I agree Toussaint, I thought his natural role was as a strong, athletic, primarily defensive midfielder. I thought his confidence dipped when he was asked to play a different role I.e. ball retention which was not his natural strength. I think his defensive skills would have suited the PL better than the Championship,ironically. He certainly would have been a better opinion than Big Les who has done nothing after a few early cameos.

I agree, he was sacked at Birmingham when they were doing well as they wanted to bring in Rooney (did SR advise them)?

No need for that sort of language re Lallana, I still hold him in high regard from his first spell with Saints where he never let us down, always gave 100% as I think he has (when he is fit) in his second stint.

The correct decision but far too late. I think the majority of Saints fans wanted a replacement after the Bournemouth shitshow. RM was at fault for his inability to change his possession obsession (although, personally, I feel that he just wasn't up to the job). However, the real culprits here are Sports Republic who gave him far too much rope. They should be the main focus of our criticism as their decision not to sack him earlier 1) gives a new manager almost no chance of keeping us in the PL and 2) reduces the list of managers who would be interested in the job. So, this is a plea to SR to sort out the management structure that has led to poor managerial decisions and equally poor transfer dealings. The clock is reset, it is now time to get it right.

Even, if a new manager fails to keep us up, which is likely, at least we could go into next season in the Championship with positive momentum. A decent run will also give the players something to cling on to, rather than desperate to flee a sinking ship.

I think Blackmore is an interesting and passionate commentator. I enoy his podcasts with the excellent Jo Tessem As an interviewer he has to balance asking the difficult questions with the need not to be shut out by the club, which has happened in the past. It isn't an easy juggling job and sometimes he gets it wrong but generally I think he tries to do the right thing.

This is very contradictory but ultimately overly supportive of Russ. On one hand, you acknowledge that Russ is part of the problem "because he refuses to do anything other than go out doing it his way" and yet you want him to stay on and have a chance next season. as you think he will probably get us promoted again. I fundamentally disagree with this proposition. 1) A manager that can see that his way is failing (miserably) in any league but arrogantly refuses to change should be sacked. 2) The promotion from the Championship, whilst a wonderful day out, was more luck based than careful managerial planning (Bazunu's injury played a big part, forcing Russ to abandon his possession obsession approach). 3) The main reason we ended up in the play-offs was that even Championship teams had sussed out that Russ has one matchday approach only and they set up accordingly resulting in a very poor set of results during the crucial run-in period. 4) After the Wembley success, most Saint's fans could see that Russ's possession, obsession tactic had been sussed and was generally not succeeding against poorer quality Championship teams and therefore was never going to work in the Premiership against vastly superior teams. So, if we could see this - why the hell couldn't Russ a) see this? and b) change the approach once it had been tried and was obviously failing after 7-10 games this season. Especially, in crucial home matches against Ipswich and Leicester. 5) In recent weeks, Russ has blamed both the fans and the players for his team's results, in public. Both, unforgiveable. He has to go to allow another manager to start to work with these players, who despite what they say about him being the best thing since sliced bread (nice hugs?) must be sick to death of losing each week ... especially, that he is is now slagging them off as well.

Instantaneous? it's nearly three years now since SR took over. They have wasted millions, had more managers than years of existence and appear to have no strategy. Incredulously, they have underperformed compared to the chancer without a pot to piss in, Gao. Apart from that, I would say they are doing a great job
