I find it amazing on here how many of our fans are not bothered by the quality of players that have left or 'may be' about to leave our club. The fact is we will not keep getting away with it like we did last summer. Some will argue that there are signs already that this summers recruitment may not have been as fruitful as last summers. If Wanyama and Mane leave so late in the window we really could have big problems as we may not be able to get replacements in before the window shuts. I agree with BFS that RK needs to put his foot down and say 'nobody is leaving until i am happy that the replacements are lined up and that they are of adequate quality'.

We gave him stick for many years afterwards, i think he signed for Everton about 5 years after the incident at Ewood Park. The sending offs of Osgood and Williams happened in 1977 in a 3-0 defeat for Saints. As someone pointed out the Everton fans didn't have a clue why we were booing him. John went on to have a wonderfull time at Goodison Park winning a number of trophies in a golden era for the Toffees. I personally wish him a speedy recovery.

Talkin of fog, i remember saints being 1-0 up at the City ground v Notts Forest (76-77) through Nick Holmes, the fog became so thick that they abandoned it before half time. when the game was replayed we got beat 3-0...........typical!!!

I was at that friendly with Luton, i was sat in the upper West and i kept saying to my ol man 'i cant see anything' Apparently, we scored a goal but i didn't see it, it was abandoned in the end. There was a cheer when the goal went in but how the hell they saw it i'll never know! The attendance that night was only about 4.000 if my memory serves me correct.
-
Phil, I remember this night. You are correct David Harvey Ex Leeds was in goal. I also remember Jimmy Greaves scoring ( he was well into his 40's aswell!) I remember the 35 yard lines and that American style shoot at at the end. The attendance was 12.000. I can recall a night when a Dutch international played for us in a friendly, he had a Chinese type name (La Ling?). Was it this match or was it a friendly with Gothenburg in about 84? I recall playing Gothenburg a few times in friendlies, 1977 ( we won 2-1), 1984? (we drew 4-4) and in 1994 (we won 3-0), the latter was when Bally had just taken over as manager.

Sorry but i had to say it! Where do we go from here? I feel so sorry for Nigel but i fear he is now a goner.

Old Sarum wrote.... Can't see what the fuss is al about It was obvious we would play the reserves as we did against Stevenage and Sheff Weds I suppose you all want refunds for those games too! I say You are missing the point. I think you can get away with it at Stevenage, but Leeds are a stronger team than Stevenage in my opinion and we 'should' have picked better players, especially as we were playing at a hostile Elland Road. We threw away a chance of a quarter final place with that line up last night and i think that is simply not on!!! If we get beaten at West Brom it makes a mockery of resting those players. We could've won with a stronger line up and give ourselves a shot in the arm.......but we blew it by picking that line up.

So lets sacrifice every cup competition so we can finish 17th in the Premier league eh! If thats the way football is going then F---k the Premier League!!! Football used to be about winning tropies not just about ££££. Sometimes, i think i'd sooner see us pushing for the play offs in League one!
-
Thats my opinion too. They should refund the fans. How many of them would've gone if they honestly thought they'd see ELEVEN changes.........basically a reserve side! I expected to see a few changes, but i expect my team to TRY AND WIN any competition they enter. The team we put out sent out all the wrong signals for me. What happpens if we get stuffed by West Brom on monday? They would have sacrificed a chance of a Wembley final for nothing. F-cking disgracefull!!! As quickly as we progressed over the last few years we are now in danger of going backwards just as quick!!! If you don't like what i have to say TOUGH thats my thoughts!

If we do then no matter who comes in, they will have to make do with what we have got. You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear!!! I have my doubts that things will improve much with somebody else UNLESS Nigel has lost the dressing room. If he has then we should change the manager. No matter who is in charge between now and January we MUST stay in touch because if we get cut adrift then attracting quality defenders will be incredibly difficult.

Alps, i don't wanna jump on the Alpine bashing bandwagon but do you believe Rodriguez is useless as the original poster stated? We have hardly seen anything of him so how the hell can we judge him to be useless? He will prove his worth in my opinion. Give the guy a chance.
-
I really can't believe them ****in idiots! These people are total morons who's knowledge of football is obviously limited. Who the **** do they think they are, i really hope we give em a good tonking at Villa park too.

The more i think about this the more i think the Redknapp thing may come true. I know many of you hate the thought of it but of all the available candidates his name jumps out at me as the sort of appointment Cortese may go for. If not Redknapp then I wouldn't rule out an appointment connected with Italy neither.....just a hunch.

Rickie Lambert on 5live's Monday Night Club
CLOTH EARS replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I agree. Claridge is a good pundit, he has always been fair regarding Saints. -
Sorry somebody beat me to it.
-
Although in my earlier posts i was questioning the substitutions and our defensive capabilities i would also like to add that there were some really good performances from the team and yes there are plenty of things to be positive about. Mayuka has to settle in and Yoshida will i am sure be a big plus for us and of course Ramirez, i think that is something that we can all be excited about.
-
I don't want to have a go at NA but if Lambert, Lallana and Puncheon were injured or dead on their feet then fair enough BUT those substitutions played a big part in the final outcome today.
-
Yep four goals scored against two top sides is a big positive. Worryingly we have conceded SIX goals in these two plus two v Wigan, already our defence is a major area of concern.

I'd just like to say thankyou to Deano for playing a big part in getting us back to the Premier. On his day a really good player. -

**** me - I cant wait then! -
This could be either the most exciting transfer news since keegan signed OR it will be a let down on the scale of pulling a beatiful Thai bird and finding she had meat and two veg!.....................and no i havent experienced this myself btw!!!

I like the rest of you am very proud of the boys, we can take alot from the game and we can move on confident that we can get results in this league. Well done lads!!!
