Presuming Ramsdlae starts it will be interesting to see how he performs. Having just arrived he won't be used to the style of play yet, I wouldn't be surprised to see him clearing balls that he deems too risky to pass to nearby defenders. Might be a refreshing change today.

Listened to Rest is Politics today for the first time and liked it. Philosophy Bites is good. Sounds a bit heavy but there are lots of discussions which are not about philosophy at all. All sorts of subjects. https://nigelwarburton.typepad.com/philosophy_bites//2017/04/400-bites-podcast-interviews-arranged-by-theme--1.html

If at work tomorrow my boss handed me a badge with "We stand against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia" and said we're all wearing this today I'd think it was pretty odd. I don't like being told what I should believe in even if I happen to agree with it. Isn't it strange that an employer would want to do that? They are de-facto forcing him to wear the laces if refusal means that he is left out of the team. If he is Muslim and views homosexuality as sinful I don't see why he can't be allowed to wear normal laces and get on with the game.

Sekou Mara - Official: Signs for Strasbourg

This. Sold him for pretty much what we paid it would seem. -
WHAT A MISS!! The BBC shout as Brereton Diaz on target shot gets deflected.

Some positives. Not the pummelling I was expecting and Newcastle did not dominate even when they had 11 on the pitch. Shame we couldn't convert more of the chances - had about 4 on target between 45 and 55 minutes? Zero shots on target in the first half from what I saw. We were better before the subs.

Works perfectly for me but Arabian commentary... https://livehd.lat/100/ehd-37.php

Expecting us to get smashed 4 - 0 putting doubt in the system we play, at least against the top half teams in the league, and hoping RM has an effective plan B or at least some serious tweaks. Hoping this post looks foolish at 5pm.

Shut the fuck up Donny!

There will be a fair few Utd supporters in the home end if history is anything to go by...

"Ooo Gotch Ook Woo" I should think.

I agree the police are largely useless these days but I don't think that's down to diversity quotas. They just don't want to police anymore. No proactive policing, little to no patrolling. Allowing theft and petty crime to be commonplace and to go unpunished. Not helped by the fact that judges don't want to incarcerate because the prisons are full and when they DO bang them up there's little or no attempt at rehabilitation or controlling drug use. But that's another debate.

It's important that the police force reflects the society it polices. I'd go further and say the whole judicial system needs to be this way. It's for this reason we don't have all-white jurys convicting minorities anymore.

For me this is a tough one. Like most I agree with promotion based on merit and that alone. Diversity policies in organisations should be concerned with trying to eliminate prejudices and biases in recruitment and making sure that the place is is fair and as accessible as possible for anyone and everyone. It isn't about simply appearing to have a cross section of gender, colour, disability, etc for no good reason other than to say you have. Policing is the one organisation which is different though in my opinion. The people doing society's policing and arresting, should look to broadly represent the society it polices. If this means quotas, so be it - for me it's the only area in which I think quotas are appropriate in recruitment.

That breakfast is nearly perfect (providing that IS toast and not fried bread). You can keep your baked beans and hash browns. Personally I prefer the tinned plum tomato - that alongside salty bacon is a taste combination that should appear on Masterchef at some point. I'd add a black pudding if it was an option and obviously a strong cup of tea.

Oh ok, cheers, I'll look it up. I'd be interested to see if it's been sensibly reviewed or fact checked.

I watched that interview a few weeks ago. What on earth is he talking to Tommy Robinson for? was my first reaction. It was an interesting listen though and TR comes across as quite genuine. I came away from it thinking that we only have his word for much of what he had to say though. Also a good part of the interview hinges around a film that he made about an attack on a Syrian refugee boy which was big news at the time - a British judge prohibited him from screening it. TR states in the interview that he regretted not showing the film at the time despite what consequences the judge would throw at him. So why not show the film now and let it be judged? I doubt he fears the legal consequences.

Actually I'm not sure it would make things any clearer. As you were.

If only they boxed naked we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Yeah I had great sympathy with Caster Semenya (also intersex) a few years back when she was told she had to take testosterone reducing drugs in order to compete against other women - in a sport which does everything to enforce doping rules and discourage drug use. Should she have been competing against other women though? No, not in my opinion due to her obviously male physique (excluding the fanny). Same for this boxer.

Yes, I understand we need the migrating labour force due to low birth rates (the US having similar issues despite all the rhetoric about the wall). Level with the pubic and have some sort of points system seems like the most logical thing to do. Perhaps then the demonisation of the "bloody foreigners" might lessen a bit.

Some of those Google reviews 😆

Does Australia still intercept boats and process migrants at Nauru? I imagine that's what our Rwanda policy was inspired by. When Boris was canvassing prior to being elected he repeatedly proposed that the UK adopt the "Australian type" points system over here.

Ha ha, I watched a handful of Totton games last season. I thought Austin was older than he is, he's 34. Scored 14 from 46 appearances with Swindon last season. I've just Youtubed a few of his Swindon goals and he can still get about a bit. I wonder what they're paying him.
