Not in the Premier League he hasn't.

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2024-25
Saint_clark replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
I'm not sure Downes will have anyone from the Prem coming in for him so we'll probably still have him. -
Honestly don't think Carsley would give us much more of a chance than we have now as he wants to be hipster with his style of play too. Moyes is the one we need to be going all out for as he is "old school", not in the route one sense but the sense that he actually looks at what he has available and picks a system to get the best out of them rather than picking a system and sticking with it regardless of how well we do.
-
The system works against inferior opposition, it doesn't work against Prem opposition (unless you have a billion to invest in the squad). It's really not that complicated. Harwood Bellis is an excellent young centreback who will play for a title winning side in his career, I have no doubt.

That was 2020 I think during covid lockdown, was a cracking overhead kick with nobody there to see it.
-
Every game it's coached out of him a little more.

Scored again against Andorra as well in 2021.

I don't see much difference between Edozie and Sulemana to be honest, besides Edozie having a bit more skill and Sulemana having a better shot. I agree that I would actually rather see both of them playing and actually attacking fullbacks than what we do now, but there isn't much of a distinction between the two of them.

Dom Ballard just scored for Northern Ireland, assisted by Shea Charles. Edit; not Dom Ballard, a different D. Ballard 😂

Some of us said it would be like this with Martin in charge still.

If we're planning on giving him money to spend in January then I would rather we sack him, sign no-one and try a different style of play under a new manager.
-
Honestly not the worst options in the world.

I asked it "Which manager should Southampton FC hire to replace Russell Martin that is realistic and would give them the best chance of avoiding relegation from the Premier League this season?". It came up with this;

Honestly getting ChatGPT to pick our team and tactics can't do much worse.
-
Honestly I don't know enough about his preferred style of play to have an opinion, but he led the under 21s to a European trophy so there is something about him. Don't think he was right for the senior mens job but doesn't mean he couldn't do something with us.
-
When away fans can't even get themselves up for it that's a sure sign that changes are needed for me.
-
Agreed, but it is still slightly different. I wouldn't be happy with him anyway for the reasons in my second paragraph.
-
Potters style is similar but with more attacking intent. He's certainly been more successful. I don't think he'd make enough of a change for us to turn anything around though. What we need is someone to drastically shake it up and get the players out of their comfort zone, doing something totally different that at bare minimum will take teams by surprise when they play us compared to what we've done so far.
-
I do worry that SR are committed to keeping him for the "5 year project" regardless of how embarrassing this season is. It's been said before that the aim is to be in the Prem at the end of said 5 years and going up/down in the interim doesn't change that. Bloody hope not.
-
"We dominated the ball, we limited them to 8 shots on target" I hope I never find myself within arms reach of this prick.
-
A decent manager could get better performances out of the squad we have right now. We aren't going to be flying up the table, but we could at least be putting up a fight. As it stands we have 4 fucking points after 11 games.
-
For the love of god just offer Moyes a contract to the end of the season with a huge bonus if he keeps us up.

1971 just called and it wants it's Rod Stewart song title back.
