yeah, this is true. His dog had died as well, losing to Forest was the final straw but like you say, they did not take the resignation. He was a lovely, genuine guy. I tried to get an interview for the fanzine with him, back before phones, twitter etc. so I must have sent in a letter. Don't think I had a phone at home and put my works number on it. A few days later the receptionist calls over, '.... I have a Chris Nicholl on the phone for you'. He didn't want to do the interview but we had a chat. How many PL managers would do that these days? I think I regret the Nicholl fanzine front cover more than the Branfoot one. That 89 season, just wow, should have finished third if we'd beaten the north London clubs right at the end. Watching Burnley over the weekend, well, that's us basically. And that's what is going to happen if or when we go up. Just wondering what the point is? People who say they love the EPL (as a Saints fan) are basically there to watch the big clubs, aren't they? There is going to be nothing enjoyable about going up and thinking this kind of football is going to have any effect. I like Martin and if he's happy to stay for the next few years in the EFL, and gives us some entertaining football i.e. Swansea first half, some bat shot crazy football like the Huddersfield game and okay, we'll have some shit, like Saturday, well, all in all, I'd take that.

To be honest, there wasn't much to sing about last night. We were shit, then we were losing and then we lost. Like the team, I couldn't really be arsed to put in the full effort, it's not obligatory. Unlike a couple of my mates on here commenting, I am not really that bothered about what songs we sing, most of them are shit but I think you could say that about most teams' fans. There seems to be this idea that we are so different from everyone else, but we ain't. Our support and other team's support is a reflection of society in general, some decent folk and plenty of knobheads. As for the songs, yeah too much mention of the lot down the road, can agree with that, should be just Fathers gun really, that's the only decent song about them. Football in a library is dull but pretty inoffensive. As is ....'s a shithole.. Does it really matter? Or is there some judging panel for each team's fans? I'm not sure any BC fans went away last night thinking Saints fans were wankers because they sang 'Football in a Library'. Am I the only ones that knows that these songs are not to be taken literally? That said, some new innovations would not go amiss but people just resort to type, so through past experience of some good new and old songs, they don't take off. Like most things in life these days, it's the easiest route route every time for most.

Things is, it’s not only on here is it. Every fan base and forum across the country is full of “fickle as fuck” football fans and we are no different. They’re also full of fans, like you and Bad Wolf that seem to be either oblivious to this or just want the opportunity o knock your own fans, for whatever reason there is. Baz could have done better for the first one, in my opinion, sorry if that upsets you and clearly makes me the biggest fuck going, but he could have got to that. Not that I would say it was a fuck up like Watford, just he could have done better.
