  1. Agreed ... I'd been thinking this too. As you say very raw but different to our other options. Should also help the press with that pace and, potentially, a good option to leave up top on his own when we're 'backs to the wall'. Young lad at Brom, Leko, looks similar.
  2. Why ... what did I do?
  3. Maybe Januzaj as a more realistic makeweight?
  4. This!
  5. I've always liked him and think he'd be a good fit for us football wise ... but I can't see us getting Song as it just wouldn't fit with our recent (young, hungry with a lot to prove) transfer policy. He's a couple of years older than Morgan already so unlikely to appreciate in value too much (unless we get a real bargain and he has a stormer) and on too big a wage for us (I assume). However, that said, he's younger than Pelle was when we brought him in - and a similar price if press figures are anywhere near accurate - and it could be argued that he's in a similar position to Bertrand at Chelsea so what the hell do I know!
  6. Mepput!!
  7. Sorry mate, don't get you. Please elaborate on how you think these events are connected ...
  8. The problem with this set up is that the girls in the County development squad have to attend trials to be chosen. Nobody is out and about actively watching games and looking for talent to develop. My understanding is (happy to be corrected if I'm wrong here) is that the girls in the County squad are not allowed to play for other teams and play relatively few games when compared to the Saints girls who play week in week out. And yes there are a number of girls and ladies clubs in Southampton but only one that are allowed to wear the Saints strip and badge and have won honours in the name of Southampton FC in the past ... Why on earth would you choose any of the others?
  9. My daughter plays for Saints U13. Her team were so successful last year that they are playing up a year in the U14s league this season. Their first season with off-side rule (and sorry to **** on your obvious joke opportunity Turkish but yes they do all understand it ) and bigger pitches and goals against teams who have already had a whole season to get used to the changes. They are currently top of the league again. Our U12s are just as good and are also playing up a year and sit top in their league too. Both teams have won national competitions and my daughter has scored the winning goal in a cup final wearing the Saints badge - one of my proudest moments as a parent. They'll be going to an international competition in Holland in the Spring and it will be interesting to see how well they do against girls from other nations. Despite all this, I understand why many posters on this thread (not the kn0b who suggested they play in bikinis - paedo alert?) have no time for the woman's game. It is second rate when compared to boys of the same age and I'm happy to admit that my enjoyment is that of a proud parent rather than a football fan. I won't be signing the petition because I don't think it's the right way to approach the club but I do feel the club should embrace the ladies game alongside it's other numerous community projects - I think many posters on here would be surprised by how popular girls football is becoming. Letting the girls take advantage of the academy facilities and expertise occasionally would surely cost the club very little? Anyhow, my daughter's U13 team will be playing Portsmouth FC U14s (who do have the backing of their so-called parent club) in the Hampshire FA Cup Final in a couple of weeks time - at AFC Totton I think. Should they attend the game, I defy Turkish or any of the doubters not to let out a cheer when the girls score against the skates!!!
  10. Could be taller ...
  11. This!
  12. Done ... Really had to think quite hard about a few of the questions so took me a lot longer than 5 mins mentioned!
  13. Can't see it myself ... Isn't he supposed to be a bit of a kn0b off the field?

    Hesketh

    He runs like Lallana
  15. Southampton Saints Girls & Ladies FC ... My daughter plays for them. They wear the Saints strip including the club badge as they were previously linked to the Club but were set adrift back in the days when we were struggling financially.
  16. Good point and I hope you're right mate as they really don't look to have too much going forward that should worry us. *Note to MLG* ... See, that's how you do it!
  17. Thanks for your help MLG ... No need to worry then, we're bound to beat them again (just like we did Liverpool away eh) In true MLG fashion, in your haste to roll out a statistic to prove a point you've completely missed mine. Please read my post again, slowly if necessary, and hopefully you will notice this time that I wasn't talking about the Newcastle game last season or any specific team or game for that matter. I was simply suggesting that it will be interesting to see how Koeman reacts to (any) team that 'parks the bus' and whether he can make sound tactical changes when needed. Despite enjoying the way we played under Poch when his system worked (generally against the teams that wanted to give us a game) I was often frustrated (in a grown up way not in Alpine fashion) when we struggled to break a team down as Poch didn't favour trying something different. HTH.
  18. Finding it really difficult to call this one. Kingsbridge might be right, I've got a feeling Newcastle (as with most lower/mid-table teams) will 'park the bus' and be happy to go home with a point. IMO we often struggled to break these teams down at home last season and weren't clinical enough in taking the chances we did create against them. Also, to a degree, such tactics will negate Mane's added pace (I think he might be used as an impact sub for this one) so it will be interesting to see how Koeman handles this situation and what he learned from the dire West Brom game. I was never confident that Poch really knew what to do in these games last year, preferring to trust his system to eventually come good rather than changing things up when most of us in the stands thought he should. I guess to be fair, his options from the bench were limited and this couldn't have helped but even if this weren't the case I'm sure we would only have seen a change of personnel rather than tactics. Personally, I'd be made up if Koeman is brave enough to have a real go at home this time around ... even if it means dropping the odd point whilst trying to gain two.
  19. Not bad for MLG I suppose ... but don't insult Basil Brush mate, he's not even in the same ball park
  20. Not yet ... Probably won't until next week once I'm back on school run duty! Black again?
  21. Nice looking motor though ... Although I thought it a bit odd that he'd have a 4-door?
  22. Kelvin lives near me and has a black Bentley (Continental?) and I've seen Jack Cork in the car park of our local Tesco Express in a white Maserati Ghibli ... Mrs H spotted him first and asked how a young lad could afford such a nice car!
  23. But what if the club feel Targett is capable of doing a Luke Shaw? Perhaps then a good quality loan for a year whilst he is eased into the team is a good idea? If Targett delivers then all well and good and we've saved c.£10m (and have another £30m asset on our hands), if he doesn't but Bertrand does well then we can decide whether we try to buy him in the summer if the deal is right. If neither deliver then we spend our money in Jan instead. I'd be happy with this approach if this were the thinking in this scenario ... Unlike some, I don't see the need to spend for the sake of it and I don't want to see a 'homegrown' that has been earmarked to make the step-up have limited chances because we brought someone else in on a perm for a big fee so feel the need to play them. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing another up-and-coming homegrown playing for us (for a season at least!) supporting/supported by a young english international.

    Osvaldo

I've heard similar. Poch definitely wasn't the driving force ... Nic wanted his annual marquee signing for the fans/his ego leaving Poch quite annoyed at how much we'd spent on him.
  25. Top work mate
