  1. Did anyone notice the kit that the ground staff were wearing on Sunday? They weren't wearing their normal Umbro gear, it had a makers symbol on it that looked like a small Reebok or Diadora symbol.
  2. It's Puncheon, gone for a brad behind the bushes. He sh*ts when he wants you know!
  3. Apparently one of those 'Steward told me' rumours was going around yesterday that Shaw has signed for Man Utd instead of us and all we get is compensation from the adjudication panel. Have to agree with the OP and as much as I liked and admired Jos last season, this season he has been a nightmare, he's so slow and his centre of balance seems totally off and don't get me started on his long punts forward. Also heard a rumour that Fox has had a Saints crest tattoed on his chest, so now we know why Cortese want to change the crest. He obviously doesn't want the club associated with that garbage going forward. We laud the team when they have played well, so it would be nice if the players shouldered their responsibility and issued an apology for that performance, it was dire and an abject failure of the kind not seen since that day at Fratton seven years ago.
  4. I'm going to New York at the end of July for five days with the Mrs and in-laws. Looking for some ideas of what to do and see and any excursions anyone can recomend. Father in law is a petrol head, so any car museum information would be most welcome.
  5. Should also have had the three points Vs Everton. You had to be blind or a match official to miss seeing the young lad climbing all over Rickie at the back post and the blatant push/shoulder barge on Lallana in that game. Bothroyd shouldn't even have been on the pitch in the QPR game either after his challenge early in the match, so would have been at least a point from that one as well.
  6. Can't help but think Rickie and Lallana would have shone last night, but we're obviously still not fashionable enough to have our players represent our country! I didn't think watching England could get anymore dull than under Capello and Sven, but Hodgson is rapidly making watching paint dry more appealing. We'd all better hope that Wilshire and Chamberlain don't get injured as they seem to be the only bright sparks in a pool of recognised dross as far as national talent goes in this country. Wellbeck, Cleverley and Carroll were useless. Someone needs to sit these young men down and give them a history lesson, this country and it's greatest achievements have been built on an ability to fight to the very bitter end at times in the face of huge amounts of terror and adversity, what got us through was the belief that we wont be beaten, this lot in our 'national' team either can't or won't fight from the first to the last. That has to change. When ability isn't enough, hard work will see you be victorious. Someone in the coaching set up needs to teach them that. I bet San Marino would have been ecstatic if someone had said to them beforehand 'You are going to go and play a team that are ranked well over two hundred places above you in the standings, and only concede five goals'
  7. I know that it is probably not the case, but it does at times feel like the club put all of their eggs in one basket, identifying a target and going after one target at a time. There is another option to those above as well, identify three options of the best standard and approach each of them and then go with the one that moves the fastest/is the most keen to join us. If one of them is then dragging their feet, say boll*cks to them and move on. Not every transfer has to be a long and drawn out affair.
  8. I'd say 'no messing about, get straight into them and batter them into submission from the first to the last minute, do not let them get a foothold' 'Oh and for once attack the dropping ball, if it bounces, so do you, straight out of this club!' and yes I know that is more than twenty words!
  9. I really like that Monaco shirt, it would look even better with a saints badge on it and a better manufaturers badge. I can't stand that Nike tick/swoosh!
  10. Yes we do need one, even more so for next season. Either that or Cortese needs to start hitting Fonte and Jos in the pocket for every long punt up the pitch that they let bounce rather than attacking and getting the ball clear, to teach them a well needed lesson. They have both been guilty of dilly dallying and then getting caught by an attacking player stealing in ahead of them this season, something that they will have to rectify to keep their places next season.
  11. He should of been sent off for then getting into a scuffle with Lallana and pushing him in the face.
  12. You're Pompey till they die Wont be long now, smiley face
  13. I heard a load of Skates singing that on Basingstoke station last Tuesday night and even more laughably 'One Team in Hampshire' oh the irony, or do they already accept their fate?
