Quick, everybody check all the car parks and sports field in the SMS area for a luxury caravan moored up........ oh and they'll probably be a couple of Cossack ponies picketed out and grazing nearby!

Achtung Flugabwehrkanone .......... or incoming Matty!

100% agree TT. I have been priveliged to have seen all the Saints greats from Terry Paine right thru' to MLT. As a football family we are now entering another unique chapter in our Clubs history and we are being led by the 'Chosen One'. MLT is without doubt continuing the legacy started by Edric Thornton Bates, a life time dedicated to one Club; the club that is Southampton FC. Those that called him unambitious for remaining at Saints just don't understand what a tight knit family we all are. COYR's!!!!!!!!!!!

MLT will generate the media frenzy, Sky have a vested interest, bolstered by the reappointment of the Wee man!

... it's still got the original quote from Tony Lynam earlier in the day on the media player.

....bleedin' obvious to me, as nobody on here, even our glorious ITKs, have got a clue what is going on where the hell are Solent and the Echo gonna get their news from. In their case for reuters see SWF.

Oh come on, please keep up, he's an ITKer. ;0)

yeah right... for £65m, you've bin smokin' about as much ****e as you've bin watchin'!

.. unlike yer namesake I doubt that you'll be missed Ta-ra

looks like our bottom feeding, banjo plucking, incest loving neighbours could be even deeper in the cack than first thought. The South African bank with which they have a major (£65m) loan want it back this summer.... whoops! :0) http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/may/16/portsmouth-could-sell-top-players

Did I not read somewhere recently in this sea of speculation that is SWF that the overseas bidder was willing to join another consortium to ensure that it was successful, could this be the cause of the delay?

Exclusive - Open Letter to Fans From New Owner...
waggy replied to Guided Missile's topic in The Saints
.. can we assume that when they take over they will be getting the team shirts from Pony? -
Very good post, just about sums it up for me. I've got a work colleague lives just south of Norwich at Holt and has been a long term season ticket holder. Says he probably won't bother next season as he misses several fixtures each season due to work and with a capacity of just over 26k he should be able to purchase match day tickets easy enough. I think you'll find that a lot of ours will do the same.

One mans pessimist is anothers realist. Having supported SFC for the best part of 50 years I have shared the highs, all be they very limited, and lows with 1000s of other fans and I have also seen those same fans turn very nasty very quickly if things start to go pear shaped. I do not disagree with the fact that his appointment would, initially anyway, put bums on seats, give us some pride back in our club and might attract a few players. However, MLT could do all of that in a none coaching capacity then, if and when it goes wrong, he would still have his status as Le God intact. I would love to be proved wrong and watch MLT lead us back to the promised land but we need an established coach at this level that can build a team that will firstly survive then establish itself in league one. If you think that this league will be a breeze then I suggest you speak to any Leeds Utd fan, we will be fighting for survival again next season and need an experienced coach. We will be counted as a 'trophy club' in this league i.e. every team that we play, just about, will want to prove a point against us and will play out of their skins to beat us 'cos we were in the 'big time'. Once again nice idea in theory and I stand to be proven wrong.

I thought that we had bottomed this one out months ago? Ex-players, no matter how good or high up on the deity scale do not often make brilliant managers. I for one would not want MLT to tarnish his God status and risk the abuse that he would ultimately get, ask KK or Jim Magilton how that feels. The Newcastle fans are still in a honeymoon period with Alan Shearer but if he continues next season in the same vain it won't take long for the geordie faithful to turn against their favourite son. So, no thanks!

Brilliant post, that is also the BIG club that I remember and have been lamenting for the past four years.
-
I tend to agree with you mate, everything about him said he didn't want to be here. His body language spoke volumes and he had no passion at all. At the time I thought you barsteward, you've only taken this job to give the blue few down the road the bird.
-
that'll be the same muppets that had ago at Walcott etc. etc....
-
.. would also fit in with what someone else mentioned on here a couple of days ago. They quoted redkrapp as saying that he knew what was going on with regards to the take over saying " We would be alright"
-
nice one... most of that lot could still do a job for us next season =)

not according to what Mark Fry has been saying, he reckons that the council may not now be required, if they ever were gonna, to buy sms as the consortiums in talks may have the necessary readies?
-
nah, too obvious, it needs to say something that we don't already know =)
