Aim for 7-0, and even if we fall short hopefully we can get 4 or 5. Same against Leeds, and job done hopefully.
-
Are we allowed to withdraw from the playoffs? Don't really want to win, i dont think the fans are ready for another miserable season in the VAR league.
-
This has all the hallmarks of a saints win second half, which would be disastrous, we can't afford to meet Leicester at Wembley. Hopefully they will stick to the plan and ensure we continue to avoid crossing the ball or making any forward runs. Keep it up lads x

Clear offside, it was a kind angle on the camera and still looked off, probably a good half yard once you correct for that. Fortunately, we are better losing today, leicester would be a horrible playoff game and we've got much a better chance against Leeds or Ipswich.

Surprised prem players aren't wearing green boots, it would give them an extra pixel or two for these kinds of decisions.

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
pingpong replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
No, I'm just looking for the data that the vast majority of terrorist attacks in the last, say 20 years, are by islamists. We are working from the premise that we were told not to make assumptions but that in the vast majority of cases we would have been right to point at Muslims. I'm struggling to find it, I just keep running into usa data which is showing religion as secondary to right wing ideologies. -
Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES

Do you have any data to back up "vast majority"? Just looking at some US data, and the majority of their attacks have been from right wing extremists for every single year for the last 20 years. I would be interested to see that data if you have any. -
Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
pingpong replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Have to question (again) why when this stuff happens, some people seem so keen to use it for their personal agendas, there's something quite grotesque about the keenness to attribute this to eg Islam in this case. But I guess it does also expose the people who do have discriminatory agendas. i just wish it made them reflect on themselves and why they wanted to get to that particular conclusion so quickly, but I suspect that won't happen, and they will be right one time and it will confirm every bias they have. -
We play 3 times before Ipswich's next game. Win a couple of them and we will be in striking distance...
-
Another way to look at it, if we assume everyone's form stays the same as it is now, and each team gets the same points for its next x games as it did for the previous x games you get: Leicester 95pts Ipswich 95pts Leeds 92pts Saints 89pts. Our only chance will be with extra wins for us and extra defeats for the others. The above doesn't account for the fact we play each other. It is unlikely, but if we win both of the 6pt games against Leeds and Leicester it could narrow the gap, those are our chances to overcome the form and change the outcome.

And here is what the report actually says: "(iv) The Working Group acknowledge there are potential risks for employers, service delivery and workers. **However, the Working Group express their confidence those risks can be managed and mitigated, if a 4-Day Week is properly planned for, and if it is designed and implemented in full consultation with workers and their trade union representatives.** (v) The Working Group considers the risks to manage and mitigate include: >Equality risks: The risk of widening existing inequalities between groups of workers i.e. office workers versus those on the frontline, particularly in 24/7 operations. Given the different gender, race and other characteristics of different workforces in the public sector, there is potential for negative and differential impacts on particular protected characteristics. In some circumstances, worker entitlements to welfare benefits may also be put at risk." So this is just some shitty paper headline. Probably mail or telegraph.

He's shown sparks of talent, but today's effort makes me wonder if he is playing to rule, or is effectively playing on protest. Unless he is ill? He was seriously outpaced by players who had already been running for over an hour.
-
Well, considering how the Ipswich commentators word was gospel on here when they said we don't know who we are playing each week, you'll be pleased to hear that the Blackburn commentators said that it was Blackburns best performance of the season.
-
Because we're dead certs for the playoffs though. In 8 games time, we'll have 3 games left and absolutely everything to play for.
-
Of course not. We have a tactical analysis department and full time positions dedicated to opponent analysis.

Don't think jk rowling has done her cause any favours, nothing she said is even close to breaching the new law. If she really wanted to make the point she needs to actually threaten someone because of their gender identity, not just point it out. So all this will do is give snp a chance to show the law is proportionate. Think this will just go quiet until the telegraph or times do an foi in a few months time and manufacture some shocking headline about the 0.001٪ budget that gets 'wasted on wokery'.

It's been true in the past, although not the easiest thing to get data on. https://www.fourfourtwo.com/gallery/which-premier-league-clubs-perform-best-after-international-break

I was looking at an older year, but the trend is the same. I know why the confusion, because of how they have worded it, but if you look at the maths, it is not "of which". The data is showing that 53% of white applicants get an offer, compared to only 35% of black applicants.
-
I am making assumptions, i did try to allude to that. It will be based on whatever data they have. If it isn't, then they would be open to claims of discrimination. Very unlikely, given that they cost money and most universities wouldn't part with money for something like this without justifying the cost. I can speak in general though, as someone who worked in the sector in the past, virtually every instance of recruitment or admissions of any kind show significant differences in your chances of being accepted dependent on your ethnicity, and always favouring white applicants. Leeds for example, around 70% of white applicants receive an offer, compared to 50% of black applicants. (Undergrad admissions) Those gaps depend on a bunch of things, but even when you take into account grades, courses and degree subject choices, there is still a persistent gap of more than 10 ppts. Coming out the other side, if you look at employment rates of black graduates, they are lower than any other ethnicity, and haven't changed for the last 10 years. same with staff, the data is static for the last decade, and waiting for the self correction doesn't seem to be working...

Almost certainly not. This is an example of positive action and I've yet to see a case that wasn't evidence based, although im sure there will be exceptions, but given it costs them money, not likely. Basically these schemes are completely legal (and not racist), as covered by the equality act, see below. Basically, they will have identified a disproportionate disadvantage for black applicants, and are using bursaries to try and address it. It is there because currently, white students are at an advantage when applying for those courses. I'd be surprised if there was any other reason, eg black people trying to dominate creative writing courses etc. although I suppose it is possible. Most universities publish their race action plans etc you could probably dig and find their evidence. "action that may involve treating one group more favourably where this is a proportionate way to help members of that group overcome a disadvantage or participate more fully, or in order to meet needs they have that are different from the population as a whole”.

Is it not referring to hate speech though, not offensive speech? Being offended by someone in tahiti would be unaffected, it's not a hate crime. They've even stated you can continue to be transphobic and you will not be charged, it's aimed at actual hate speech and incitement/harassment? And hasnt england already had similar for 20 odd years?
-
To be fair, if it was hidden, you wouldn't see it in the data. In fact, if it is hidden, then that chart is exactly what you'd expect to see, adding credence to the fact that data is being hidden.

He was a shining light in a time we were complete shit. He wouldn't have made it into any of our better sides, eg in the channon keegan eras, and don't think he'd have made it into the team ahead of sadio mane for example. But he did stay. We've had many better players who didn't stay, eg vvd, mane, shearer etc. And off the pitch, I'm not too worried about his opinions, as he has no influence anymore, he's shouting into a void. If he'd have said the same things as a player, I'd care a lot more, because people looked up to him back then. I don't think many do these days, and any positives he had to offer are in the distant past now. Which is a shame.
