  1. Incredible coup for the Saints transfer committee

    David Brooks

I would be delighted with this signing. He was in brilliant form before the diagnosis (he was actually at the Euros with Wales) and at the time was on the radar of several top teams. He now needs gametime which he can't get at Bournemouth. In Bournemouths recent 5-0 FA Cup thrashing of Swansea he created the first two goals and scored the third. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68091050 Great signing for us and him. I really think this could be the difference between the playoffs and automatic promotion.
  3. I totally agree about Benson, something fishy there
  4. Perfect summary for me. Particularly re Benson
  5. I would prefer a Leicester win
  6. Charles is a decent signing already, in my book. He has 24 appearances for Saints this year, hardly the "bit player" you make him out to be. The modern game isn't just about the starting eleven, it's about the whole match day team which he is firmly a part of.
  7. I'm surprised by the comments about Charles. I think we are very lucky to have Charles in the squad and think that his performances, maturity and versatility have been outstanding for a 20 year old. Flynn Downes himself has labelled the performances of teammate Shea Charles "a joke" and added: "I wish I was as good as him when I was 20."
  8. Brilliant move for me. About time something was done to give us a proper home end again. I'm sure it has cost us points in the past.
  9. I think I would prefer Brooks myself. He has more proven experience under his belt. I have witnessed how devastating a cancer diagnosis can be (my wife, father and mother) and I think that a drop down to the Championship where he will have more time on the ball is exactly what he needs also. This is a loan transfer that could benefit player and both clubs. Having had cancer he will also want to stay close to his medical support centre.
  10. Certainly better in the air
  11. So much for the theory that our possession will tire Huddersfield out
  12. Edozie has been far more effective than Sulemana
  13. Sulemana comes across as selfish and immature
  14. Definitely a huff
  15. What was Sulemana trying to do?
  16. Bazunu should be claiming that
  17. Matt was tragically overlooked for England in my opinion. It was once said that if he had elected to play for France they would have built a team around him.
  18. 😂 Yes, his goal scoring exploits are remarkable and he seems to score at every level. Hatrick for England at any level is something really special.
  19. Great response chaps, celebrate a Southampton home grown lad scoring a hattrick or be cynical . Class.
  20. Yes, very good work Trousers. I thought that there might be other threads somewhere but not having the will to page through a forum, just thought that a hattrick for England deserved highlighting.
  21. Surely his goal scoring achievements, even at the tender age of 18 mean that he deserves his own thread. https://www.englandfootball.com/articles/2023/Nov/21/england-mens-u19-mexico-match-report-20232111 A hatrick for England U19s today just adding to his growing reputation. The chaotic mess that is Reading FC at the moment is arguably not the best place for him to be developing his potential. Looking forward to him scoring goals in a Saints first team shirt, which seems to be his inevitable destiny, hopefully sooner rather than later.
  22. Cracking win grommitt from the Saints today apart from KWPs brain fart in the 2nd half and the 10 minutes of the Benny Hill Show that followed when we could have conceded another. I thought Downes was superb in midfield today and KWP (brain fart aside) was different gravy to everyone else on the pitch. Taylor Harwood Bellis has Future Saints Captain written all over him and even Bree looked very assured at left back. Funniest moment of the day was the Northam End booing Bazunu for not going up for the corner at the end. It just remains for me to thank Birmingham for kindly appointing a moron as their new manager.
  23. It's the not creating any chances when we have so much possession that drives me nuts. Martin seems happy that endless possession means that we are controlling the game but if matters nowt if you are not creating chances. That's three games in a row where we go 1-0 up and then sit back and concede. Two late goals have saved us from 2 points out of 9.
