William Hill have suspended betting on Benitez quitting Liverpool, citing his refusal to sign a new 4 year contract by the deadline of today I presume....should he stay or should he go???

Probably she fell for some 'well off, older, oil baron'.

If I was a season ticket holder, I would not mind the price reduction in the circumstances, I would buy one for convenience rather than anything else. But doubt if it would dramatically alter attendances over the last few weeks anyway, will probably end up like last season with a final home game of 30000 and the revenue that goes with it......come to think of it, if we had treated every game as a potential relegation decider, we may in fact be in a healthier position. And attending games does not necessarily mean blind acceptance of what is occuring in the boardroom or on the pitch.

Why go to the extreme of comparing your life to someone from an Islamic fundamentalist country, it is like a comparison between Southampton and Barcelona in football terms? Maybe a comparison to someone who lives in Norway for example and enjoys the benefits of a well funded welfare state? Oh but then again Norway is such a stupid idea, after all they don't have those lovely expensive nuclear submarines to maintain.......

The problem with rich people is that some do actually 'lock it up in a safe' in many respects, either by tax avoidance which is just as criminal if not more so than benefit scams, or merely by hoarding wealth. While agreeing that communism is not a practical political theory to adopt, it may well serve the country for the 'rich people' to put into practice what the Cadbury family did with what their fortune created.... Despite the demands of running a large company, George Cadbury was committed to spending time helping those less privileged than himself. Cadbury often said: "We can do nothing of any value to God, except in acts of genuine helpfulness done to our fellow men.". At first Cadbury built 24 houses for their key workers at Bournville. Later Cadbury built another 300 houses to form Bournville Village. These houses were superior to working class homes of that time, with larger rooms and generous sized gardens. Another innovation was to group the houses around cul-de-sacs or gardens. A school, hospital, reading rooms and wash-houses were also built for the people in the village. Cadbury Brothers already had a reputation as a good employer, having introduced Saturday half days and Bank Holiday closing. At Bournville Cadbury introduced a wide variety of sporting and recreational facilities. There was a kitchen for heating up food and later a works canteen was added. The company also provided medical and dental treatment.

With such clairvoyant skills you should surely have been able to play the stock market to your advantage and make a fair amount of money? It is practices such as short selling which have contributed to this situation, also do you ever consider the impact to the country as a whole rather than your own pocket when making such deals? But hey lets make some money while we can, and never mind the bigger picture.

What I do find moronic is the USE OF CAPITAL LETTERS FOR NO APPARENT REASON, and also to make the assumption that because people may have had the idea that Pearson was not that great a manager, they automatically become worshippers of Lowe. I don't think Pearson will prove to be a manager of any great note, nor do I LUV LOWE.

No I meant Britain governed by a Brit, it is not hard to understand. Though perhaps you feel sorry for yourself because out of the 4 England does not actually have its own devolved government, which no doubt will lead on to the spurious assertion that 'England' pays for the rest of the UK, even though there are people of all 4 nationalities spread throughout Britain and therefore paying tax revenue to the British government. Also if you were to take that point further, London and the square mile of the financial district has a higher proportionn of GDP, so no doubt you would like to see London as a separate country?

The British people are governed by a British person.

The 2-3 year old 'news' links were not what I was referring to, was more the initial post.

Forget all that Mary Poppins and other such rubbish, Bad Santa is my fav Christmas film, it has it all, alcoholism, a swearing Santa, a boy who beats the local bullies, a midget, and a happy ending as well. "Thank you for giving that letter to the cops. I forgot I asked you to do it, but it's a good thing you did or Santa's little helper would have plugged his ass. Now the cop's know I wrote it, whick is gonna keep my ass out of jail. That, plus everyone agreeing that the Phoenix police department shooting an unarmed Santa was even more ****ed up than Rodney King."

Everyone knows the dinosaurs put it in barrels for our future use, before they all died.

'we' already had a share in the wealth before it was sold to private shareholders, we no longer are benefitting from the wealth that is created from these companies. I think I said I had no issues with selling council houses as such, just that the money would be better re invested in creating socially affordable housing instead of for example.......propping up the shortfall caused by the sell off of nationalised industries? In my opinion the Trident issue is again both a moral and political one, morallly it is wrong to have it in the first place, probably even more so to upgrade it. And I don't think the issue of whether we have a nuclear defence system really exerts much foreign policy influence anyway, and seeing as how Germany does not have a nuclear deterrent yet is quite a major player on the European political front at least, that kind of backs me up.

We do not live in Victorian times anymore, people are not 'sent down' mines ,and no doubt there will be a fairly stringent HES policy in place, I seriously doubt that life expectancy rates will drop off if there is a resurgence of the UK coal industry.

The 'wealth' of the nation was sold off to private individuals during the privatisation programme of national assets that now have the responsibilty to earn shareholder dividends and return as much profit as possible whaich is not always directly re invested back in the business, most noticeable in the rail industry where thee have been several deaths attributable to this motive, where money should have been spent on improving safety systems, or even the upkeep of a recognised maintenance programme. And while the right to own your own home is one I cannot argue with in reality, my concern then and now is coming to fruition, if the money gained from the sales of council houses was re invested by the government in creating affordable social housing, then we may not have the problems in the housing market that we are seeing now. As a democratic and fairly wealthy country we surely have the moral obligation to offer aid to countries and to genuinely dispossed people from abroad. And as for squandered wealth, the largest part of that must be put down to the upgrade of the Trident defence system, it saddens me how a Labour government can sign up to that while there are many in society in need of help, such as the pensioners who are denied a decent increase in their basic pension.

The pit closures brought about hardship on mining communities that lasted a long time and as can be seen from the latest figures on coal production, if anything there was a need for more investment rather than closures, this is one reason why I personally dislike Thatcher, I respect peoples opinions on who to vote for on a party level depending on their instincts and in many cases their morals. But her decision was not a political one as such but a statement of direct intent to destroy the unions by defeating the biggest or one of the biggest in the NUM. And Arthur Scargill and Mick McGahey were equally as responsible for egging on the workers for a battle that they could not win, as coal had been stockpiled knowing there would undoubtedly be industrial action. Never to my knowledge has a Prime Minister of any party systematically decided to change the country from what its strengths actually are, in being an industry/manufacturing base into a 'nation of shopkeepers'.
