This. There are a couple of idiots that sit behind me, and I swear they blamed Fox for Cork being substituted. Frankly I'm embarrassed for them as they blame him for everything. He's not good enough, but I'm not sure what people are hoping to achieve by getting on his back all the time. It's hardly helping him or the team.

I didn't say every time it was because he was exposed. I said that I don't think he's PL class and he has issues positionally. All I'm looking for is a bit more of a balanced view from the people sitting behind me - unfortunately some people just want / need a scape goat. Clyne may have been covering for Fox (that's what team mates do), but that doesn't exempt him from his share of the blame for not doing what he should have done.

Jos laid into Clyne for the goal. Clyne didn't argue, he knew he should have taken a yellow for the team. Fox's quick thinking and superb ball to Lambert directly led to the 2nd goal. He was also. Left exposed on more than one occasion with him v two players. Yes he's not the best positionally, and I don't think he's PL class, but that's why he's back up to Shaw. We're not currently a big enough club to have two top drawer players in each position.

Can you all come and speak to the couple behind me please. During yesterday's game it became apparent that Fox would appear to be to blame for global warming and all African famines, amongst other things. I recognise Fox has positional issues and isn't the best defender, but when he pings a peach of a cross field ball to Lambert and you hear 'Lambert made that a good ball' you sort of despair a bit. No mention of the quick thinking and quality ball for the first goal. They were having a go at him for pushing up the park...'what's he doing up there?'....erm, carrying out his managers instructions, compressing the play? Then again, it took 30 seconds for them to start their moaning yesterday, and I'm certain they will have found something to moan about all the way home last night. It was the same with Guly. He also has his obvious faults, but again when he was subbed in a game earlier this season having put in a good overall performance, despite them salvaging him for 70 minutes, he got a standing ovation. Same with last night when Fox goes off. You'd wonder if the penny would drop that maybe most other people are seeing different things. It's just so painful week in week out. I suppose they're the definition of a 'customer' and not a 'supporter'. If Fox had banged in a 40 yarder into the top corner last night it would have been the keepers fault, or he'd have miss hit it.

I thought he was very weak today. I'm not sure what he was doing for the goal, or whether he'd have saved it anyway, but it was poor judgement. There were several other very iffy moments. I don't think Boruc's the answer either. I think taking Kelvin out of the spotlight, letting him go back and work on his game, would put him in pole position for me now. He was in the NPC Championship team of the year last season for a reason. I can't believe he's just lost that over the summer.

Davis, tbf, had United, City and Arsenal in those games.

Agreed re the first 2...thought the last was outside the area though. Either way, he's made a rod for his own back. Refs watch games, notice things, and talk amongst themselves. Suarez doesn't get blatant penalties unless the ref is absolutely convinced...they'll always have it in the back of their mind that they may have been conned. It's up to AL to shed that image.

It depends on the player though. Man U may send out a load of youngsters on loan because they think they may not make the first team. They may well keep players who they are confident will make it in their system for longer, and then send them out on loan - it's probably the case that players break through at Man U when they're a little older. As for Dickson, who knows the real reason. He has the option to lower his wage demands / demands for a pay off (if that's the case) in order to play football. I'm not having a go at him, but it's likely that there is an option if he wants to play.

It's not that simple though. Would you rather our youngsters were being coached 'the Southampton way' by our PL coaches, or sent out on loan to somewhere to play hoof ball? Arsenal are very picky who they send out on loan, and apparently refused to loan Walcott after they bought him because they believed it was more important that he was properly coached rather than got lower league experience.
