comments" to his "managers" or even other people sitting in the bar at the time. It isn't totally clear in a "court of law" sort of way. The ONLY thing to keep in mind through all of this is the fact that the good ship SLH is in a real mess and everyone at the club at the moment is in your words "uneasy" at SMS at present and with what is lurking around so he should be

  16. In answer and so Dubai Saint knows Goodfellas Jay frequents the pub of that name for televised games. Eric is a bottled real ale drinker who stops airplanes crashing and frequents said Goodfellas Phil is an IT type who frequents Rock Bottom and has been known to sip the occassional Bullfrog and occassionally fights the traffic down to Goodfellas. So in answer although the Players Lounge at The Country Club Hotel is easier to get to, goodfellas is sort of where we go. trouble is 1) rush hour traffic is a ***** and 2) we are always cr*p on the telly And back on subject, did Dubai look at Saints? There is anecdotal evidence from friends down here that they may well have done, simply because when they go into a project they do a GREAT deal of research about ALL the opportunities, but as I said above, re Zabeel, it came as no surprise they are stopping looking at football because just about EVERY corporation/investment fund down here are stopping every project they can until things calm down in the global market. While we may lol at Charlton it does also reduce the options available to SLH PLC to keep the club as an attractive investment opportunity whilst having sufficient funds to keep operations running. It is a very difficult time right now for MANY football club chairmen. (not least Liverpool)
  17. OK I think someone has far too much time at work today I got a Holelottolove but have no idea who sang hornyarsedrangerover

A recent scientific study found that women find different male faces attractive depending on where they are in their menstrual cycle. For example, when a woman is ovulating she will prefer a man with rugged, masculine features. However, when she is menstruating, she prefers a man doused in petrol and set on fire, with scissors stuck in his eye and a cricket stump shoved up his backside.
  22. OK we have seen recently that anyone can google and stuff that we post can come up. My daughter (trainee lawyer) just found this in her research for a project..... Sheffield Wednesday Football Club Ltd & others v. Hargreaves (2007) Hargreaves (the defendant) was the owner and operator of owlstalk.co.uk which invites fans of Sheffield Wednesday (if any!) to post messages on matters regarding the club. The action was brought by the club and 7 of its directors, who felt that 11 comments placed on the website consisted of a 'sustained campaign of vilification against them' and that the comments posted were false and defamatory. The club sought to pursue libel proceedings against the individuals who posted the messages, however brought an action in the first instance to compel Hargreaves to release the details of the authors of the blogs. It was decided that four of the eleven postings could "reasonably be understood to allege greed, selfishness, untrustworthiness and dishonest behaviour" on the part of the club and the directors and were more than just "saloon bar moanings". The court ordered the details of the 4 authors of the potentially defamatory statements to be released as the right for the directors to maintain their reputations outweighed the right of the authors to protect their anonymity. The 4 bloggers are now facing costly libel action, and if their posts are found to be defamatory they may have to pay out damages amounting to £10,000s! One of the authors was based in Florida, and the club are now pursuing him in the US...

    1,000 mph car

Nah we have loads of those over here. All driven by total mongs everyday of the week on Sheikh Zayed Road
  24. The local immigration office lost my son's passport when he put it in to have his visa renewed, 36 hours before we left on holiday. We phoned the embassy, they told us the process to get a Police report. We did all that and went to the embassy at 11:00am. In the queue in front was a Brit businessman/tourist type giving it all large about how important he was and how he demanded to see the manager because he simply HAD to have his passport back the same day. The clerks put up with it, took his paperwork and said they would do it urgently and it would be ready in 10 days. I went to the window and said, I'm really sorry but immigration lost the passport and we were supposed to go on family holiday the next day, I understood they couldn't do anything but was it possible they could try and get it quicker than 10 days. The lass said wait here, walked off, told us to take a seat for 10 minutes. After 20 minutes I was getting worried as I had to call the travel agent to try and rebook hotels and flights when she came back with a big smile and gave me his new passport. Moral of the story, they are actually REALLY helpful and professional, but just say please and thankyou and sorry rather than "Do you know how important I am".....
  25. As in the Charlton Thread, and in answer to the questions No (but they may well have done once upon a time, who can tell?) Not necessarily No - we don't do Bullfrogs on a Sunday. The two major suppliers of Mortgages to buyers here have had to merge as they cannot raise enough funds cheaply enough to lend to people who want to buy property, and the "flood" of "Western Investors" who had been brainwashed into investing every dime they had into property speculation have also dried up. This leads to a potential disaster scenario as those properties are still being built by the developers but they don't have buyers for them....... So in other words, the guys down here have more pressing problems and places to use their liquidity than in football. (Oh and by the way, I told you so...... When Charlton made the announcement I pointed out that when dealing with businesses in this region you simply DON'T jump the gun and make the locals lose face or marketing opportunities) #59 Today, 09:53 AM dubai_phil Full Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Just where it says on the label Posts: 2,868 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote: Originally Posted by dubai_phil Interesting that Charlton announced this on a Friday, when the Dubai guys at Zabeel Investments were closed for the weekend. But London is the key, followed by closeness to an International Airport, but the last year of a parachute payment would have made a big difference. Zabeel will have funds but will also be very careful with them. Smug grinning smiley winkey thingy.......
