So the 'influx' are the problem, are they? It's a gross over-simplification that ignores the fact that when immigrants started arriving from the colonies, white people treated them appallingly. Ok, so we are all products of our times. The people who had to deal with immigration at that point in time were less equipped to deal with different cultures than we are now. So if you've arrived somewhere, the natives are treating you like shyte, and the only people that'll give you the time of day are your own immigrant compatriots, doesn't take a genius to work out what happens next. While we can't go back and correct the attitudes of the 1950s, we can at least try and assess where we are now and suggest solutions. What are yours, dune?

The main problem you may have is the fact that the original game was designed with only 256 colours in mind. On modern versions of Windows, apps sometimes freak when that happens and bugger up the colours. If you have any bother, there is a setting in the openttd.cfg ( will be in your Documents dir under OpenTTD ). fullscreen_bpp It's left blank atm, but if you change it to :- fullscreen_bpp = 32 You'll be able to run the bugger at full screen without the colours fecking up.

Guilty as charged, The9! :sheep:

Race is definitely an issue. Black people feel like they're victimised by the Police. That's because they are. Some of my black mates get stopped 2/3 times a week just because they have the audacity to own and drive a decent car. The Met has admitted that it is institutionally racist. Look at how long the Stephen Lawrence case has dragged on. Or the Panorama secret investigations. The Met are also trigger happy. Just look at the shooting of Juan Charles de Menezes at Stockwell Tube station, or indeed, the shooting of Mark Duggan. Racist and trigger happy is not a good combination. The genie was let out of the bottle in the 1980s when the police were given carte blanche to crack down on the miners.

The fundamental law of any system is that people will try to subvert it. On a similar note, what happens if someone skies the ball out of the stadium?

I didn't about this. Who was in for him?

I actually rang GMTV once and complained about her. She's an idiot.
-
Nah, I think their parents moved them down there for better opportunities. Tsk. Look how that turned out.
-
The officials were bloody awful. The ref looked an expert on matchday tuck, while the bloke who gave the penalty looked like Travis Bickle in waiting.

MLT is rightly beloved by Southampton fans, years after his retirement from the game. Hopefully, Lallana will choose to stay with Saints and become recognised as a Southampton FC legend. Awesome player.
-
Dunno if this has been linked, but some analysis of yesterday's game. Leeds destroyed by Saints on opening day. The guy has some pretty impressive things to say about Saints :-
-
Yep. Shocking. There was a quote from one bloke saying "Think this might be our last night in Tottenham. Don't know how they allowed this to happen." Thing is, absent a massive display of force, most riots are almost impossible to stop once the seeds have been planted. First, there is normally a genuine reason for people being aggrieved. Second, people like to break and steal sh*t. They do seem to be more common under a Tory watch, though.

I hope they continue their dodgy tactics throughout their brief tenure in the Championship. The more teams that get to see them for what they really are, the better imo.

I like how you used technology to decry people who use technology. btw, I never made excuses not to do P.E. I bunked off.

Lovely goal from Deano yesterday.

Doesn't it go on alphabetical order at this stage? Even at 3-0 up, we'd have been second in the table. I know we could have claimed that we were "joint top", but no table in the land would have shown it that way. So the penno doesn't matter. Not really.
-
Oh, stop it the pair of yas. And enjoy.
-
And er, if we win 3-1 every game, we'll fackin' walk this league
-
Never a penno, but brilliant result. Well done to the team for putting another nail in the Sky hoodoo coffin and delivering our best opening day for some time. Proud to be a Saint.

Very good game. Leeds look a little out of sorts. Agree that Martin made an error, but the boy is young, and it is encouraging to see the support he's getting whenever he's putting something out of danger. 2-0 might flatter us slightly, as Leeds have had a couple of spells in possession, but overall, we deserve to be going into the second half with that lead.
-
Yup. Thought that myself.

...is not having to watch 50mins of meaningless Championship coverage on the Football League show. Will we get more than 3 seconds of coverage per show now? Is anyone still going to watch League One?

As I've said a couple of times, I think Cortese has done good things for the club. That does not make him immune from criticism. I can understand the opinions of people leaping onto defend him. Overall, our progress with him as chairman has been pleasing. It's difficult to argue with success. That said, there have been some mis-steps during his tenure. Perhaps that is to be expected. Being the chairman of a sports club is unlike any other job in business. Even people that are running multi-billion dollar operations are relatively unknown. He has walked into a job where he is immediately under the scrutiny of the fan base, and I'm still not sure that he has entirely come to terms with that. His handling of the press has been naive and counter-productive and Jemal's account of Cortese being the specific cause of a transfer not happening is worrying. History will give us a better account of whether he is wrong or right, but in the meantime, the man is not immune from criticism just because we've been promoted. I'm here because I support Southampton FC. Cortese has been instrumental in moving the club forward, so he has my support. That doesn't mean I think he's perfect, and it doesn't mean others shouldn't be able to express similar views without getting shot down.

Well, that's partly true. The Young brothers were born in Scotland. So was Bon Scott. Brian Johnson is a Geordie.

That was actually on my stereo five minutes ago.
