Is there anyone on here who wanted Puel out who now regrets it??
obelisk replied to OldNick's topic in The Saints
I was undecided. I hated the way that Saints ended up playing last season but I'd have been ok with Puel staying on if no decent replacement was available. -
In just a few days we'll have a better idea of what this season holds. I'm feeling pessimistic in that I'm not sure the squad has the stomach for a relegation fight. Should relegation happen it'll depend on the fallout. It would be the height of incompetence to get relegated with this squad and I suspect things would get pretty nasty. As it is, should Saints survive in the Premiership, there are a lot of questions to answer.

How long are games going to last once VAR gets introduced more widely?
-
Same old story apart from conceding a late equaliser. Just.
-
Has Carillo been sent on to add more height to the defence?
-
Game is starting to sound familiar.
-
Then wait for Forster to have a MotM performance against Saints.
-
Is it just that Puel has better players at his disposal this season or that he learned a lot about the Premiership last season? His Leicester team seem to have a very different attitude to attack than we saw at Saints.

Defence is a shambles

It's good to see that others have at last come to the conclusion that the only way to really protest is by not turning up. I'm actually conflicted by this form of action because Saints have been my team since 1963 and I've supported them through thick & thin ever since. But recently something has changed. Is it me or the club or the Premiership or FIFA? Not sure but there is no way that I'm paying money to watch a team that is clueless and seemingly without fight. Money is either destroying football or my love of it.

Time to shield the eyes when the bottom of the Prem table pops up.
-
That's the thing about a relegation struggle. Having to cheer on other teams that normally one wouldn't. And now B'mouth take the lead.
-
That Hazard bloke would never do for Saints. Never looks to pass back or sideways.
-
Just had a read through this thread and an image of Wolfie Smith popped into my head. While protest is admirable there has to be a destination in mind but but so many people seem to even have different ideas on that. The only thing that'll really make the club sit up and take notice is not to hand over money. This writing's been on the wall for much longer than this season which is why they no longer get anything from me.

Face up to the reality folks. Any decent player's going to laugh at his agent if he calls up to tell him Saints are interested. If we'd made even half decent progress in the first "easy" half of the season then maybe there'd be a chance but not now given the current position and run in. The parallels with 2005 are uncanny.

Nothing wrong with betting against your own team at all. Think of it as a hedge.

Give me strength.

Ok it was handball but Saints were 2-0 and in control at half time but got deeper and deeper before Davis gave the ball away and let them back in. Relegated by that handball goal? Perhaps.
-
Saints now just giving it away far too much.
-
Davis just gave the ball away ... goal.
-
That's much better from Saints. Watford are pants but a 2-0 lead at half time is pretty much perfect. Now just as long as they don't sit deep and hand control of the game to Watford in the 2nd half.
-
Nah! Far too early. Unless we manage to celebrate for 5 minutes and delay the restart.
-
Do we seriously expect any decent players to want to come to Saints given their current predicament?
-
I wouldn't anticipate any quality signings this Jan. The team's poor form, uninspiring management and slump towards a very tough fight to avoid relegation isn't exactly going to persuade many to come our way. We'll probably have to make do with what we have and use the money in the summer, probably to help with a Championship promotion challenge.
