That's an interesting question too. Based on current projections, a race to the bottom and securing vital resources? It certainly seems to be the way of things at the moment. This Counterpunch article suggests economic reasons for US involvement in Eastern Europe, stating that the US is trying to position itself as gatekeeper between nations that would otherwise be economically co-operating, enjoying a good deal of integration. http://www.counterpunch.org/2015/03/18/washingtons-war-on-russia/

Nah, but was kind enough to point me back to Swaythling. Ended up at Mitre before getting picked up by the bro. Local logistics ftw.

Yeah, she's delicious in Firefly, not so hot in V (which I didn't enjoy that much) but has a decent role in Gotham. She's playing Leslie Thompkins, who ends up being a Batman confidant in the comics, knowing his identity etc.
-
She is reported pull-free all the way to St Deny's Station. I cannot speak to her activities beyond that point, but the known SaintsWeb group was distilled to myself and Goatboy then. South Western Arms, innit?

Was solid against what he had to deal with, barring one attack I remember where he went to ground far too early. Was inconsequential because our defender got it, but it would have been a huge problem had it permeated the defence at a height of say, 1.5 ft or more It was one of his first involvements in the game, and as you say, 13 months. It'd be ridiculous to suggest that Kelv is a better player than he was a couple of years ago. However, he's probably behind the best team he's ever had, and that should count for something.
-
Figuratively crapped my pants when Kelv came on today. I have never been impressed with him as a Premier League keeper. That said, he has never had a finer Southampton outfield in front of him than he did today. The goalkeeper should be a last resort, and when called upon, Kelv did his job. Prior experience would suggest doom based on individiual performance, and I'm not trying to sugarcoat this. We are poorer without Forster in goal. However, we are richer on other areas of the pitch, and the services of the goalkeeper can be greatly facilitated by the work that other players do.

Well, we've three more games until the end of the season. Think big, Bucks. Let's go for double figures. Was a pleasure to do the drinkies again, meet your nipper, and enjoy the company of two new members of... CONFIRMED REAL LIFE SAINTSWEB MEMBERS* *If of course, you disregard the ridiculous conspiracy theory that you are all products of my imagination

It's initially a slow burner, but it really ramps up. Lots of consecutive "best ever" episodes in the middle of the first season run. I was very disheartened with the show's cancellation, and if I'm honest, have been jonesing for a decent spaceship show since Battlestar Galactica. The happy truth is that Firefly gets a decent ending through Serenity, and all of Joss Whedon's "children" have gone on to do more of what he did, Gotham being among them (Jane Espenson).

I had a complicated relationship with our erstwhile former nawty king, but I think it was always based on merit. I railed against the bloke for his seemingly unresolvable issues with "what racism is, exactly" but as soon as I realised that:- 1) Poster intent is to take the p!ss 2) Posted content may be designed to take the p!ss. 3) Someone else will issue outrage, even if I don't. ...it became less of an issue. The high point of our relationship depends on who you speak to If you chatted to Turkish, he'd probably say that our defining moment was when I conflated the heady combination of "I don't understand racism" with his UI username, "Del Bianco", which literally translates to "the White". I made the colossal error of linking the two. Occam's razor, and indeed most public records, will verify Turkish's counterclaim that his real life surname was "White", was correct. If you speak to me, I'd point to a thread started on the UI, intended to harm myself and forum ally buctootim (how times change!), ending up as a complete drubbing for several posters on our less wordily allocated sister site. It was this incident that provides personal chuckles every time Turkish claims has never been defeated on a mongboard. That all said, I'm going to miss the boy. How many of us really value those relationships in which you've agreed from day one and never had any issues? That's essentially dog ownership, isn't it? Worthwhile, but not especially challenging. Turkish deserves a bit of respect for loads of reasons. Did he take the p!ss? Yes. Is that sometimes required? Definitely, especially with the amount of me-too-ers that inhabit the site. Having a proper toe-to-toe with someone gives you an indication of how far someone is prepared to go in the service of one-up-manship. Here's where I find the biggest disconnect between Turkish rep and reality. I can't remember Turks ever inventing anything to prove a point, and in terms of "nuclear option" posters, the boy was a pussycat. That ain't a bad thing, and speaks to his legacy as a poster. He was always more interested in taking the p!ss than opening a vein. He'll be missed.

