In the interview with him in the programme yesterday, he said that he heard there was interest in him towards the end of the transfer window but, because he wanted to stay here so badly, he turned his phone off on the last day to make sure he couldn't get any offers. He also says he loves the club and the area. All this would explain why he seems to hungry and enthusiastic. Love to hear this kind of thing.

Why did we play Derby and Birmingham off the park?
Saint_clark replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Because they underestimated us. Bit off topic, but JP said in the program that he is "sure we can be the best team in this league if we stick to our principles and believe, believe, believe". -
Just as I reply to you on the other thread, you post this I thought he put in a very good performance last night. Yes, one cross went straight out of play, but he is not a left footed player. His control and touch seemed a lot better, and he timed his runs very well. Play him on the right wing and he will do a very good job IMO- he was scoring for fun from that position in pre-season, and we haven't exactly got someone holding that place down for their own.

screening of back four, tracking back and ball retention

Actually I thought BWP put in one of his best performances for us last night, he was far far more effective than Dyer in any case. And most professional footballers aren't being told to sprint constantly. -
You can't complain about the attendance and then admit you didn't go because we might not win.

I'd be delighted if we finish the season in 21st!
Saint_clark replied to Saintmike666's topic in The Saints
I doubt those two will play at all, but yes it is half the team. So we can stop all this rubbish about "team full of kids" right away - not forgetting of course, that Surman is 21 and Gillett is 23. I'm sure they don't consider themselves to be kids. I actually think Wotton is a hell of a lot better than we thought (much like Holmes) - he seemed to run the show last night. -

The thing is, they're told to sprint after every ball for 60 minutes and then they're exhausted. -
Completely wasted at LB and a liability there as well due to lack of pace.

Killer, John, Perry, Davis and Wotton will all be regulars this season. -
He's been sh*t. He's cost us 5 goals so far this season. I don't always need someone to blame, I just like to express my opinion.
-
Agree with Musesaint. He's been shocking when i've seen him, but I assumed i'd just missed something as he is our top scorer. But when Pekhart came on I could see that McGoldrick was just crap.
-
For some reason I find the fact we are calling Pekhart a nipper quite ridiculous - he's a f*cking monster.

I said this after the first game.

Saints 3-0 Ipswich. COME ON YOU SAINTS!

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=10613 Interesting how he is putting emphasis on his future with Southampton. "My future will be bright with Southampton" etc.

Is the red circle one only meant to be the guy on the left? -
Is it just me who reckons they only wash the lens every 100 days?
-
Nope, because they have no pace. James has cost us at least 4 goals so far this season, Surman at least 2.

Pahar's team played tonight (Amorthosas or something). EDIT- just checked Wikipedia and he was released in january 08. Nevermind, eh.

The most inept performance I've seen in a long, long time...

Awful player, couldn't understand it when people were saying he was who Spurs were replacing Berbatov with. -

For me Pekhart needs to start instead of McGoldrick. He looks a better finisher and more of a threat in general. As for the defense, the main problem is on the wings - Surman and James just don't have enough pace to play there. -

I too don't really get the Dunkirk analogy. It's not like our club is going to become a German speaking racist war machine if we get relegated. -
It's a fair enough view to take, but would it have been fair to ban Martin Taylor for 12 games or more? Yes, if he meant to break Eduardos leg, no if he didn't. It's too fine a line for me. It's not exactly a unique case - just stick to the rules and give him the three match ban, otherwise you will get clubs screaming for players to have longer bans all the time.
-
He's scouse and young, what do you expect? He will calm down.

What they need is a win by 2 or 3 goals over a decent side (Wolves, Reading, Sheffield United etc) whilst outplaying them to give them the belief not only in themselves, but the system they are playing.
