If I had to have someone take a penalty, life or death, it would be Le Tiss without a second thought. But in terms of technique, I rated Beattie better. It's not about the number he took, it's the way he took them. Total belief.
-
Best goal I've ever seen that wasn't scored by Le Tiss. Pahars v Derby at The Dell, an absolute beauty.

Good thread! Your best of the season Saints player? Morgan, without question. Best individual performance from any player Saints/Opposition? Schneiderlin and Cork against City Best match performance from Saints? Liverpool, particularly the first half Highest point of excitement? Taking the lead away at City Best Saints goal scored? Can't remember enough of them. I enjoyed Morgan's away at Wigan. Lowest point that you thought it was all doom and gloom? West Ham away Best goal conceded? That one at Stoke Best Song/comment heard on the terraces? Oh When The Saints. Always. Worse pundit you have come across since our arrival back in the big time? Lawrenson. Obviously.

Thought you deserved more credit for this. Made me laugh. What an odd thread.

Playing Ramirez out wide is such a waste - we looked a completely different team when he moved into the middle late on. Steven Davis worked hard, but was asked to play a role that just isn't his. The team in general - and the midfield in particular - look so flat without Lallana. Today and Sunderland have highlighted what a massive job he does for us. It's not just his ability, but he sets the tempo for the whole team, brings so much energy. We are missing him badly. Special mentions today for Morgan Schneiderlin, who bossed the midfield in the second half, and Luke Shaw yet again.

Puncheon is Fabrice Fernandes but with less end product.

There is nothing wrong with the club (any club) not responding to a newspaper's story. With this particular article, there is nothing to gain from the club issuing a response - they say it's untrue and the paper goes with 'the dreaded vote of confidence' line, they say we don't comment, and the paper runs the 'wall of silence'. However, the attitude of the club in simply refusing to reply to any story from the Echo is petty, and it's pretty short-sighted. Regardless of how a newspaper covers a club, refusing to deal with them is not a sustainable policy, and it does the club no favours with the fan base (so much as they pay attention) in how they view the way the club is being run. And by posting the comments they did on twitter, the club turned a non-story into a story. Not good PR.

I've seen some ridiculous things posted on message boards, but this is one of the most offensive and downright stupid things I have ever read on here. It has nothing to do with them being Liverpool fans. It has nothing to do with them being from Liverpool. It has everything to do with them being human beings who died because of the incompetence of the authorities, and who subsequently found themselves being blamed and stigmatised in order to cover up what really happened.

With stripes you could also say "it looks like Southampton". No danger of that with this year's kit.
-
Hate it. Even worse in person than I thought it would be from the photos. Plus it looks like quite a 'cheap' shirt quality-wise as well. Certainly not as good as last season's or the sash shirt.

This times a thousand. The whole site is bad enough, but this is the most ridiculous bit of web design I have ever seen.
-
Same here - I can't get a ticket for my account, but can for linked accounts, even those that didn't go to City...

From the online ticket site FAQ:

I liked hearing "We are the famous Southampton, the pride of the south..." get a rare home run out at the Donny game. Put my vote down for that one.

Funny you should mention Skacel, but I'm pretty sure I saw him in town earlier...

Um, number 18? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2397597,00.html

I am even happier than I thought I would be to see us in stripes again. Looks like a pretty good design as well.

Safe Standing Bill in Parliament - template letter now attached
Our Claus replied to bungle's topic in The Saints
Before you all get too excited at the prospect of this Bill actually getting anywhere in Parliament, you should know that it has almost ZERO chance of ever being debated again, let alone actually progressing through the various stages needed for it to become law. Its whats called a 'Ten Minute Rule' Bill (because the MP gets 10 minutes to talk about it) - and once its been presented, it goes to the bottom of the list of Private Members' Bills for Parliament to consider. Parliament considers Private Members' Bills over 13 Fridays each year, which means that unless the Bill is near the top of the list it has almost no chance at all of getting anywhere. There are already at least 20 Bills on the list before 10-Minute Bills start getting introduced. Your MP will probably never get a chance to do anything about this Bill. With very few exceptions, 10-Minute Bills are just a way of getting a little bit of publicity for a cause rather than a serious attempt to change the law. Don't mean to spoil all of your enthusiasm, but just thought you might all like to know... -
Lower East, at the Milton Road end (in the Young Saints bit). Still miss that seat, great spot. Oh, and the best goals were definitely all scored down the Milton End...