  14. 39, born on the Isle of Wight, moved to London a few years later, now in Basingstoke. First match, 86 away to West Ham we lost 3-1, it was the game that Shilton got loads of stick from the west ham fans for the tabloid revelations of him cheating on his mrs. First home, 1987 Vs Watford 1-0 win. Danny Wallace scored a screamer, I told my parents I was going to be out all day hanging out with my friends but went from London down to Southampton on my own instead then had to ask people the way to the Dell. I had saved up my wages from my newspaper round for the trip bought myself a scarf in the club shop and then had to pay a whole £1.50 to gain entry to the Milton Terrace. I was hooked from then on and sneaked down on several other trips that season including a 3-0 win against Oxford.
  15. And you left out letting the ball drop instead of dealing with it, admittedly the rest of the defence is also guilty of this from time to time but it's a more regular occurence from harding. He is also so one footed that if he didn't need his right foot for standing on, he might as well not have one. It's useless to him where kicking is concerned. If the ball comes to him on his right foot he needs not one or two but three touches to control it and has the turning circle of a super tanker on his right side. At least Fox has control of both of his feet and can play the ball with either of them, add that to his set piece delivery and his crossing ability and it's a 'No contest' in my view. Harding had an excuse against Leicester, his second half performance against Ipswich when he was playing in 'his' position reminded me of his performance in the Leicester game.
  16. Harding better than Fox, if you still think that after last night, get yourself to the opticians!
  17. Wouldn't it be better to hire one of those planes that fly around with a message towed behind it, to fly over that sh*thole saying something like 'Saints in the premier, Pompey?' Don't want to count chickens yet, so will decide where and how to party when it's a certainty.
  18. I've seen Will Campion from Coldplay and Chris Packham the wildlife presenter in the Kingsland stand at St Marys on several occasions and stood next to Phil Harding the time team archeologist in the Milton End at the Dell before it was converted to seating. I've also had the misfortune to be in St Marys for an England U21 match when that Uber pompey celebrity fan westwood was there, I was half a stand away but could still smell him stinking of p*ss! Due to distant relations of mine being Hammers fans, i've also met quite a few of their celeb fans. I've met celeb Norwich fans Stephen Fry and Jon Hare in the past as well.
  19. It's very important for the centre backs to attack the dropping ball tonight, the biggest issue up at Cardiff was that they didn't do this which allowed miller to run in under the bounce and get his body between the defender and the ball to hold it up for their supporting wingers and midfielders or for him to get a touch to take it past the centre back. They have to be all over him tonight!
  20. Good turnout from the first team as well, as Jos, Fox, Lallana, Harding, Reeves, Kelvin and Lee were all there with Murty sitting in their midst. Adkins and Cortese were also there. Lallana and Jos, weren't on crutches and seemed to be moving freely and showing no signs of their injuries. Also taking in the game were David Pleat, Frank Gray and Trevor Brooking. At the end of the game Adkins just sat there for a couple of minutes looking very depressed, he looked as though Cortese had just told him that he cannot sign anyone else or that failiure will not be tolerated and he had to sack Dodd and Williams.
  21. It's a good thing the big screens at St Marys already need replacing, with Puncheon in the team, they'll be taking a battering in each game he plays!
  22. According to the ticket office when I spoke to them earlier today, they will only be open for collections for an hour on Sunday morning as everyone has to be on their coach/bus in time for the departure of the first convoy at 10:30.
  23. I just spoke to the ticket office at St Marys, they said that they will only be open from 9am until 10 am for collections, as everyone has to be on their coach by 10:30 as thats when they will begin leaving. I think I may have to make a trip down on Saturday just to pick up my tickets, as it's going to be manic Sunday morning.
  24. I'm on bus 29 with that sicknote Spaniardo Chelsea paid £50 million for!
  25. Anyone know how to check your online account, do you need to register first, or do they set one up for you when they allocate your membership/season ticket/customer number?
