This was the best I could find when I looked a while back

Thanks for reminding me, I need to get some ear plugs and vuvuzela sized corks

True, but then as a new seller isn't that even more reason to ensure you get it right. If you have just opened an account and are bidding on your first ever item, you make sure you pay quick, etc so you do build up your feedback, start with some little items and build up. Appreciate like you say people could be on holiday, there could be any number of reasons, but I dunno now weather to just strike him off and do a second chance to the next best bidder? Also this person could still leave me negative feedback I assume? Personally I wouldn't bid on anything unless I was able to complete the transaction in a reasonable amount of time, although I guess what is considered reasonable differs from person to person. I'm waiting for something I bought to arrive and I waited for just over a week before I chased the seller. Yet of the things I sold in the evening, I had one guy message me the next morning asking if I'd posted it yet, which I though was being a little impatient (not to mention that he had obviously missed my email telling him I'd be posting it at lunchtime). It just appears to me that from the amount of people that specifically state on there listings they will not deal with people with low or zero feedback, there must be a real widespread problem, which just makes me wonder if it's kids doing it to mess people about, etc.

I have discovered that if I stick my ipod on and listen to some dance music I can get into the work zone a bit easier, so the past couple of days were ok, still not great mind.

Just wondering why there seems to be so much hassel on ebay with people with no feedback bidding on things and then not paying? I often see in peoples listings that they ask people with feedback of less then 10 to contact them first before bidding. I've just sold some stuff last week, auctions all ran out Wednesday and everyone has paid up and been sent their stuff already with the exception of 1 buyer who surprise surprise has 0 feedback and I have heard nothing from him/her. Is it like a known thing, that people just set up accounts and bid on stuff with no intention of buying it just to mess people around?

That would be true, were it not for the ability to find gossip on saintsweb..... now who are we signing today?

I think it's wrong of you to say that clouds are pathetic, they are so fluffy, how can you not be distracted by them!

This was one of my suggestions when completing the BBC trust questionnaire giving my feedback. Now they have decided to keep it they may actually extend its coverage. I currently listen to it via Sky, but would be good to get it in the car as well.

Any of you ever have to work from home? When you first worked from home did you have any problems with getting work done? I thought working from home would be great and in some respects it is. BUT…. I am SO easily distracted that I’m not getting much done during the daytime. Oddly I find it easier to get on with work in the evening which is allowing me to stay on top of what I need to do, but it means I’m just spending the whole day ‘trying’ to work as well as my evenings actually doing the work. I’m hoping this is something I will settle into and get past, but I thought that a month or so ago! Here are some things that have distracted me today……….. Ebay and various other interweb sites including this one A lorry out the back of the house Cars pulling up out the front of the house Listening for the postman (I’m expecting a package) Dirty windows (now clean) Putting clothing in the washer Hanging washing out to dry Getting washing in from the rain The rain generally Clouds A bee Flys in my room (chasing flys with book) Picking a dead fly off of my floor A cat in the garden Making food Making cups of tea (x about 5) An aeroplane that was lounder than usual Cleaning the kitchen …………..I could go on, but you get the idea. What can I do to help myself be less distracted? Ta.

Nah wasn’t worried about losing the job, like you say they can’t don anything about photos from 15 years ago, but I was managing a group of youngsters who I was trying to mould into harder working young adults, rather than the group of workshy slackers than they were at that point. So just didn’t want them seeing pics of me off my tits, you kind of loose some respect in those situations, I had an image of a joyless manager to uphold.
-
I had an issue with facebook when I was managing a lot of people a couple of years back. I started getting friend request from staff and stupidly I accepted them all, but I then felt I had to be very careful about what I said on there. Had a massive panic one day when one of my friends discovered some old pictures she’d taken after a night out clubbing in my old ‘raving days’ and she stuck them on and tagged me. I looked absolutely fooked in them, eyes like saucers! I quickly untagged myself, but decided at that point that having work colleagues on friend lists wasn’t a good idea so I sent them all a message saying as much and culled them all.
-
I have just checked to see if you've culled me

This comment, for me, pretty much sums up several things that have happened recently. Ultimately not the end of the world, but just a bit of communication from the club would go a long way at the moment, especially when you consider the promises made when the club was taken over about how important the fans are and how important good communication is with us.

