  1. I would say that if a team of the world wide standing of Juventus are actually interested in signing him then that in itself would be reason to keep him?
  2. Excellent news, now with some 'expected' additional signings think we should be able to consolidate and improve on this years league position, without getting into the realms of Champions League qualification fantasy.
  3. Still at a massive odds on price of 1/25, so at least the bookies have faith in us!!!
  4. A fracking great idea, bring it on
  5. Not as fuming as 'selling' a kitten but getting no cash for it though......
  6. No the real number was 11 fatalities and approx 17 others injured. And as for you original post, there is no conspiracy theory as such, also bear in mind that the oil companies were encouraged to develop deep water licensed blocks at the expense of the more easily developed shallow water blocks, for fear of environmental damage believe it or not. And another thing worth considering is that the people who are so against oil production in the GOM seem to have no concerns about the amount of tankers arriving in America full of crude on a daily basis, as long as there are no nasty oil platforms in sight. A friend of mine who stays in Florida, and another in Louisiana have both expressed the view that there is next to no crude oil being washed up on the beaches, and to some extent Tony Hayward was correct in saying that in relation to the size of the ocean the leak is relatively small. Bp are also being takenn advantage of in litigious America, some claims have been received bytheir equivalent of the RSPCA, for having to look after animals whose owners have lost their income as a result of th spill. Having worked on several BP platforms in the UK, I would say they have a safety problem in their organisation in that they have a good safety mangement system if followed correctly, however on several occasions this has been found not to be the case, at the end of the day that comes down to individuals decisions not to follow safety standards, and does not come from pressure applied by management.
  7. It is also nigh on impossible to win a war on terror, as can be highlighted by the resolution of the conflict in Northern Ireland, although even before talks were confirmed to be happening initially under John Major's government, as far back as the 1970's talks were taking place behind the scenes. It may seem harsh to say, but until the goverment or parliamentary leaders stop talking about 'missions', and 'goals', and comes out with the direct statement that British forces have been entered into a war, then maybe people can get a sense of perspective to the deaths of our forces, it is an inescapable fact that some of our soldiers will die.
  8. One person's idea of a terrorist is anothers idea of a freedom fighter, and it was not that long ago that the Taliban were part of or aligned with The Mujahadeen, who were fighting the Soviet occupation and supported by Western governments financially and in arms supplies.
  9. The minute I knew a claim was going in against me, I did put a claim in against the ex, as far as I saw it, as we had 1 child each, me and my new lovely wife decided there was no reason for any money to change hands. What annoys me is that the money allocated is in excess of what will actually be 'given' to my daughter, though I realise food and heating is part of her welfare. Also although my ex is 'on benefits' she and her partner live in a 4 or 5 bedroom house. So I am unsure as to what she will have to pay towards my son. With the pension increase, I was intending to pay the required amount for a while, then increase my contributions and inform the CSA of the increase, after all I could say I had seen a financial advisor who advocated an increase, and in the long term, my pension etc will indirectly benefit the children in the long term. But all in all, it will not last forever, as the children are 16(son), and 12(daughter), so I will just have to put up with it for the time being and take the moral high ground.
  10. I have recently been asked to pay an amount to my ex which in my mind is excessive in relation to the cost of bringing up a child, plus other factors such as that we have 1 child at each address each. However they have still to take my pension contributions into account which will lower it slightly, what I was wondering is that if for example I increased my pension contributions would my money to pay for my ex wifes mortgage(which is where the csa money is going after all), be further reduced?
  11. Exactly like Boyd yes, players who think they can withdraw/retire from international call ups dependent on who is in charge, should never get the honour of playing for their country again.
  12. Well as a Scotland supporter I am perfectly happy he is staying, he/the SFA dealt correctly with the Rangers players drinking incident, and considering the players he has at his disposal, we are playing as well as can be expected. The problem lies mainly in lack of youth development at Scottish club teams, relying on gash foreign imports. Funnily enough this is a situation that England may find themselves in in a few years with the over reliance on foreign imports in club teams. Burley may not have lived up to expectations while our manager, but hardly worth banging on about the fact that he may have got sacked from the national job.
  13. The part that notes that Saints curently are in League 1 whereas the 'best' football teams find themselves in the Premiership, La Liga, The Bundesliga, The Scudetto, etc etc...I have not seen Saints having much coverage recently in Champions League highlights, they may be my team, but they also are crap.....
  14. Who cares?????
  15. The next line is in fact, 'Cause Scotland are the greatest football team'.....similar in a way as Saints fans singing about Southampton being the 'worlds greatest team', i.e completley unrealistic...... Also it is 'cannae', not canee...hth Enjoy SA 2010........well until the semi finals probably...cue backlash for paying Capello a gazillion pounds to be just as good as the usual choice of managers.
  16. Definitions of sport... an active diversion requiring physical exertion and competition the occupation of athletes who compete for pay Competitive games and sport which are characterised by the acceptance of rules and responses to opposing challenge Council of Europe definition of sport: "Sport" means all forms of physical activity which, through casual or organised participation, aim at expressing or improving physical fitness and mental well-being, forming social relationships or obtaining results in competition at all levels. So take your pick from whaever definition you prefer, there is clearly room for darts/snooker/golf, and all other more traditional sports. Ps mountain exploring and trekking across ice is definitely not a sport, it is a mere past time.
  17. No, I was meaning individual and company tax avoidance as an example, not the MP's expenses
  18. I completely agree with that, just that the other side of the coin gets barely mentioned when discussing the benefit fraud or excessive claiming side of things.
  19. So you prefer your wasted millions to come from other sources, fair enough. The issue is what is the worse 'crime'.
  20. People should be more concerned about the millions of pounds denied to the government and in effect 'you', by tax avoidance schemes of companies and wealthy individuals, rather than the easy targets.
  21. ok, clearly there are 2 categories now, individual achievement and career achievement, for career achievement I would nominate Vincent O'Brien.
  22. From the golf yesterday, there was several mentions of a win for Tom Watson being the greatest sporting achievement of all time. What are anyones opinions on this, for a single sporting achievement it would have to be right up there in the top, though personally I would go for Ali's win over Foreman in 1974, or perhaps Dennis Taylor winning the world snooker championship, though I agree that is not everyones idea of 'sport', though to be fair the same could be said about golf.
  23. sssssh, don't tell Jill......
  24. 'They' being the 24/7 media circus who turn every political event or decision into a drama or crisis?
  25. It could be seen as a smart idea to consult/appoint someone outwith inner party politics to take care or advise on such a thing, as also in the case of appointing a senior respected medical specialist to a government position.
