i can confirm that this rumour came from a 'man in the pub who drives a taxi and posts under the name of footballagent24 on twitter' so this really could be true then!
-
Now there's a woman that makes my piddler twitch !!!
-
I think this season crowds for most clubs will be substancially down. The cuts made by the coalition government are now just starting to bite, people have to be carefull with their pennies and football is one of those things that family men/women with mortgages have to sacrifice. I think Saints will get 24k on sat, that is not bad in this economic climate, especially as the game is televised.
-
I was going to say Luton away in 1978 also, i was there. What about Orient 1966 and Orient in 1978? I wasn't at either but i know that there were bloody thousands of Saints fans at both. Both ended 1-1 and Saints clinched promotion on both occasions.
-
Gordon Simpson in todays Echo said that saints may well give a run out to Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana tonight. That should add a few to the gate.
-
If you attending the game tomorrow night then just to make you aware, there will be two bars open before the game and at half time, but at full time only the one bar will be open.
-
The pitch is brilliant mate, its like a carpet at the moment.

Here is a pic of The T******d stadium for those of you who havent seen it.

If any of you are coming to this game by car then i would just like to make you aware that there will be NO PARKING for spectators on the Stadium site. The best place to Park is on Calmore Industrial Estate which is adjascent to the T******d stadium. If you park on Calmore Industrial estate then you can either park on Brunel Road ( This is the main road that runs through the industrial estate ) or we (AFC Totton) have a deal with a company called Mansels to use their car park on match days. To get into their Car Park enter the Industrial estate and take the 1st right, then take the next right and you are in their car park. Once you have parked up on the industrial estate walk back to Calmore roundabout ( stay on the footpath on the right ) and once you get to the rounabout you will see a house on the right hand side, walk past the house and you will see an entrance onto a gravel footpath on the right, walk onto that footpath and keep to the left and this will take you to the turnstiles. AFC Tottons postcode is SO40 2RW for any of you with a Sat Nav who are not familiar with Totton. here is a link to the AFC Totton website ..........http://www.afctotton.com/index.php. Some usefull info. Admission prices are as follows £5 adults £3 Concessions and £6 for an adult with 1 child Turnstiles will be open at approx 6.15pm We will have 2 bars open for any spectators wanting a pint. We have 500 seats issued on a 1st come basis ( No extra charge for a seat ) 250 tip up seats and 250 bench seats. We have 2500 terrace spaces. ( 3000 capacity in total ) Totton will be wearing white shirts, navy shorts and white socks ( We copied saints in returning to an original kit for our 125th season) We normally wear Royal blue shirts, shorts and socks. Presumedly Saints will be wearing all black. PS If anybody decides to park anywhere else on Calmore Industrial estate other than in Mansels car park or on Brunel Rd PLEASE CHECK that there are no wheel clamping signs first.

It'll be a good test for these lads to face the 'Mighty' AFC Totton on July 20th! :-)

The Dell under lights was a great place to be 'especially' if we had a big cup tie. I remember quite a few BIG evening games but one of my 1st memories of a packed house was playing Notts forest in an FA Cup replay in '77, we had just drawn 3-3 up at their place and as cup holders we were defending the cup. We won the game 2-1, but sardines had more room than we did that night, you couldn't put your hands in your pockets! the crowd was 30.000, how the hell did we used to squeeze 30.000 in there!!! (tbh there was probably more than 30.000 in the ground that night). The atmosphere was 'electric' you still can't beat the chorus's of 'Oh when the Saints' with the people in the upper east and west seat stamping their feat on the wooden floors, it made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up! I wonder if there is any old video on youtube with the saints fans doing this??? it really was a magical sound!

Cardiff at home draw 2-2.

Final score.......... Sholing 1 AFC Totton 3

Totton may play in blue BUT The Stags fans are ALL Saints fans. There is always a loud cheer when the H/T F/T Saints results are announced over the tannoy and they are winning or have won. Anyway, good try in trying to build up Sholings support tomorrow night though. Next year by the way Totton will not be wearing Royal blue they will be in white shirts and navy shorts as they are copying Saints in returning to their original colours for their 125th birthday season.
-
i sat over in Block 1 or 2 for a couple of seasons and i loved it over there, but i also love the Northam/Kingsland corner, there's a great atmosphere in both parts of the ground.

