was the Terry /Bridge incident anything to do with morale?
GenevaSaint replied to OldNick's topic in General Sports
Problem being Phil, last time we performed under par in the world cup, the WAGs were blamed as a distraction. Damned if we do, damned it we don't! -

You don't need to be world class to beat USA, Algeria or Slovenia. We failed on two of those. -

Said the same thing to a mate before the game. Now. what could have changed from us storming through qualification and then struggling in our 2 warm up games and 4 at the finals. I'm sure there'll be a post mortem, if Fabio thinks it's Terry's fault I don't think he should play for England again. Whether or not the FA buy this is another thing all together. -

Campers, don't you just hate em ;-) Surprised to see him keep going back unless it's in hardcore, as he can see where the kill came from. Odd.

Nick, going to have to agree with you here. I feel the pain of the public sector workers, I really do. That said though, they need to be leaner. Most companies in the private sector have been making efficiecy savings for since late 2007 when the **** hit the fan. Efficiency savings mean a whole load of things as well, it's not just cutting jobs. I fear the public sector have not. In regards to the politicians though, they need to look long and hard at themselves. Glad to see 1st class rail travel has been cut. They need to set better examples. Ministerial cars. 1st class rail travel. I wonder how many travel economy when they fly for offical engagements/meetings? In my company a flight has to be more than 4 hours to fly business class, think it's 8 hours in IBM. -
Cameron on the Unions - "What planet are they on?"
GenevaSaint replied to dune's topic in The Lounge
I generally thought that Osbourne came across as a total fool during the election campaign. To be fair, I was impressed with his performance yesterday, and not working in the public sector I'm happy to say I am only £383 a year worse off. Obviously ignoring VAT. So, from a personal perspective, it's all good. I do however worry about front line services with the 25% cut across the governmental depts. To add to my concern I've just seen a line on the BBC that said the education budget is only ring fenced for 1 year. We all know what's going to happen there next year. I grew up in the under funded schools of the late 70's and 80's, it wasn't a good place to be from an educational perspective. But lets wait and see, so far, I'm relatively happy with the way things are going, lets see what October holds. -

Thorpe, I agree, relatively happy with that budget to be honest, I don't get tax credits so little impact. I'll be a bit worse off this year, but hey ho, life's a *****. Whilst not happy with the 20% VAT lets face it, it does impact all areas of society not just those who earn and pay income tax. The real concern will be the departmental reviews in October. On average a 25% cut across departments apart from those ring fenced is going to hurt.... -
So JT has apologised for speaking out of turn..... It does sound like he was stirring it a little then......

Didn't seem to worry the para's though did it

The tax-free personal allowance on income tax will be increased by £1,000 in April, giving 23 million people up to an extra £170 per year and taking 880,000 out of the tax system altogether, the chancellor says. Don't spend your £3.69 per week all at once Dune;-) -

They're not taking 900,000 out of tax altogether are they. Isn't that the number if the allowance goes upto 10k? They're not going to do that today in one step, the figures don't add up. But yes, congratulations are due to the Tory party for taking on a Liberal Democrat policy :-) The workers do already get breaks over the non workers, they get working families tax credits and child tax credits. Lets be under no illusion, taking the tax allowance upto 10K is not going to get any lazy benefits lay abouts off the dole and into work. -
If there was anything to be said, it should've been behind closed doors, and to be honest it should be coming from the current captain. I'm sure Gerrard is no shrinking violet. Plus there are other options, a quiet word through Beckham could have done the business.

Abstentiions/non votes shouldn't really count as a positive now though should they. The whole thing sucks. It's not that this is pompey per se (although it helps), I'm just sickened by the whole run and debts, emerge with a CVA and with the same owner.

Go on Dune, I'm intrigued, what real job did you get with your HND in business and finance?
-
I salute you sir, that is a hell of an achievement given the COD addicition.

The beard had to go man, the bush is still growing :-D

I'd agree apart from Green, I'm so unsure about him. dare I say it, i'd go with James. Apart from that top team Does sound like Capello wants Defoe in to start though...

LOL. Been away a few times with England, that does tend to be the norm, especailly among the Londoners for some reason. Sure there are some skinny non bald non males there but they're off doing fun things away from the Sky cameras. When does the camera ever pan round to the England support and spot a fit bird ala Brasil games.
