  1. It was from one blue chip to a much bigger blue chip. Not double the money but significant.
  2. I recently got head hunted for a new job that offered a decent pay rise. I turned it down for my current employer who I believe offer me the best long term career development and job satisfaction. That's as close as a comparison I can think of for a footballer. If I was playing regularly for a good team and getting international call ups, was settled and happy I wouldn't move for more money and risk my career unless I knew it was right. Maybe Chambers thought he could step up. Why wouldn't he? He's probably been told his whole entire life that he's great. Must be difficult not to believe the hype. Shame it seems to have wasted his potential. Maybe he'll regain it but I can't see it short term.
  3. Ha! I do love a good attendance debate with them. They literally have nothing for 70 years. Even in their most successful season in living memory they couldn't sell out their shed. Then who remembers FA Cup final tickets being on general sale near enough up to the day? Getting lower attendances than us when 2 divisions higher? Various campaigns to give tickets to school kids/Navy/anybody with a pulse...all for free, despite the club needing the money more than ever? And my favourite, the hilarious #PackThePark failure. All this within the last few years. They have to go back to some random game against Oldham in the 80s to find a low attendance for us. And that says it all. 12-15k is great **for the 4th division** but if Us, Leeds, Forest, Derby or almost any other regular top 2 division club dropped that low, they'd beat that number regularly. Even Bradford weren't that far off it. The thing is, nobody else has failed like they have. They're nothing special. They're the 'Wigan of the South' - just worse and without the rugby town excuse.

Although they were Cortese deals, Gaston and Osvaldo are on roughly that apparently. We've freed up a bit of wages in releasing 6 players. One or both of Clyne and Morgan will free up more and if we can manage to offload one or both of the Cortese boys then that leaves a fair bit to play with. I'd say he's worth it.
  5. If Clyne ends up staying (big if) then selling Chambers for £16m could be a hell of a deal. Would be nice to keep some of these academy boys though.
  6. Nearly 40 years since we won a major trophy. Need to change that.
  7. If we finished 8th we wouldn't have qualified. So we qualified via our league position. As did Liverpool. Love that they still go on and on and on about what they purchased without realising that's the reason they are where they are. Long may it continue.
  8. Thought he was one of the bigger "defectors" to be honest as he gave us very little and left so early. That said, him leaving caused such a stir that it prompted Ralph to come out and insist JRod and Morgan was staying.
  9. That kit is hilariously tin pot. Looks like a cheap copy of an early 90s kit. Look at that collar!!!
  10. Koeman would always be my mots but I'm looking through tinted specs. Mark Hughes deserves a mention.
  11. Same was said on 'One Day in May' on BT Sport.
  12. Had to look twice
  13. Let's hope it works. He doesn't seem too hopeful and sounds like he's resigned to losing them. He should also be trying to convince Wanyama too imo.
  14. Somehow ended up on the pitch celebrating Matts goal. Was already down the front of the lower west to get on the pitch at the final whistle. The goal went in and I was bundled on. Looked up and some bloke from the Archers was running towards me. We shared a magical jump/hung/fall by the corner flag before returning to the stand. Thing is I didn't even realise it was MLT that scored.
  15. If Toby didn't get injured he'd be competing with Fonte for the awards. Think Bertrand should get a mention too.
  16. Ya never know. Might be Saints fans. Cos they are our 2nd team, remember?
  17. 5 years ago today the heroes became villains after a 1-0 thrashing in the FA cup final against Chelsea. Since that day it's been bloody hilarious.
  18. Very good point!
  19. Thanks. Already sorted that. Made sure we could afford repayments even if one of us lost our job etc. The reason the ex council house is so appealing is because if the lower price so no chance of overextending ourselves. Just concerned about the potential cons of buying ex council on the edge of an estate. Mainly resale value. Don't want to be stuck. Not too fussed about neighbours as you can get c***s in private areas.
  20. Would be an unbelievable signing. But things that are too good to be true, usually are.
  21. Watched it last night. To be honest if you've read his autobiography and seen the Unbelievable VHS then there's nothing new. Still worth watching though. Includes interviews with Lawrie, Chris Nicholl, Tim flowers, Franny, Mark Crossley, Alan Ball (in 1995), Merrington and a few others.
  22. I'm on the road to buying my first house and starting viewings this weekend. I've noticed quite a few ex council houses up for sale and generally they seem a bit if a bargain. Big kitchens, big gardens etc. The one I'm looking at has been privately owned since 2007 but is one of only about 3 in the road that's private. My concern is the resale value. Is it a job to shift them or is the price just low because of snobbery? It's brick built, semi detached, off road parking and doesn't have that typical council "look" to it. Basically it would cost twice the money if I put it in a posh area. Any advice?
  23. Drove past it today. It's dwarfed little Fratton Park and completely boxed it in. Short term thinking at it's finest. Hilarious.
  24. Superb! Already all over the internet. Our media department is fantastic!
