  1. Chuck in Blockbuster too....they'll be next.
  2. Completely agree....it has never been about the land / ground being a footballing asset. Chinny couldn't care less whether it's football or not, it's whatever makes him the most amount of money.
  3. That's not the end of it, not by a long way (only my opinion mind). It's never as cut and dried as that it football. NA clearly knows GH and there is no way we'd have pursued this far if there wasn't any encouragement to do so (i.e. if the player wasn't interested in a move). Lennon has clearly been either a) trying to push the price up by making it public, or b) concerned that the board will accept a bid, so is trying to pressurise them in pub lic to keep him / cover his own arse at the same time. I think trousers post above is close to the money
  4. The ground is the only item of value in my view. The players on big contracts are worth nothing - any transfer fee will be gobbled up by paying up big contracts. Alternatively the new club will take on the wages, but won't be willing to pay a fee. It's a lose lose from Pompey's perspective. Even with the £1m that Ipswich offered, Pearce has only just signed, and hasn't asked for a transfer, so his contract would need paying up. Probably the same for Ward. That's the real reason the deal was turned down as it would probably actually cost Pompey to sell them. So, we're back to brinkmanship. It all seems horribly like 2010, and I can see early Feb being met with a request to sell / loan players outside of the window (if they can raise any capital by doing that - see above). As Chinny holds a charge over CSI, presumably he lands any cash from player sales. Chinny will be more than happy to sit on the ground. £17m is too much for the club, as 'good will' only goes so far, especially with a high possibility of a points deduction - there simply won't be any buyers at that price. The best result for Pompey may not be the best result for Chinny, so Chinny holds the cards here, as he'll be looking for the best result for him. If the club goes bust, he still holds the land - value probably £10m (SMS site was £5m 12 years ago). If there's no football club, the council would be hard pushed to deny planning permission for a supermarket or houses. Any buyer would therefore need £10m cash for Chinny (he may accept less if it gets shot of the club), £10.8m for CSI (or points deduction), £5m for AG, £1.5m per month for wages plus any shortfall in the CVA. Either way, even if Chinny takes £1 and AG takes £1, the cost will still be £10.8m (or points deduction) and the same again in wages until the summer. Chinny will know how many offers he had for the club at £17m last time. One. How many does he now expect? I think this could come to a head very, very quickly. The next 10 days are critical, and then they're fresh out of cash, and options.
  5. That's good. He's got £14m allocated to pay of Chinny in full, and proof of over £20m in funds (let's assume that's £20m then). Does he realise that he needs: - £10.8m to pay off CSI, or suffer a 10 point deduction (gaining an unfair advantage)? - £5m debt to the child maimer - £1.5 - £2m a month on the player salaries (he seems to have grasped that 8 players are on £1.1m a month...does he realise he can't just sack them?) - a CVA that needs to be serviced (which probably won't be covered by whatever's left of the parachute payments) - no training facility - no real income until the summer (ST money will have long gone) - a fallen down ground Wonder if he'll still be interested when he realises that?
  6. The trouble is, Pompey is CSI. There's nothing else. Also, the Pompey Trust need to realise that if the FL block all the chancers, loan sharks and criminals, there will be nobody to buy the club. Boom. Toast.
  7. Thought the pitch was pretty poor TBH - maybe something to do with the frost, but it looked bobbly
  8. Correct, and he did come steaming through forearm first. Still, I'm sure it will give the Clown something to ***** about afterwards...
  9. Yes, it should be so simple really. Surely, surely you're not suggesting anything to the contrary?
  10. Is this still the Gary Hooper thread?
  11. He didn't say anything about bigoted comments though. As has been pointed out, the flute playing picture of Gazza would be considered bigoted by Catholics. Whether you care about it or not, or think it's 'iconic', it would offend a lot of Catholics.
  12. Nowhere near the PL in terms of quality. SPL football is rubbish now. MON was thee in a bit of a golden era, but things have changed. Look at the starting team and where some of them have come from. Samaras was surplus to requirements at Citeh when they were very ordinary. He's several years older now. A big signing for them was Commons.I'm not dissing him, but he'd be nowhere near a PL team IMO. I don't think they're helped by Lennon either though. I'm stunned Jos didn't get a look in there. He's easily good enough for them, but Lennon hasn't got a clue.
  13. Club legend for this alone.
  14. Do we have to wear a kit with half the shirts missing the sponsors name too?
  15. Haven't you got 3 kids now (congrats by the way)?! Expensive stuff!!
  16. Cost of the building materials has increased dramatically in 11 years. That won't have helped. The land was probably a lot more expensive too. However, padded seats all adds to the cost. I was disappointed by it. Style over substance. Football grounds are defined by their 'kops' behind the goals. They've missed the point completely by having such tiny stands at each End. Even if they increase the capacity there will be no more depth to the stands behind the goals. Also, it needs to be steeper. I thought The Madjeski was a much better ground.
  17. Yep, all of this. First half BHA didn't know when to follow our players and when to stay. DC did a great job of coming short and both full backs pushed up to create the width. Sending off was the key.
  18. And you previous 'Happy Clappers' quote on the other thread was what exactly?
  19. I'll go with everything that you've written, bar I thought Lambert's was a red card. Yes, he was rugby tackled, but he certainly looked to have slapped the bloke in the face. You just can't raise your hands. Blagged parking at the ground, just rocked on up and were waved through by everyone even though we had no pass. Best bit of the day (unfortunately)
  20. So basically you just made that all up.
  21. Ah, right....another one of those 'I'm the expert because I wasn't there and didn't see it' comments. FFS, you really are a tool.
  22. It wasn't a poor performance. 11 v 11 we played them off the park. Lallana seems to have scored a goal, not given. Harding was taken out by the fullback - no booking. The central midfielder for them kicked Hammond(I think) up in the air wildly from behind - no booking. Harding wins ball cleanly - booking. Crowd reaction and pressure on weak officials means we have to sub him. Rickie clearly gets pushed when going up for a free header in front of goal at the start of the second half - no penalty, and he definitely bottled that decision. The only thing I think he got right, unfortunately, was Rickie's red card, and that changed the game.
  23. It's because we as fans are a reflection of society. You get idiots in society, and idiots in our fan base who post on internet forums. I sometimes wonder if some people have forgotten what we've achieved in the last 15 months, and the drivel that we were watching the last time we were in the Championship. Some fans on here sound like spoiled children. We were far superior to Brighton today 11 v 11. Individual errors are costing us at the moment. THere's not much Adkins can do during a game if Rickie loses his head or Kelvin spills a shot.
  24. Agreed. We were miles better than them in the first half, played some good football, created chances, appear to have scored a goal. Unfortunately Rickie was stupid and Kelvin spilled the ball. Individual errors are letting us down at the moment. However, these things happen in a long season. I'm more disappointed that Rickie let himself down today by reacting to the last in a line of niggly, horrible fouls by a niggly, horrible team. 11 v 11 and they were no match for us. Special mention for the officials. They were sh it. Quite how D'Urso missed the push on Rickie at the start of the second half in the area is, frankly beyond me. The linesman in front of the the main stand was a joke all afternoon. He had no bottle and gave everything to BHA. The crowd, and weak officials meant we had to sub Harding.
  25. I thought we were going to be category 1 though