I think that if Saints were to get back to the Premier League and were pushing for the Champions League places we could DEFINATELY attract 45.000-55000 and i genuinely believe that! However, If we were to get back to the Prem and just try to stay in it, then i think we could get 28.000-38.000 depending on the opposition. The latter was more or less proven when we were last in the Prem. If we had Fulham or Birmingham at home then 28.000 was the sort of crowd we got. When we played Arsenal, Man Utd etc, we'd sell out quickly and on many occasions the box office said that they could have sold thousands more.
-
I think you will find that the record crowd for third tier football in England is 49.000 for the Sheffield derby at Hillsbrough in 1979.
-
You can consider yourself well and truelly told off! lol

I have found out that you CAN support two clubs. I support my local semi pro club AFC Totton and of course Saints. So you can support Winchester City & Saints. Its finding the time to watch both that could be the problem!

Ellie Mannion Charity Match Weds 11th May, 7pm Kick Off. Daniel Mannion and Stuart Saint ran AFC Totton reserves last season in the Wessex Combination league. Unfortunately Dan has recently received some earth shattering news that his daughter Ellie 6, has been diagnosed with leukaemia. They are now trying to arrange various fundraising events for the Piam Brown childhood leukaemia ward at Southampton General Hospital . It has been confirmed that a charity football match will be held at AFC Totton's T******d Stadium. The game will be played between an AFC Totton select 11 (including first team manager Stuart Ritchie) vs. a Select 11 made up of ex south coast professionals. Prizes have been donated for this from all the south coast clubs. They have a good side lined up with Jeff Kenna, Jason Dodd, Francis Benali, Paul Masters and David Hughes hopefully all playing. There are also have a few players/ex managers from the Wessex League and Zamaretto League including Craig Davis, Pete Castle, Justin Burnett (Gosport Borough), Kevin Gibbons (Sholing) and Glenn Burnett (former Romsey town manager). Cost of admission will be £5 on the gate with the entire amount raised going to the ward. There is also a charity raffle after the game to hopefully raise more money for this worthy cause. AFC Totton are honoured to be part of this and we hope that plenty of money is raised on the night. We would like to send out our heart felt wishes to Dan and his family at this difficult time. ALSO PLEASE READ THIS... AFC Totton XI vs Brockenhurst XI Venue: AFC Totton's T******d Stadium Sat May 14th. Kick-Off: 1.00pm. Entry Fee: £5 This fund-raiser event will consist of 2 of Jay's former non-league teams playing in a friendly but competitive match in his honour. The teams will be based around former team mates and close friends associated with both clubs. The aim is to try raise £10k for Jay's rehab and specialist treatment after his accident. All money taken on the gate plus other fund-raising activities on the day will go towards this. Please continue the already great support by attending this event, no one deserves it more than Jay. It will truly be a memorable day and we invite you all to come along and enjoy this special occasion. For those of you that are not aware Jay is only 22 and was paralysed from the neck down in an accident during a practice session at Legoland Windsor for a show. This young man deserves all of the support we can give and AFC Totton are honoured to be hosting this event, everyone connected with the club wish Jay the very best and our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. He is a strong and determined young man and he will with our support get through this. Hope to see you all there on the day. Saints could come and play 'The Mighty AFC Totton' in the T******d Stadium.

In my opinion we need to strengthen the midfield area, we have players in that area that are to inconsistent eg Hammond, Scniederlin BOTH are decent players on a good day but they need to have more 'good days'. Chaplow even went off the boil for a while but picked up again in the last few games. If we are to mount another promotion challenge then this is a key area for me. Obviously if we lose Chamberlain then we need to buy another wide player and perhaps another centre half too as Jaidi is obviously no spring chicken. IF we rectify these areas then the play offs are a definate possibility.

Memories of the 77-78 season, when we last won promotion.

Someone mentioned the Fulham game when saints took a huge following to Craven cottage, if my memory serves me correct this was a friday night game, i remember listening to the reports from the game on Radio Solent and all you could hear was the chants of 'Come on you yellows'. Many younger fans may not be aware that in the 70's and 80's before all seater stadiums, most stadiums had cash admission on the day and the clubs and the police had no idea of how many away fans would travel to games, i wonder if fulham really expected 10.000 saints fans to turn up at Craven Cottage on a friday night....probably not! No wonder there was some much hooliganism in those days, if there was not enough room in an away end then away fans would just pay to go in the home end. I reckon saints would've took at least 12.000 to Plymouth tomorrow if the old systems and stadiums were the same as back then. -

I wasn't expecting any other result from the Brighton v Huddersfield game than the one we got, so i am not disappointed i am delighted that we got the win that we needed. Plymouth need a win on monday so they have to attack and this should play right into our hands.
