At the stewards briefing on friday the stewards will be told to make everybody stand up and sing, if they insist on sitting down and being quiet they will be ejected! They have Turkish's seat no ;-)
-
I posted this just for you Turkish as you are quite obviously the quiet boring type!!!
-
I am sure there will be a cracking atmosphere on friday evening v Reading anyway BUT i am asking the more 'placid' Saints fans to really push the boat out on friday night and sing your heads off! Nigel Adkins made a point of saying how much the crowd played a part a Palace today, he said it made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up! So lets give them the noisiest backing that they have had at St Mary's this season or for many seasons previous, lets roar them over the line folks. The Premier League is so close you can almost touch it!

This post seems to be an a disagreement between A)the happy clappy fans who probably sit there with a blanket over their legs eating sandwiches and drinking flasks of tea and never sing a song all afternoon. B) Those who had no voices left through singing their hearts out with pride, whilst not being afraid to show their emotions at scoring against our bitterest rivals in a match that could have pushed us nearer to the championship and automatic promotion. In a mundane league game v Peterbrough i'd say yes its maybe a little OTT but v Pompey i'd say its nigh on understandable! We are all very different as this post shows. I personally may not have gone on the pitch and waved a corner flag about but i have cleared a few rows of red seats and ended up on my arse when we've scored against that lot!!!

You could be in your car by 2pm and it'd take 45 mins to Bashley, i'm guessing???
-
Looking at the kick off times you could go to both games!....A feast of footy!
-
That should be a fiesty old derby Saintbag!!! Two sides chasing promotion too! Alternatively if you are a saints fan who lives further west and you are not going to Sellhurst Park then travel down to Bashley for their derby v promotion chasing AFC Totton, that should be a goodun en all its a 3pm kick off. Lots of Stags fans going down for this one. If you can't get to a Saints game then the local non league clubs will be delighted to have your support.

As for the sarcastic feckers like you who replied to this....I knew there would be a few of you saying exactly what you've been saying. Sorry for trying to be POSITIVE!!! I am sure there are some registered users who just enjoy picking holes in other posters comments, still, if thats what gets you off then so be it eh!....pathetic really.

After our FA Cup defeat to Millwall i posted on here about our season being at a crossroads. At the time our form was inconsistent and we were close to losing our place in the top 2. i pointed out that our players were good enough to get promoted, it was just a case of proving that fact or throwing away all of the hard work that had been done in the early months of the season. If the lads didn't have the guts and determination our season could've gone down the pan, but they have been MAGNIFICENT from that moment onwards. Last saturdays game v Blackpool was a blip but we have put ourselves in a fantastic situation. The lads will be in no doubt what the Pompey game means to us so i think we will see a POSITIVE reaction to last weekend, the derby has come at the perfect time in my opinion. If we win on saturday we are even closer to Premier League football. To win the Championship would put the icing on our cake. COME ON GUYS, LETS HAVE ONE BIG PUSH OVER THE LAST SIX GAMES!!!................. Then there will be a party and a half on April 28th!!! We are all fully behind you!!!

I remember people saying all this in 77-78. We went up then as you all know. This team has what it takes to chalk off the neccassary points.

Was that the 3-2 defeat when Joe Jordan scored a late consolation goal? This was televised by ITV (TVS) at the time. Brian Moore commentated. Later that season we beat them 3-2 at Upton Park with Joe Jordan and Danny Wallace scoring for Saints and in that game Steve Walford scored a Bizzaar own goal for Saints. This game was also on ITV (TVS) with Brian Moore commentating. How do i remember this??? **** knows, but i do! I can't remember anything from yesterday though!

