You just know the new Star Wars film is going to be full of stupid characters making inexplicable, plot friendly decisions. The only saving grace was that Lucas messed the last ones up so badly, anything is going to be better. Hopefully Laurence Kasdan has still got it, and will prevent JJ Abrams from just having each and every cast member say "I've got a bad feeling about this".
  2. I can be a bit eye for an eye, compared with your average lefty, but council estate, innit? In the vast majority of cases, I seek cordiality and harmony, even with former foes. If, however, someone decides to give it, taking the píss is one of the four things I'm good at. Situation explained! Thanks though, Smirkers. It's been a rough old ride at times, but I reckon you've been fairer than most. Agreed. She has provided much amusement, even if most of that was independently driven by others. Top skills on the drinking front, although I reckon a few of us are close to losing our "lone wolf" (grr, grr, etc) status as a result. Jeff's alright. I respect him because he stands his ground on his own, even if I fundamentally disagree with the point he's making. Hypo has actually improved, but he still thinks the path to forum glory is the belittling of other posters, or getting in with the bigger boys. He's the classic case of someone that would benefit from coming back with a fresh user account, and no baggage.
  3. That would help, yes.
  4. I dunno. Always room for improvement.
  5. One day, a happy day, we'll all be able to compensate for wind and distance.
  6. Be sure to mention my plans for succession while you're there. If Charles is about, I'm sure he'll be all ears.
  7. Yeah, c'mon Lou, you big narcissist. Hypo has tried grooming VFTT and Convict Colony in the last week alone (check his post history!). It's not all about you, Lou
  8. Let's hope they give a crap about the plight of women under their indifferent governance then. http://www.theguardian.com/society/2013/sep/21/spending-cuts-women-report
  9. Well, I don't know. People can be very fickle. I haven't got baps, for a start. FWIW though, if there is a "best poster" award to be had on this site, I don't want it nor would I ever get it. I make far too many enemies in the prosecution of my posting duties. I'm happy enough for the occasional poster to break ranks and say "that pap, y'know. He's not nearly as much as a c*** as I first thought". Keep your ambitions moderated and you'll never be disappointed
  10. I bet I'm not one, going by your previous form in these "awards-y" threads. I'm not that arsed, amazingly.

    Drink?

I'm coming down for this one, and yeah, don't mind the South Western Arms at all.
  12. And? It's classic exception proves the rule stuff. You're using the contents of a deliberative provocative article to say that this is somehow indicative of the Labour Party because a Labour Party member said it. Yeah, that's member. Not MP, MEP or anything official. Labour Party member. Who happens to be a journalist. That wrote a provocative article. Even in the midst of the UKIP witch-hunt, those seeking to discredit UKIP targeted politicians. That should really give an indication of how far you've had to go to make this point. Labour Party member. Arf.

Bwah. Prometheus. Looks good, but is an insult to the intelligence. Found it impossible to get through the first viewing without several moments of disbelief, over stupid stuff too. Here is a good summary of that movie's massive capability to blunder. http://whatculture.com/film/prometheus-20-blunders-that-ruined-the-film.php LOST's Damon Lindelhof handled script-writing. The entire LOST writing team are all f**king hacks, imo.
  14. How do you know that the perpetrators of this incident didn't belong to some far left group? You don't, but you're still happy to assume that they are part of some mythical rainbow coalition you've just invented. In truth, the left is just as fragmented as the right. No point has been missed, but I did enjoy the projection and the creative writing.
  15. This bash the left stuff is pathetic the moment you put a minute's thought into it. With respect to the war memorial monument, I could just as easily link some footage of the EDL and pretend that they are somehow representative of the right, but I don't, because they aren't, and it's pathetic.
  16. Please refrain from perpetuating the myth that cats are crap at maths. I hired two cats to do my accounts for a couple of former businesses, and they were both fine*. I find cats to be aloof customers when dealing with auditors and representatives of Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. * apart from a couple of insolvencies.
  17. +1 respect for Brewster's Millions reference, Bear.
  18. You've got to speculate to accumulate, Bear. That's a very small outlay for a grand criminal scheme, and that's assuming there wasn't a pre-requisite mission in which a man with an apparent limp walked out of B&Q with a pair of bolt cutters down a trouser leg.
  19. How is it that big DIY can go around firing people with no apparent consequences, but when a group of my former school pals go into B&Qs across the country, load up trollies full of expensive DIY items, leave said trollies in garden area, then come back for them late at night armed with bolt cutters, they get sentenced to over a decade in prison?
  20. I found hypo's surprise amusing too. When has a Party ever gone into an election with its followers saying "don't vote for us. we think it's all shít"?
  21. They are cheap, mobile youth clubs in the winter.
  22. The case for electoral reform has got to be more compelling. Oddly enough, this election may allow that case to be made a lot more credibly. We've seen little from the Conservative majority government thus far, but their agenda of cuts will soon kick in, and we'll probably have two or three years of manufactured austerity before they turn the taps back on in 2018. This is one of the least proportional results in history, so it'll be the perfect combination of a party with an anomalous mandate making unpopular decisions. The situation up in Scotland is also a pretty outrageous FPTP outcome. The issue has the potential to rear its head over and over during the coming Parliament. I hope shurlock is right and Labour grasp the nettle. I personally can't see it, because FPTP suits them so well, and they lost their democratic high and mighty values quicksmart during the AV campaign.
  23. I like the idea of larger constituencies with more candidates to get a proportional result. Local accountability is important, but I do wonder how vociferously an MP is going to champion your case if he or she has voted in favour of the proposal giving you grief. The likelihood of something like STV is that you'd probably have Labour and Tory MPs up and down the country, serving both rural and urban areas. That really isn't a bad thing.
