  1. Do you sell Kirby hoovers, Stu? You sound the type.
  2. I have to agree with those posters that said that we are glad to have a football club to support at all. Let's face it, anyone would have taken this scenario four weeks ago, even in the midst of the Pinnacle debacle. These things take time - three weeks of which was completely wasted during the period of exclusivity while Lynam said the right things and Fialka ransacked his old dear's couch for a spare 14 million. I'd rather that ML's team /did/ the right things and see a little less of the "sense of entitlement" while they go about doing them. If it takes a few years, so be it. We have those years in front of us now. We couldn't have said that three weeks ago.
  3. After becoming handy with computers, it always amazed me to see how poor articles in the mainstream press were on my area of expertise. I'm guessing that they're just as inaccurate on areas I know little about, such as health and education. It'd be odd for football to be the exception.

    Bad News!

From the Guardian's wonderfully sarc-y Barry Glendenning :- "Gordon Strachan is being lined up for what is being dubbed a "shock return" to Southampton. Saints officials refused to deny that Strachan was at their training ground yesterday, which is tantamount to a full and frank confession in the Rumour Mill's eyes. Whether or not the former Celtic manager would be able to handle the massive step-up from the SPL to League One remains to be seen." Made me chuckle. 5. Keegan doesn't seem to fit with the "build slowly" mantra coming from the club. It'd be great if he came. Think he's the perfect bloke to reboot Southampton's fortunes, for reasons that have already been enumerated above.
  6. Love your post, mate. My sentiments exactly. What would you say to KK : Year One?
  7. All I'll say is that I would not buy a used car from Lynam.
  8. There's a big difference between loyalty and "hanging on for dear life". I know he had the Egyptian offer, but realistically, that's like being able to manage Totton when you're currently at the helm of Tottenham.
  9. I'd like a manager with the personal clout to bring in players that wouldn't normally come to League One. Keegan would be my first choice.

    New manager?

Soz. Admin - set thread to lock!

    New manager?

Anyone expect Wotte to survive the takeover? If not, who would be your choice to replace him? Who would be best suited at getting us out of League 1 at first time of asking ( a big ask, but if you don't ask, you don't get! ). I'd still like Keegan.
  12. I'll be buying my first season ticket, even though I'm geographically knacked being split between Northern Ireland and Liverpool at the minute. Still, me mum will be happy to see me once a fortnight
  13. I am so happy I could almost break the forum rules. Almost. Instead, I'll go with a classic and say... Smucking Fart!!!
  14. I spend a great deal of time in Kilkeel, but born and bred in Southampton
  15. Fair dos, boys. I retract my last sentence.
  16. I don't think your "company" comparison is germane in these circumstances. If Nike went bust, I can buy Adidas because I don't have an emotional investment. If the Southampton Football Company ceases to exist, I am not about to start buying football entertainment from the Portsmouth Football Company.
  17. I live in Liverpool these days. It's rare to find somebody who doesn't support either Liverpool or Everton. Contrast that with Southampton. Half the people there don't care about football at all, and half of those that are left are glory-hunters who support big teams. Even among Saints fans, there has been a ton of division. Pro-Lowe, anti-Lowe, stayaways, "only interested when we were in the Premiership". Gutted that we could be closing up shop this Friday. If we don't, that stadium needs to be filled. The number of empty seats the last couple of years has been an embarrassment. Say what you like about the sk*tes, but they've always been there for their team.
  18. I think this is "screamy bum time". Really hope something gets sorted by the end of the week.
  19. It's a stretch, but was merely referring to current Division One final points that took the teams into automatic promotion. If someone like KK can keep and bring players into L1 that otherwise, would not give us a second glance, we've got a top chance - even with the -10 deduction. The most important thing about our hoped-for resurrection is setting the stall out early and correctly. We've already missed early. Let us hope that all future decisions for the club are correct.
  20. All. I've paid my £5, so let discussion commence. When we were docked the 10 points, I thought fair enough. We were trying to break the spirit of the law through financial prestidigitation - even though the letter of the law is something quite different. I happen to agree with the general sentiment that the FL would lose a high court battle simply because they didn't set their parameters loosely enough when they made the rule. As I understand it, every club has had to waive the right of appeal after a takeover. So, back to original post. I honestly believe that if we have substantial financial backing and KK in charge, these points are going to be irrelevant. Why? KK has a proven record of getting lower division teams promoted. When he took Fulham up, they had 101 points by close of play. True, he did this by getting players that were outside their contemporaries budgets, but it was done. On current form, we'd finish second and gain automatic promotion. What concerns me is that this takeover is dragging on - pre-season preparations are in disarray and there is literally no ownership at the club right now. Wotte doesn't know what the future holds, Kelvin Davis is allegedly coaching goalkeepers and the rest of the transfer market is well and truly active. I'd take resolution, solid financial backing and an inspirational manager over 10 points any day. Better to be an alive man with a chance than a dead man with principles.
  21. In truth, this is probably my fourth post. I definitely posted after our 3-2 win at Burnley when we lost out to Derby in playoffs. A local resident had flippers for hands. You can't not comment on that sort of caper. Dunno what's happened to the stats tho'. When do I have to pay my £5?
  22. If we really do have hundreds of millions in backing, and someone like KK in the frame, cannot see why we're holding out for these ten points. Something doesn't add up.
