We played a back 4...

Not from what I've been told, but who knows. I know there was a big bust up the day before the Palace game, where Jones was basically told to scrap the back 5 by the players and other coaches. the players thought it had happened with the City and Everton results playing a back 4, but back to sq 1 now it sounds. The players feel very let down by Jones.

Just done some digging...apparently the players were furious with Jones after Tuesday night, especially about his comments afterwards. Which probably explains how some have ended up in the B team. I've been told "everyone wants him gone" though not sure if thats a loose term of "everyone" or actually "everyone". We shall see. Not a surprise.

Think the ideal would be Lavia and JWP behind Alcaraz, or Lavia behind both. The midfield looked completely lost on Tuesday, with JWP, Diallo and Alcaraz all stepping on each others toes.

I hope the fans properly turn on him this weekend if he goes with Lyanco and Bednarek at the back. He's literally taking the piss out of every fan that pays money to go to our games.

He also said "we usually score with a back 5". Yes - once we go to a back 4 normally. Bloke is an absolute clown and has to go.

B team today, makes as much sense as Jones prioritising Blackpool over Newcastle on Tuesday with Lavia.

It was also his insistence on playing a back 5. The best part of the Brighton game for us was a back 4, we were on top and scored with a back 4 at Fulham, and we’ve been atrocious with a back 5. I thought we’d moved on from the back 5 when we went to a back 4 against Palace, City and Everton, but we’re stuck again in this battle of a back 5 which has made us tactically awful. He’s not learning from his mistakes, which is the most infuriating thing. And his football is shit.

How can we possibly start Bednarek moving forward this season. The bloke is awful, and we have 3 better centre backs.

3,700 I think. There were a few empty seats top left, but most of those were sold I think. Probably 3,500 or something.

Sounds like we've spent our summer budget in this window, in the hope we stay up. Would expect players to be sold in the summer, whether we stay up or not.

Yup, completely agree with those points above. It was a cracking few days, got home a few hours ago. Saints support was excellent, Newcastle’s was pretty poor apart from the odd chant. Listening to the press, you’d have thought they were singing all game! Dont get this media obsession with Newcastle atm.

Impossible to say yet, but went for a 7, based on the fact we’ve fixed some holes in the squad. But who knows whether the players we’ve bought in are good enough. I’m disappointed it took so long because I think we’ve thrown away points and may have made a difference with the cup semi final.

Feels like it’s not that difficult to pick a decent team. Bazunu KWP DCC Salisu Perraud JWP Lavia Alcaraz Sulemena Onuachu Orsic Would seem pretty odd to bring in the new boys and not play them. ABK or Salisu for me, but ABK has looked really poor under Jones, possibly a young player going through the motions, and probably had a good relationship with Ralph.

Sure we went a few years without a home draw. Seem to have had loads the last few seasons. Can’t complain. Early rounds in the league cup have been a great chance to get some good away days, like Cambridge and Newport.
