Look, we know McCarthy can't play it out from the back like a modern keeper. We adjusted for that at the end of last season. We need to do that again now and that includes not passing it back to him when that's the riskier option than turning around and passing forwards. Stephens should not escape blame there.

In fairness the pass from McCarthy was horrendous but we shouldn't be passing back to him in that circumstance. Stephens was further forward than the fucking newcastle player, just turn around and play it forward.

McCarthy mistake makes it 1-0 to Newcastle. Don't need a keeper though.