Goatboy was the fkn boy when it came to staying out. Nice bloke too, who I am sure could hold his own in any debate under the right circumstances*. * He can be arsed**. ** I don't blame him for not being arsed

So half time report is that we had five Saints Web members turn up. With our hangers on, the group was an impressive eight in size. Heading back for a couple of pints afterward. Come say hello if you wish. The two newbies were Goatboy and Lets B Avenue, presumably two other people I have invented to sell the "Lou" story

Some of the above images and videos illustrate why I ask the question about where America will be in a century. It's not that violence doesn't exist in other countries, but the US seems to amplify problems that occur infrequently in other parts of the world. The police shootings stat is a good example. The video backs up a point I made earlier in the thread and that Sarnia took great exception to. 60% of Americans say they would feel safer by owning a handgun. These guns can only be used within the US, so presumably it is other residents that make them feel unsafe. The demographic changes, both in proportions of various ethnic groups, and their distribution, is interesting. Many black families that moved North to escape the oppression of the South back in the day, are now returning to the Southern states. Places like Charlotte and Atlanta are what the Americans called "majority minority", a rather Orwellian way of saying white people are outnumbered. The population is hugely mobile in comparison to other countries, and travel much greater distances to live and work. People think little of moving a few thousand miles away. The US is a country without a great deal of recorded history to draw from, comprised mostly of immigrant stock, a process which continues unabated, both legally and illegally, to this day. People continue to receive wildly uneven treatment on the basis of their race. What are the ties that bind? Are they going to be enough to keep this fractured nation together over the long term?

Well, that's the thing. Different people come here for different reasons. Anyone who spent any time here should have twigged that Turks was here to take the p!ss, and there are two possible reactions to that. Ignore it, or get upset. Given that half the people can't ignore the innocuous stuff, it was almost a foregone conclusion that people would take the hump when he started a thread that many would find genuinely objectionable. That all said, Turks can't really have it both ways. Like yourself, he's done the serious business quote before. I've little confidence that Turks really cared about SaintsWeb censorship, was probably just starting a provocative thread in one of his meltdown moments. We're all capable of them. Sincerely or not, he was asking people to treat this forum lark as serious business when his enterprises were being shut down. Personally, I've no real issue with the modding on this site. I've had a little bit of my content 1984'ed, but never enough to make me start a thread about how oppressed I am, comparing on-site conditions to a totalitarian death camp.
-
I saw it posted on Facebook and just thought it was perfect for this thread. Look, if you've a serious raccoon problem, just use your innate British knife throwing skills to dispense with it.
-
The other thread was totally deleted. Idiotic choice of title, by the way - compounded with a spelling mistake. If Turks had gone with something relating to 1984, just as relevant, he'd still have a thread and an active user account.

Not for the first time, I'm with you Jonnyboy. I'm very pleased to have Toby back in the side, but Fonte is what you'd call a long-time player. I think people have forgotten how ably he has dealt with different levels of opposition over the years, Premier League standard for the last three. As it goes, I think the whole defensive unit makes each other look good. We're normally breaking up play so much that when Fonte does get a touch, it is usually the result of a backpass, and usually the start of another attacking move. Very compact in defence when up against it too. Most of all though, there's a reason he has been made captain. No matter what, league one to our current lofty heights, the man has taken responsibility. There has rarely been talk of him leaving the club, and never any wantaway noise from the player himself. Absolutely superb that we are surrounding the man with quality, but as you can see in other far more expensively assembled teams, quality means nowt if no-one gives a sh!t. Fonte gives a sh!t, and deserves the praise you're giving him.

Also, pointless and sarcastic remarks are the glue that holds this site together.

I was thinking more of the generals that had retained a sense of honour from previous conflict, had given the regime the benefit of the doubt and realised, too late, that they were on the wrong side. More the Valkyrie plotters.
-
I'm pleased to hear of that solution regardless. But yeah, the Pi 2 setup has gone down a treat in the living room. I was expecting it to take a while to bed in; I bought ms pap a Chromecast for Christmas. She was entirely unimpressed at the time, but uses it frequently now. I just love using XBMC (as it used to be called) again. Had a chipped XBox back in the day. Until the arrival of HD, that was the best media player I had. Played anything. It's really come into its own in the really fast internet age.

I think a more fitting tribute would be simple placards of A4 size, bearing the legend "Free the Turkish One". It'd be proper lols and we'd look classy and internationalist on MoTD, like we cared about an imprisoned journalist or something. To your inkjet printers!
-
Unfortunately, that scuppers one of the major plus points of Chromecast, namely that you can continue to use your tablet while casting. However, that sort of behaviour is to be frowned upon when watching movies anyway
-
Can I tempt you with 5-1? Perhaps sir will enjoy this delicious 4-nil
-
Ah, yes. The whole metaphor might explain what happened to Justice Mike. Perhaps he didn't like what the regime was doing and they rubbed him out.

You posted something about how the posters on SaintsWeb weren't really the victims of the establishment, more the guards following orders. What did you say about the mods again?
