How good do i want him to be? As good as Matty was, but it wont happen, though three or four years ago, thought it might. Yeah, City and Arsenal are really worried about players signing contracts etc, get real, if they want a player then they will get him, and dont kid yourself that AL wouldn't have swapped places with AOC given half the chance. Or do you think that he is going to be another Le Tiss/Steve Bull?

Is It The Southampton Way or the highway For Nigel Adkins?
Noodles34 replied to BILLY's topic in The Saints
thats a good and considered post. But i think Cortese wants to do it the Barca way, thats why we are buying the better and younger Champoinship players rather than the likes of Ukubu etc. and thank f uck for that. He is obsessed with doing it the Southampton Way and so wont be buying multi million pound players, just like Barca dont (much). Whether it will happen and whether NA will be around long is a completely different subject, though clearly, chopping and changing managers doesnt work, unless you spend mega money ala Chelsea and City -
Does anyone know if, as season ticket holder, you get first dabs on the remaining tickets for PL games, before they go to members (do we still have members?) etc. Used to be that way back in the old PL days, ridiculous really as if you have a ST then you have a ticket, why do you need another? However, i need another for the UTD game!! Also, when are the Arsenal away tix on sale?

He is certainly not going backwards, but is he going forwards? I havent seen AL this pre-season, but i have said for the last couple of years, that three or four years ago; did we not expect AL to be a better player now? Thats not to say that he is not a good player, there is absolutely no doubt about that. But honestly, with the promise shown as a youngster, I thought he would be a better goalscorer that what he has achieved now (though being stuck wide probably hasnt helped). The one thing that can verify my point is; How many big PL clubs have come in for him? None, I think Fulham and Wolves or West Brom were vaguely interested, says a lot I think.

the way it started it didnt sound like the last day, they mentioned Shearer scoring for Blackburn and them being top or thereabouts. And dont you think that when they were filming they used live radio? -

yeah, thats eactly what we are looking for Martin,. cheers (see you next week in The Alfred) -
my basis on the bet is: he was the top scorer for the last 3 years - there is absolutely no doubt that the guy knows where the goal is. last season we saw a big change in SRL, to me he was almost playing a Rooney role, dropping deep and running channels, it improved his game without losing any goals etc. There were a number of games whereby imho he was MOM, not because of his goals, but all round play, vision and passing. This will be crucial in the PL. I haven't seen him pre-season, if he has gone back to being overweight and slow ala 2 seasons agos post AP, then we might have a problem. And it could be a big problem, because I cannot see Sharp being a bit hit in the PL. Too small and not strong enough, he's got no chance, 5 or 6 goals maybe, and who knows what Jay Rod will be like. Lastly, it wont take much tofinish in the top four, Clint Dempsey was forth with 17, Holt was 8th with 15. Is SRL better than Holt? If you think he is, then it clearly makes this bet (based on historical facts) good value and as worthwhile a gamble as a gamble can be.
-
just had a fiver each way with Ladbrokes.com on PL Top Scorer I think this excellent value, basically 20/1 to finish in the top 4. I guess if we have a good season it will be down to his goals, worthwhile bet in my opinion (each way)

I was watching Mission Impossible last night, and during a scene set in a hotel in Liverpool Street, London, Tom Cruise is doing something and the radio is on, and it is about The Premier League, and we are mentioned, unfortunately the order of words are broken up, but it is West Ham, relegation Southampton. The film was released in 1996, probably filmed a 95, I can't remember year by year, but was that a 'Great Escape' season? Winning against Everton on the last day, or was it the Wimbledon year? I was thinking back to other mentions of us or players on non related tv, my other example is once on Eastenders, Nigel was talking to Ian Beale and they were talking about some five a side team they were doing, and Nigels says of one player, "He's hardly Matt Le Tissier is he?"

Its lucky that Banger has the profile to have a chance of raising the money, which I cant blame home for. However, you only have to 'Google' "celebral palsy appeals" and find a multitude of good causes, unfortunately for them however, they dont have a 'local hero' to front their appeals. Its all very well donating because it's Nicky Banger, but would you if it wasn't? How about this one? http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/9481540.Rose_Road___s_sparkling_60th/ I'm bunging in £50 next week, because its a good cause, because their kids dont have ex-footballer dads and because I cant write this without backing it up.

All Saints fans should protest about this disgusting slur
Noodles34 replied to patred44's topic in The Saints
As for the racist debate. Quite clearly hitler and the nazi party were racist. So it is obvious that if you accuse someone of being part of that, by definition, you are also saying that they are racist. I don't think the offending post is racist, however they are accusing the family of the crime it seems. That's my take on it anyway, no doubt someone will disagree! -

Maybe we should retaliate with a fatwas on Fred Dinage? -
Groupon offer for Romsey at the moment, something like 24 for two and 40 for four, decent course i am told, not easy http://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/southampton/Romsey-Golf-Club/8084571?nlp=&CID=UK_CRM_1_0_0_199&a=65 You have Overton there, thats supposed to be alright.

personally, my all time fave is probably still Halloween, a bit Teeny Bop America, but it really epitomised the era.
-
definately. also Audition, not really a horror but scary as **** and Old Boy (Korean), with one of the best twists ever in the history of film making.

would imagine the track runs onto the docks? Surely there must be a case for a line to there as well?
-
thats all very well, but you summed it up when you said 'he had been given a five year contract'. Who gave him it? Rupes I suppose? Or Wilde? Whoever it was gave him a right to earn wages for 5 years. I would not imagine he was on the kind of money that Ben Haim is on, so he was hardly bankrupting us, even in the days of admin. Unless it's a fact (something thats hard to find on here) that he was asked to move on during admin, then I think he gets a poor rap, considering he has never had a chance to prove himself. Personally cant really see the diffrence between him and Bart keeping his bum warm for 5 years, yet he doesnt get the flak.

seriously, isnt about time he spoke English by now? I mean the whole world speaks it FFS
-
yeah, and I questioned the fact that he was testing them out, it was that idiot from the Alps that suggested that. Why would he test your own staff withhimself anyway? Like they are going to **** up their service when he is ordering!

you are a knob arent you. i post a reasonable reply, and you come back with this, and then call me names. what a nonce you are.

seriously failing to see your point?
