Well as it stands QPR have a slightly better GD than Reading meaning they are only 8 points off survival where as Reading are adrift by 9 points... Even though they have the same number of points... Somehow.. But please don't turn this thread into that monstrosity that the WBA build up has become.
-
True but not by the point of the game which is what you'd wanna see.
-
Unfortunately not. That would have been a sight, seeing a whole stadium of relegated fans. Wonder if that's happened before... But no if they draw they'd both be 9 points behind Villa with 3 games left, hanging in there by the skin on their teeth.

Sorry about this everyone. Team A 39 -1 Team B 38 +1 Team C 38 0 By your logic team B have this effective point over Team C. But they are both on 38 points hence with this effective point you have given Team B for having a better goal difference they MUST move to 39 points right? Cos you have given them this point and 38 + 1 = 39... But hang on, doesn't that mean they are now on the same points as Team A? And they have a better goal difference than them too so they receive another effective point. This is all going on logic you have laid out. So this being the case they must effectively now be on 40 points right? And they will continue their march up the league table until they stop catching teams with 0 or 1 points more than them with inferior goal difference. I obviously know what you're getting at with this effective point and in layman's terms (such as if you were describing the league table to your girlfriend who isn't interested in football (or maths)) then it does suffice but if you follow the logic through of assigning all these effective points in the grand scheme of the entire table then it doesn't hold up and isn't an explicit explanation for the situation. As much as you have refused to accept it until now (just imagine that the goal difference column is removed and a team's points total could be say 38.5), whilst still slightly abstract, assigning an effective half point to a team with a better goal difference is a better way to explain it as it prevents you from catching a team with one more point than you but moves you above a team with who you are on equal points. Or if there are 3 teams on equal points then assigning 2/3's of an effective point, 1/3 of an effective point, 0 effective points respectively and so on. I acknowledge that no one would ever actually say that but I'm just explaining the logic of this conundrum. Score prediction for Saturday... 3-2 Saints. Bout time we had a cracker of a game.

I know what you mean Jimmy and I thought the same thing when they were lit up in gold on the league table and there we were too (albeit on the next page). It's a shame people on here have to lay into valid posts like they do (albeit challenging for the title is a little ambitious ha)

Is your fundamental problem people having an opinion that proves to be wrong or people having an opinion at all?
-
I don't think we have any chance of going down but I hear there are some who do. They must be thoroughly enjoying this thread right now. Have some consideration for them FFS.
-
Well it is for those who believe we aren't yet safe. And who cares? It might not be specifically Saints related but its good to be able to discuss the game and the main board is a more convenient place to do that given its likely to be of interest to pretty much everyone on here.

I don't get this impression from him at all. He always seems to be responsive and enthusiastic to me.
-
I just don't know what the lino thought he was doing getting involved here. Think its a case of know your place. It happened in the 6 yard box, that's referee territory. He can't have been that sure about it either seeing as he got it wrong. Unless he saw something that he knew would explicitly rule out the goal then he shouldn't flag. If he just thought the coming together was too heavy that's not his decision to make.
-
Good to hear pal. Hope you enjoy your first visit. When the lads stroke the ball around like they can at home it's fantastic to watch.
-
Agreed, he did very well. Think he's beginning to understand his own limitations more. He's not bombing forward and trying to be creative but instead just concentrating on his defensive play. Doing him the world of good in a positional sense and I think he is now adequate back up to Shaw.
-
FT. Suppose you'd take that given the way the game went.
-
Set pieces are just thoroughly pointless for us
-
FFS. Decent hit from Schneiderlin there and that could have been very dangerous. Also is it just me or does anyone else not get excited by corners at all anymore. Can't remember the last time we scored from one.
-
Ahhh close!! Mayuka should have hit it first time I think
-
Mayuka coming on. Make a name for yourself lad!
-
Great save Boruc
-
Very poor from Lallana. Thankfully Dyer is having a mare
-
Substitution is precautionary apparently. Let's hope it doesn't effect our style of play too much.
-
Great play from Jack Cork
-
Peculiar substitution that...
-
Sorry Mark Halsey this isn't rugby. First phase of play only for advantage. You can't allow them to continue then when the next player ****s up, walk back 10 yards and give the free kick.

What was that foul for??
