  1. See also: "Dear Boro. We'll want at least £3m to let Lukas go. We'd quite like it now. Lots of love, Ken D @ Cov City"!
  2. That's the one I'm pretty sure, circa 96 / 97? Nearly had a rage-faint over that, if it is that one!
  3. Scum scum scum (repeat) every time he stands up. Admittedly not a song, but something I'd like to see from the whole ground nonetheless.
  4. Just picked mine up. Will be away from life for the next 3 months or so...!
  5. 1:33 for me today - 5 mins off my previous personal best for 10m. Took great delight in picking up this season's home shirt from Adi @ the Saints Foundation this morning, and wearing it round the course. Fair play to the watching Phew, all good-natured stick only, and I gave as good as I got!! Plenty of Saints in the crowd as well, based on some of the shout outs on the way round...
  6. "We are Southampton: we're never happy!!"
  7. Perhaps, but hopefully there'd be a spark, and I'd turn her on first!
  8. Giving this a little nudge: how's it going, any Saints Foundation (or otherwise) GSR runners on here??
  9. I hereby bestow upon the "disparate man" joke a wry smile of appreciation: it did make me chortle to myself first time round...!
  10. If it turns out to be a female candidate, I'd very much like to meter...!
  11. Ohm-y God, some of these puns are terrible!
  12. I was there last night, came away mostly wondering how that tie would have panned out with Seaborne and Barnard available for 90 mins. We've clearly got no-one in the development squad within touching distance of replacing Hooiveld otherwise Jack Cork, who could probably use a rest as much as any of the 1st IX, wouldn't be playing 90 mins out of position and conceding sloppy opening goals. The thought of having Seaborne out and the Hoover going back to Celtic in Jan doesn't sit well, I hope all the stops are being pulled out behind the scenes to ensure we go into the 2nd half of the season with a partner for Fonte and an available backup. I'm surprised we haven't used the loan market again to cover Seaborne's absence. Forte looked poor. He went to ground as soon as anyone looked at him, which can't have helped us with a ref who looked like he wouldn't help a blind old dear cross the road if she was wearing a Saints shirt. Much is made of his pace, but the few times I've seen him, defenders have comfortably dealt with that with reasonable positioning. Nothing to show last night he shouldn't be in the dev. squad at best. Not bothered we're out the cup, but we didn't need to be. And I hate losing to Palace...
  13. Aces!
  14. To steal a phrase from my boy whenever he's given something to eat that consists of less than 75% sugar: "That's yucky!"
  15. To this day, still good to bring at least 3 types of tear to my eye!!
  16. Easy: both!
  17. Surprised with September deadline for sponsorship days away we've not heard something this week... I'm going to stick to the last plan, unless he sends an update!
  18. I've put a handful of 10 milers in over the past few weeks. I'm big and not quick (1:41 last year, down from 1:46 before that) but will be a stone or so lighter on the day, and hopefully manage a PB! I'm at SMS Saturday. Had an email from Adi Butterworth a while back with the logistics for Saturday, should have it to send on if anyone needs.
  19. This, pretty much. I'm not old enough to remember the Lawrie Mac era. I grew up watching Matty, he's a true Saints legend and was as good a footballer as I ever expect to have the privilege to watch. But who's to say what might have happened if he'd moved on, or picked up some sort of career ending injury. The common consensus seems to be we'd have dropped like a stone. Maybe though (suspend your disbelief for a moment), we'd have somehow forged a side capable of winning without Matty in it...? It didn't happen, so we don't know. But we do know that we're currently enjoying our best start to a season since ... Well pretty much ever. We're on a record-breaking streak of home wins, we're financially secure, team spirit is at an absolute high under an enthusiastic and tactically proficient manager, and we're putting together an excellent squad with a solid infrastructure behind it. Quite frankly, if the man behind all that doesn't want to kiss Matty's arse, I'm not about to criticise him for it.
  20. This is the CRAP jokes thread: there's no place for that joke here!
  21. Besides Pompey for this season: League: Brighton: I'd actually not mind, living near there, to see them do alright - one place behind us would be great. But a league double's required to put their manager and a section of their fanbase back in their box. West Ham: punish their apparent **** or bust approach to gaining promotion, and mindful of a link on here a while back (when we were ludicrously linked to Boa Morte) where an ill-advised Hammers blogger referred to us as "cash-strapped Southampton" and tried to justify it, badly, when corrected. Palace: I know a few Palace, working in Croydon as I do. I'll need a win to prevent my copping the almighty big'un. And there's always something strangely satisfying about an away win @ Dellhurst Park... Blackpool and Burnley: assuming their current managers remain in situ. Cup: an FA cup run that starts with us whacking a rugby score past Bompey at theirs, and ends with a cagey 1-0 win over Arsenal via wins v Liverpool and Spurs will do me nicely!
  22. That chap's an extreme example: but I'm less inclined to argue the scales of reaction to him to that of someone with a small tattoo on (say) the back of their hand, than I am to agree that the guy looks a freak even to my more forgiving eyes!
  23. That's an interesting take on the debate. I agree very strongly with the last sentence!
