I was stating my opinion that if JWP goes for £50million then £50 million will not be available to replace him this transfer window. Okay?
-
I haven't received mine
-
In your opinion

A single opinion does not indicate entitlement or being a member of a "fictional" group; however, your reply was spoken with entitlement and in a spoilt brat manner with no sense of irony. Do you comprehend that it is possible to criticise our club and still be an optimistic supporter?
-
Thank God it hasn't. With 2 weeks left to the transfer window we have left it far too late to get anyone decent in and I don't think there would be £50m left anyway for replacements after Gao has trousered a good chunk of it. To lose Bertrand, Vestergaard, Ings and then our club captain / free kick specialist / penalty taker in one window would be suicidal.

Well, he is from abroad...

Absolutely, we weren't a threat from any of them

Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester

After watching that shit shower of a defence this afternoon, I think I would take Liverpool's Phillips in a heart beat -
Indeed, surely the purpose of a forum like this is to impart news and share opinions. Sometimes a view will be shared and someone will disagree. When things become very dull for most viewers is when the same point is discussed over and over between a small group of two or three posters, often having nothing to do with the actual thread. Perhaps the forum should have a special "spare room" on the side where these "spats" can continue without de-railing the chat for everyone else. 😅

I agree that Pochettino is a great manager and forged an attractive yet combative Saints team. However, I don't think that he had much to do with Shaw's footballing ability. Shaw's prodigious talent was spotted incredibly early within the Saints Academy, and he was regularly playing for the U-18s at the age of fifteen before becoming the youngest Saints player to play in the PL at the agre of seventeen under Nigel Adkins. Man United bought him because of his potential not as the finished article. I think that the delays to his progress were more down to the fact that when he went to Man United, with all the expectations, at the age of just 18 and was then poorly managed by Mourinho.

He didn't want to be here ... move on -
Ollie Watkins went to Villa for about £30 million. Great first season for Villa.

100 premier league goals in 270 matches and 63 assists in a struggling side. He was the first midfielder to score 100 goals in the Premier League . Record at scoring penalties, 47 times from 48 attempts, and is considered one of the greatest ever from the 12-yard spot. That is the bare statistics, and ignores the pure quality and genius of many of the goals and play. Perhaps Grealish will reach the club career heights that Matt did, but at the moment he is not even close.
-
Possible, but his background was highly suspicious to the extent I believe, that the PL changed their rules after he took over to prevent someone of a similar ilk taking over a PL club again. That suggests she was more keen to divest her shares at a considerable profit than in the identity of the new owner.

I do feel aggrieved, however, at KL for saying that she needed to sell to someone who was going to take us to the next level.
-
I agree, I can only see us going for Armstrong as a replacement for Ings if we get an offer for him that we can't refuse. Other areas of the squad need addressing with more urgency.
-
That means he will be swapping them every game then 😜
-
Me also and for the same reason.
-
Personally, I would want out strongest team available against Brighton as we are more likely to get points in that game and because it is a more significant game in that we don't want to lose to them and let them close the gap. So, if anyone is being nursed back to fitness then I'd leave them out against Man City rather than the other way around, giving them a decent 7-day gap since their last match.
-
That's what we need to toughen them up 😅
-
Agreed. Caleb Watts looked very good also, bright, busy and tidy. Both looked as if they might be able to make that huge step up.

Magnificent team performance, with everyone playing their part and giving 100%. Great collective defence led from the front and always dangerous on the break. Diallo's best performance yet for Saints and demonstrated tonight why Ralf has claimed that he is the future of Saints. JWP and Ings pure inspiration for the world class goal. KWP was excellent against Mane. Ralf's pure, uncontrolled show of passion at the end was the icing on the cake. Happy New Year Saints ... you have lit up a gloomy day.

That’s the spirit
