Maybe 19c, Manji, Up up and away and Guided Missile will all become Bournemouth fans?
-
Really sad to hear of the loss of a fellow saints fan. RIP Fella.
-
That is what he told us on the Q & A evening at St Marys a couple of weeks ago. Matt will NEVER be manager and THANK GOD FOR THAT!!!
-
I'd just like to add that I do not know what the club would feel about the idea, they may not be willing to groundshare BUT I could set up a meeting with the relevant people to find out if they'd be interested.
-
I am involved at AFC Totton. IF the new club were to be formed and they wished to speak to AFC Totton about ground sharing I could set up meetings with the relevent people at the club no problem. WE ( AFC Totton ) will be moving to a new ground. The exact timescales for this have yet to be set out with the developer, meetings will hopefully take place soon.
-
IF this were to be true then IMO the 'anti Lowe' fans would form a new club. There will be swathes of Saints fans who would NEVER support the old SFC again ( me included! ).

I tell you what Manji he talks more sense than you! He has been proven right, he told me in the Maple Leaf club back in about 1999 that this day would come, and I have to admit that I doubted him at the time. He said on the radio tonight that the PLC was was designed to stop people coming in and taking over ( I think he was referring to the fragmented shareholdings ) The way that the shares were spread out made it difficult for people to come in and oust him and Askham etc, thus protecting their little empire! He wants the Saints fans to WAKE UP and realise that ...... THIS IS FOR REAL!!!....................................SOUTHAMPTON FOOTBALL CLUB IS DAYS AWAY FROM EXTINCTION!!! It sounds as if there is NO DEAL IMMINENT! The club may not be around to play the Forest game on May 3rd!!! He wants all supporters and businesses in Southampton to give what they can to the SOS appeal so that a last ditch bid by the supporters groups can be made to save the club.

At the Q & A meeting last thursday it was said that the administrator wanted someone to underwrite this EX saints stars game at St Marys. Basically the money is needed NOW the 17th of May is too late. So they want someone to stump up £600K RIGHT NOW ( 30.000 spectators at £20 per head ) and then they'd get their money back when the game is played. BUT as Lawrie said who is going to gamble £600k? If only 10.000 turned up to watch the game then the guy who put up the money only gets £200k of his cash back!!! I can't imagine there would be too many people willing to gamble £600k!!!

He will still be working on things in the year 2525!!!

At the Q & A evening last Thursday Matt Le Tissier was asked if he'd ever consider managing Saints. His reply was that he started doing his coaching badges but found the process incredibly boring so halfway through part 2 he chucked it in. As he pointed out, to be able to manage in the Football league you need these badges so he said the answer to the question is NO, I will never manage Saints. I for one am glad of this as I dont ever want to be in the position where the team is struggling and we have to sack a club legend and have our memories of him soured. Remember Spurs and Hoddle!
-
The fact is the players are not good enough, but if you are crap and you aint trying very hard then you have not got a ****ing hope! To go down without a fight is totally acceptable!!! Quite evidently a TOTAL clear out is required as the current manager and players would be incapable of mounting a promotion push in League One ( thats assuming the club are around long enough to play in League One ). I would like to say well done to all you Saints fans who followed the team up there today. AT LEAST YOU GAVE YOUR ALL!!!.

I used to hate Luton when they had that plastic pitch and they used that old ID card system. BUT they have decent fans who have to suffer thrugh n fault of their own. I believe that a 30 point deduction was OTT and I really hope that they come back at the 1st attempt. Next season they may end up playing Oxford Utd in the conference, this game was a TOP FLIGHT FIXTURE back in the 1980's!!! I remember Luton beating Oxford 7-5 in the old 1st division! ALSO in 1991 Luton were in the old Division 1 and Eastleigh were ELEVEN divisions below in the Wessex League. Next season they may well meet in a league fixture!!!

To continue the above post that i accidently submitted before completing. My youngest sons 1st game was a borimg 0-0 draw v Birmingham in 2004, needless to say he never quite got the Saints bug like my eldest son! He now watches AFC Totton regularly and loves it!!!
-
My first game was Saints v Charlton in the League cup in Sept 76 when we drew 1-1 with Derek Hales scoring for Charlton and Pat Earles scoring for Saints. My Eldest sons 1st Saints game was when he was 5 and it was a pre season game against Bashley in 99. His first Saints game at the Dell was a pre season game at home to Lierse in 99. He loved watching Saints up untill a year or so ago. He has given up going now and has taken up fishing!!! My youngest sons 1st game was

What do most saints fans think about the club not owning St Marys? Surely this limits the clubs earning potential from conferences & concerts etc? Surely the earnings outweigh the costs of running the stadium? The only income the club would have would be from gate reciepts as their would be very little TV money in League One. I have to be honest and say that I am not totally comfortable with the idea of club not owning the stadium.
-
In my opinion, there would be plenty of support for the new Southampton. There may be a few around who would not follow the 'new saints' but many would, and in time as the new club moves up the non league structue many new fans would attach themselves to the new club. Lets hope the old saints find a new owner and survive though eh!
-
Hey man, chin up!!! Next season the new saints could be pressing for promotion from Wessex League Division One to the Wessex Premier ( whilst sharing Testwood Park with AFC Totton )
-
There are dangers with Billionaire owners such as when they get bored with their toy and pull their money out they could leave the club in the **** by leaving them with a huge wage bill and no way of being able to cover it. The ideal owner for me would be a rich fan of the club, at least when he ever decided enough is enough you'd l;ike to think he'd leave the club in a healthy state.

Why doesn't Lowe just walk off quietly into the sunset? He has done a few interviews since stepping down. Despite what he says about having no future involvement, i believe he likes the limelight too much and I wouldn't be surprised if he re-appears in the future. I really hope I am wrong though.
-
Very true the reaction of the Saints fans had a major influence on JP's departure and without a doubt if they hadn't of reacted like they did JP would've still been there, and as you say we would've been as good as relegated. The last two victories will get everybody believing that we can get out of it. Lets just hope that administration doesn't come alng and rob us of 10 points!
-
Manji, You talk total ********!!! A fair chunk of the 5000 that have stopped going since last season will have been down to Lowe's return ( I am one of them and I had been going to watch Saints for 33 years HARDLY FAIRWEATHER EH? I know of several others who stopped going due to Lowe aswell) There will be some fans that will have stopped going due to the ressession but they will be in the minority of that 5000. I bet you IF Lowe is gone come next August EVEN if we are in League one, crowds will be up on this season and I will be one of those who will start going again! The fact of the matter is that Lowe is divisive, I, and a fair few others knew that his coming back would be a disaster. Anyway Manj, you can go and stick your head back in the sand now!
-
IF the club were to die then Lowe, Wilde & Askham etc would need to change identities and emigrate to Greenland because there is no doubt in my mind that there would be thousands of people filled with a hatred far more severe than it is at this moment in time. It's Lowe, Wilde and that gutless bunch of wimpy shareholders who would be held responsible for the demise of the club in a vast majority of Saints fans eyes. As relegation and administration nears the anger will intensify MARK MY WORDS!!!
-

Who will you support if Saints go really under ?
CLOTH EARS replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Yeah I was there! Even had the pleasure of meeting Barry Davies ( BBC Commentator ) in the directors room. I stood on the covered terracing on the side opposite your main stand in the 1st half and stood behind the goal into which Totton were shooting in the 2nd half. Having the planes going over every 2 minutes drove me nuts, God knows how the locals cope with that! -