Any old farts recognize themselves?
CLOTH EARS replied to The Majestic Channon's topic in The Saints
This was January 1978 and i was there. I nearly suffocated before the game when we were being hoarded down to the ground by police horses and i had my face forced into the back of a rain jacket that some bloke was wearing we were being crushed as i recall...i was just 11 years old at the time. Other things i can remember from the day was how every Bristol Rovers fan looked like Jeff Lynne from ELO!!! Oh and my ol man and his mates stopped at some pub on the way and they had a TV in the pub and happy days was on with the Fonz....memories memories. -
I can't agree with Window Cleaner about our 1-0 win V Man Utd in 76 being a smash n grab, we had other chances in that game, nor can i agree with SlickMick about our 1-0 at Anfield in 1981 when Steve Moran scored, i was also at that game and we had a few other chances although Liverpool could consider themselves unfortunate to have lost the game. Sinned posted about a 1-0 win over Liverpool along time ago when Hughie Fisher and Mick Channon played, this reminded me of a very lucky 1-0 win over Liverpool at the Dell in the 90/91 season, Le Tissier scored after 2 minutes and we were hanging on for the rest of the game. Ian Rush as i recall could've scored 6 if it hadn't been for Tim Flowers and a linesmans flag! There was a great shout from St Lej regarding the 1-0 win over Man Utd in 97/98, this was very much like the Liverpool game that i have just mentioned. Another game that springs to mind was a 1-0 win over Newcastle at St James's in about 97 when Souness was manager, i think Le Tissier scored a cracker for us but it was probably the only shot we had all afternoon.
-
I remember this game, i think Egil Ostenstadt scored from our only attack. I remember a game at Sellhurst Park in 1992/93 when we were 'battered by Crystal Palace for nigh on 90 minutes, Tim Flowers pulled off some great saves that day, as i recall we broke away twice and scored twice through Ian Dowie & Perry Groves to win 2-1....it was daylight robbery....my mate who i was with got into a heated argument with a Palace fan at the end of the game he was ****ing fuming!!! He reffered to us as the jammiest bastards ever!....tbh on that day we were exactly that!

I was a ST holder in the Archers Road back then and i remember that song oh so well.

I had a little chat with him last night after AFC Totton had beaten the side he manages 'North Greenford United' 6-1 at the Testwood Stadium. He has put on a few lbs but he was very polite and quite chatty as we relived his Southampton days. He said that he loved it here. He said the Alan Ball had them playing some really good football. We also relived the night Saints were losing 1-0 to Kevin Keegans Newcastle untill the 89th minute and we scored 3 times in 3 minutes to win 3-1 and Neil scored one of the goals. He said that he doesn't really keep in touch with any of the Saints players from the mid 90's. I was telling him about how much Saints have come on over the last couple of years and that Mr Cortese is investing heavilly into the training ground where work is currently progressing. He seemed really interested and was asked what was being done down there. he said that he'd love to go down and have a look around, he said that the training ground was pretty good back in his day! All in all he seemed a very decent guy.

Good question, it just says coming soon. Its usually on the 'i player' much earlier on a sunday.

Now lets kick on catch West Ham & Go up as Champs!
CLOTH EARS replied to CLOTH EARS's topic in The Saints
If we play to our max i really fancy us to get the 3 points. We shouldn't look behind us now we should look at West Ham catch em and then our next goal is to keep increasing our lead at the top and celebrate like f--k at the end of the season! -
Today was a MASSIVE win for the boys, there was some really encouraging signs from them today, lets now go and catch West Ham and stay out in front and go up as champs. We can now put December and January right behind us. LETS DO IT!!!
-
R.I.P Mate. Please may i offer my condolences to all family and friends.

Our form over the last couple of months has been indifferent, as a result we have lost the top spot in the league and we are out of the FA Cup and in my opinion we now stand at the crossroads of our season. Are we going to throw the towell in and let the had work of the 1st few months count for nothing? OR, are we going to take a deep breath count to 10 and roll our sleeves up and PROVE that we are a good side and WIN PROMOTION? Right, this Saturday v Burnley we must send out a message to the rest of the division....WRITE US OFF AT YOUR PERIL!!! Some points i'd like to make to the players. You ARE good enough. DONT just play for 2nd place LETS WIN THE BOODY DIVISION!!!! As for our fans, if you are feeling low DONT! Lets roar the boys on to achieve the above!!! COME ON YOU REDS!!!

in the day and age of CCTV if missiles had been thrown at him there is NO DOUBT that the old bill would have arrested the culprits in the hours or days after the game. I wasn't at the game but i reckon he is talking TOTAL ******!!!

David Cameron mentions Saints v Pompey rivalry in the house today.
CLOTH EARS replied to CLOTH EARS's topic in The Saints
I didn't vote for him either!!!
