I think the discontent has largely come from The original underwhelming appointment The really woeful 5 at the back performance against Lincoln to then go to 4 at the back and score twice, and then refer back to 5 at the back against Brighton We were at our best in the Brighton game when we went to a 4 at the back, and atrocious long ball shite for the rest of it. they completely outclassed us and we didnt compete. Fulham we started 5 at the back and we were appalling. We then went to a 4 at the back, got it back to 1-1, were on top, then he went to a 5 and we conceded. We then played Forest which was one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a team, and only changed to a back 4 with 5 minutes to go, and played apparently 80 long balls to their centre backs At this point there was absolutely nothing to be positive about because he wasn't learning at all and was just doing the same thing, with a team of players who seemed to have no idea at all what they were meant to do. We then go to Palace and change up how we play, played 4 at the back, and started playing with it on the floor (apparently JWP had words with him after the Forest defeat, and there was a big bust up at the training ground the day before the palace game) JWP took the team talk at HT against Palace Then we go 4 at the back against Man City, and the players suddenly look completely on board and giving their all. I think it was fully justified for the fans to have a go at Jones up until the Palace game, as there was nothing to suggest he had any idea what he was doing. That City performance was nothing short of sensational, and he deserves full credit for that. If we can go to Everton and play like a proper football team at this level, and win, then I think all will be forgotten and we all have to move forward. If we go there, set up 5 at the back and play long ball for the best part of the game and don't change it, then he deserves pelters.

I think the main issue under Ralph was squad depth, and the tactical change after we would be awful second half because we were knackered and ended up throwing leads away. We then curbed the high press a bit to help us to be able to get through a full 90 mins, but it took our effectiveness away. There is no doubt that that performance last night was up there with some of the best under Ralph. Just makes you wonder what the absolute clusterfuck against Forest was all about when we were the opposite in pretty much every way.

I think like any stat you have to take it in context with everything else. Both our goals would have been low XG, especially Djenepo’s. I’m not sure how City got 1, but they did have quite a few decent opportunities inside the box. Pinch of salt.

Fair play tonight was excellent. Clearly some home truths happened after that Forest game. And we’ve binned the hoofball and the back 5. It was like watching us under Ralph tonight, fantastic performance.

The fact we played the Forest one without one was a failure IMO. If we manage to play the Everton game without one too, might well be too late.

The signings scream 4-3-3, so it will be interesting to see us trot out with 5 at the back. Orsic is a wide left player, and Alcaraz looks like he's an attacking midfielder in a 3 as SaintScott has said above. I don't see Alcaraz playing the "Lavia" role.
