I wish the London ballot was more like Berlin's: theirs took a month for the first ballot results to come out, and a further two weeks for the second ballot (which I got in on!) I did the Brighton / London double in 2012 Pancake. They were a week apart that year, and my legs didn't thank me for it!

I'd normally take the same approach, but I've done London, and it's 2 weeks after the Brighton Marathon, which I do every year, so I've decided I'm doing this! I should probably see if I can withdraw my VLM ballot application. Good luck in the ballot, hope you get the "yes" magazine!

I've just signed up to run the new Southampton half that's kicking off next year: http://marafunuk.com/ It's the day after the Spuds home game, so I might make a weekend of it! It's also the same day as the London Marathon, so I'll have to give that a swerve if I get a ballot place. Anyone on here signed up, or likely to?

Brighton half is full I do believe - popular run, goes quite quickly. I'm in, easy one for me as I live nearby, and it's a PB course! Might still be charity routes in perhaps...

I'm in at Berlin next year, nabbed a place in the second ballot! I'll have a look at the blog... While I'm posting: Brighton 10k yesterday - new PB of 46:21 for me, which would seem to suggest my legs have finally forgiven me for putting them through the Purbeck, Bournemouth and Beachy Head marathons within the space of 6 weeks recently!

I'm in the hat for London again too - though it'll be a bind if I get in as I'm already doing Brighton the week before, and Madrid on 27/4! Brighton's closed for next year but it's a worthy rival for London in my opinion, and worth a look one year. Some good smaller marathons out there too, especially if you take to the trails. I'm doing Purbeck in 3 weeks, followed by Bournemouth on 6th October and Beachy Head on GSR weekend, which means sadly I'll be ending a 4 year GSR streak. Good luck Great South Runners!

A half decent tattooist would have told him to sling his hook when he asked for that. When I were a young'un, I tried to get a tattoo of a ring on my finger (don't ask) at The Tattoo Man in Lodge Rd back went Steve Ferguson was there. He rightly sent me packing, saying he wouldn't work on the hands / neck / face of anyone the age I was at the time.
