I think in fairness Weston, the unions wanted Ed Balls as he's far more left leaning, but then their second votes were for EM. I expect Labour to sit in the centre ground still. In regards to the power of the unions, I didn't see Labour bending over for them before, and I can't see that when they get back into power.

Hypothetical Question about house ownership...
GenevaSaint replied to saintscottofthenortham's topic in The Lounge
Yes the £600 is additional income, much as incomes/dividends from shares that are not part of an ISA. If there was still a mortgage on the property the income could be offset against it. So if mortgage was over £600 then 0 tax liability, but if the mortgage was £500 then £100 "profit" would be taxable. That said there are other costs that can be offset to avoid some of the tax liability. -

I must admit I thought HMRC had closed out these issues/loop holes around inheritance tax; in that you couldn't now gift a house to a son or daughter before you die thus avoiding the tax. Could be wrong though! -

Your mum would also be liable for income tax on the 600pcm. -

Rebel, only issue with the above paragraph is that "planning" for transfers would or have at least should have been taking place before Markus passed away. And if Markus knew he was on borrowed time then I would be of the opinion he would have put away a nest egg for us given his love for the club. Anyway, if the funding has dried up so be it. If it has there really ought to be a statement of intent. I.E. We're now self funding as this was always the ultimate aim. At least we'll all know where we stand. Regardless of all of the above, so he it, Southampton FC are still in business due to the Liebherr family. We still have a club. We can still turn up every week and support the sash. If we're destined to make it back to the NPC in 2 or 3 season so what. The premier league is not the be all and end all.

TwentyTwent when were you @ Southwestern house?

Yes, as the OP, I wasn't slating the salaries earned, just surprised there were so many in Hampshire that were so high. I was slightly concerned by the GP who earned nearly 500k though!
-
Not seen if it's been posted elsewhere..... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11333472 Some of the figues are astronomical.... There are 349 staff earning over 100K in the Hampshire PCT There are 344 GPs earning over 100K in the Hampshire PCT (not sure if that's included above) 12 headteachers in Hampshire earn over 100K 2 headteachers in Southampton earn over 100K

Daren, I've got to disagree with you here. Personally I've no opinion on Mike Osman at all. But if people are going to say things in public, it was a public/charity event was it not, they should have the ****** to say them in the Echo or on here, or have their comments aired.

Over four games, possibly, what about the whole season? Gotta look at the bigger picture DPS.
