It is blatently obvious that nothing will change regarding Portvliets tactics. He stubbornley refuses to abort his system despite the fact it is obvious that our players cannot adapt to it. The system may work if you have top class players but we have not got that. It doesn't matter what 11 players he puts out they simply cannot play the system and they are simply not good enough full stop!

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all! If any of you feel like me and get fed up with all the goings on at SFC come and join me at Testwood Park and watch AFC Totton claim a place in the Southern Premier in 2009!
-
Will the men in white coats please come and get this guy he has clearly lost the plot!!! PS Are you in Ruperts lodge? wink wink!

In an ideal world I would like a totally new direction in the boardroom, new people with fresh ideas, BUT if I had to choose between Lowe and Crouch then its Crouch. AS long as Lowe and Askham have shares and are connected with the club then this sorry mess we are in will get even worse. They have to cut their ties with SFC FOREVER!!! Then and ONLY THEN will the club start to go in the right direction.

My parents live in Malmesbury in the Western cape ( not that far from Paarl ) They both follow saints fortunes. Usually the first question my ol man asks me every saturday when I call them is 'How did the Saints get on?'. My mum is English ( from Cadnam ) my ol man is a South African who lived over here from 1963 till 2004 when he decided to move back and took mum over there with him. -
You took the words right out of my mouth CS, the club can easilly manufacture a situation to try and force a player to say 'I want out'.

Not me!!! I have just been talking to a mate of mine on the phone who still goes regularly and I said to him that i'd be two faced to go to this one after declaring that I won't go whilst Lowe is back there. I will stick to my guns, many who have said that they wont go whilst Lowe is there will do for this one you can be sure of that. There will be a 32.000 sell out for this one without a doubt and I have to say that it'll be nice to see the place packed again and it'll be a good experience for the young lads too. I will be spending that saturday (3rd) at the AFC Hayes v AFC Totton fixture in the Southern league south & west division, so I hope they either move it to the sunday or lunchtime on saturday so I can watch it on the box.

Happy birthday Mick! My all time Saints hero.

I have not been to watch saints this season, I went to two thirds of the home games last season. I used to follow Saints home and away and spend a fortune in doing so, but i've been ground down by all the politics that surrounds the club This is by far the longest i've been without watching saints since I started going in 1975. Lowe is the reason I have not been, its my own personal protest. I have fed my footy addiction by watching AFC Totton this season and I am enjoying it alot. The entertainment value is very good for only £6. I'm starting to ask myself if I could ever go back to paying £26 to watch a game of football. The danger is that the missing 17.000 or so that we have lost since relegation have also found something else to do on a saturday that they enjoy, if the club isn't carefull they may lose alot of these fans forever.

There are many reasons why our crowds have fallen. Cost IS an issue as everything from fuel to food is rocketing in price, this is bound to have an effect on those ( like me ) who are on lower incomes. The Rupert Lowe issue is also a big factor, But the biggest factor of all is RESULTS paying £26 to watch a losing team full of unproven kids is not appetising for many fans. Unfortunately for me i can only see one outcome for our beloved club.................relegation and administration!

Cutting the price of tickets doesn't garauntee bigger gates. The old regime cut prices when they came in and crowds went down from an average of 25k down to an average of 21k. I agree with david Luker that his hands are pretty much tied for this season. BUT I think the club should introduce something next season that rewards those fans that go week in week out. Perhaps if you buy a season ticket you should get as much as 25% discount off of the normal price. so if the match tickets cost £25 then it should average £18.75 for a ST holder, then on topof this chuck in free tickets for the 1st 2 home Cup ties. For those fans that buy tickets on a match to match basis they could get every 6th ticket for a tenner as an incentive to keep going. What do you think?

I tell you what, I have been a saints fan since 1975, I followed the club home and away alot from the early 80's through to the early 90's and continued with home games right up untill last season, i spent a fortune on the club to be honest but the last few years have been the worst i have experienced, there have been far too many Lows and very few highs in the post 3 years or so. Results is one thing but I got totally fed up with all the boardroom politics and the thought of Lowe coming again was the final straw for me. I still love the club but I will NOT go back whilst Lowe is there, The time when things begin to improve at the club will be when that man and his merry band of shareholders ( Askham etc ) sever their links with the club FOR GOOD by selling their shares, then and ONLY THEN will things improve at Southampton Football Club. I still retain my love of football although the recent times at Saints have tested my passion for the game. I still wanted to go and watch games, So I decided that I would follow AFC Totton in the Southern League and I am thoroughly enjoying it, I see a club ran by people who GENUINELY LOVE THE CLUB, i see a manager who is tactically astute, i see players who have plenty of ability, they show passion and skill and they are downright entertaining to watch and it only costs £6 to go and see it!!! AFC Totton have given me many things that Saints havent in recent years. As I said earlier my post things the day things will improve at SFC is when Lowe is gone FOR GOOD!!! If he hangs around the club will continue its slow death and unfortunately there will be many more Lows like tonight!
-
All so predictable. We are like a patient on the critical list, it wont be long before we are placed on life support!!!
-
You know its a small crowd when the log u left down the pan in cubicle one on wednesday is still floating in there today!!! You also know its a small crowd when you can fart in the concourse at half time and no one is close enough to be bothered by the stench!
-
Saturday v Barnsley the crowd will be 15.254.....slightly better than Ipswich.
-
I reckon tonights crowd will be 14.447.

Mick Channon in hospital following car crash
CLOTH EARS replied to saintbletch's topic in The Saints
Mick, you were my hero as a kid so get well soon mate. I would also like to send my condolences to the family of the dead man. -
I reckon we'll end up with 13.500 tonight, which is acceptable, and 17.000 saturday due to Blackpool not having a large away following and the game being live on Sky.