But doesn't your point actually back up what Dune is saying! Just as in the thread last week about incapacity benefit Dune wasn’t saying that everyone on it are slobs, he’s not saying here that all teachers and all public sector workers are taking an easy option, I think anyone with an ounce of common sense would know that if that were the case the systems would quickly grind to a halt! But you’ve just said it yourself, “the good workers are let down by dead wood”, that’s the problem, the system is too scared to get rid of them due to the long winded process of managing people out, combined with weak management not prepared to see it through. I used to be an operations manager (private sector) and I managed several teams of people and one of my targets when I was offered the job was to get the department back on track as it was a mess. For me that meant getting rid of some of these kind of people and it was hard going, very hard going. It meant documenting everything, having many meetings, setting performance improvement plans, being very careful that you said the right thing, did the right thing and followed the correct procedures to the letter. With all the individuals involved I’d have loved them to have proven me wrong and turned their performances around, but in each case my gut feeling was that it would only end with them leaving the company in one way or another and that’s what happened. But it was a long road involving, unions, threats of legal action, etc. Fortunately as I did everything by the book I managed to eventually get rid of all those people. I knew everything was done correctly, but I can see why people don’t want to go down that route. I had a lot of sleepless nights and even the company that employed me to sort out this area lost it’s nerve at one point and I was pretty much left to do it on my own with only the support of a couple of my team leaders, so getting rid of deadwood is extremely hard. As for Dunes comments, my sister works for the public sector and she hates her job. Every time I talk to her about it and I ask her why she doesn’t move on, she says that the benefits of the job are too good. To me that is a nonsense, as no benefits are worth it if you are ultimately unhappy in you job, but that is Dunes point isn’t it, she is happy to plod on because the benefits are good, even though I think she’s one of the good ones that toofarnorth refers too, she’s still happy to deal with the sh!t based on some of the job benefits. She’s managing some people and recently ‘inherited’ a new employee from a different area of the business. This guy is exactly the kind of person we’re talking about, he’s a mid 40’s black guy who is quite frankly useless. She doesn’t know how he’s managed to build up 20 odd years service, but he’s also heavily involved in the union as he’s a rep so she is stuck with him as she think if she makes any effort to manage him out he’ll play both the union card and the race card!

Lightweight Are you saying it’s a shame you haven’t seen more fights!!!! I jest Interesting glasto for me, overall a good one (this was my second) but if I go again I’d only do it as part of a group, as I went with one other person and was a bit gutted having to either do what they wanted or go off on my own. At least with a few people there’s the chance that others would be up for a bit more exploring. So didn’t really get to see a lot of the stuff that went on, we only really moved around the main areas. I’ve learnt that sun cream seems to have a bleaching effect on clothing which makes me wish I hadn’t worn my favourite t-shirt! I also learnt that I am turning into a grumpy old man. Sunday was arse for me as the guy I went with announced when we got there that he had to work on the Monday so had to leave Sunday night. As I was the driver this meant I couldn’t drink Sunday and that combined with the tired legs and general tiredness put me in a grumpy mood as whilst everyone else was loving their day, I wasn’t really getting into it so much! I saw; Friday Detroit Social Club (John Peel) – Good – didn’t really know much about them but I liked. De Staat (John Peel) – can’t really remember so only word I can use is unmemorable! The Stranglers (Other) – Never knew much of them (or so I thought) so was surprised I recognised several of their songs! The Courteeners (Other) – ok, didn’t blow me away Kele (John Peel) – I love Bloc Party and I loved this as well. For me, highlight of the day Vampire Weekend (Pyramid) – Caught the last half hour, was pretty busy, average in my opinion Delphic (West Dance) – A very close second for my highlight of the day. Sasha (Glade) – Same old same old for me. By this time I was ratted so just followed the dance Saturday Tinchy Stryder (Pyramid) – Not my cup of tea but was alright to listen too whilst eating a bacon sarni The Lightning seeds (Pyramid) – Good stuff, again not my cup of tea, but when in rome and all that! Was there after Tinchy so stuck around Imogen Heap (Other) – Thought I would hate her, but actually liked her as she was a bit mental (but in a nice way) Beach House (The Park) – Jesus Christ, I wonder how many of their fans cut themselves whilst listening to this music. Must be heavily influenced by radiohead Stornaway (The Park) – Easy listening, ok Biffy Clyro (The Park) – Amazing. Totally rocked. As SuperMikey said above, worst kept secret ever, but I got there very early and roughed it near the front with the kids for Biffy. Editors (Other) – Personally I like the Editors so enjoyed this. Some good tunes but they weren’t as good as last year in my opinion Muse (Pyramid) – Fantastic. Busiest crowd I experienced (whilst not being near the front). Been told before that Muse are good live and they didn’t disappoint. Although I am not a U2 fan, when they came back on stage with the Edge and played the U2 track the atmosphere was truly amazing. Sunday We are Scientists (Other) - Loved them, great set, crowd full of knobs where I was, however I may have been more tolerant to their youthfulness had I been drinking. Saying that, I’m unsure as to why anyone can’t understand why them arriving late and standing inches (and I mean literally 3 inches) in front of someone totally blocking their view (when there was actually plenty of space) would lead to anything other than a ‘polite’ word in their ear! Faithless (Pyramid) – Fantastic – Great atmosphere, was Maxi Jazz crying when he finished? Looked very emotional!

Cheers for that SuperMikey, if Biffy Clyro are there I will be most pleased Just packing my stuff now, feel a plum packing wellies but will leave them in the car just in case!!!! But looks like it'll be a sunny one this year! Staying at the folks in Somerset tonight to get there early tomorrow and avoid the queues!

Got an e.mail yesterday to say CD has been dispatched, album is due out Monday so I guess it depends on the postal service but should get it on the release date.
-
This is a good idea, a thread about summer transfers, rumours, etc, can this be made a sticky?........................................oh
-
Anyone pre-ordered albums before from Play.com? Do they arrive with you on the day they are released, or do they post them out on the release date, meaning you get them a day or so after? ta

This is the main problem. You don't want to go to the effort of selling them individually, but that's where you'd make the most money back. Companies like music magpie make their money off of peoples laziness (no offence meant to you!). They buy them dirt cheap, but making the experience as easy for the customer as they can (hell you don't even need to leave the house other than to post the cd's). It's like that 'we buy any car' company, yeah they will buy any car, but at a dirt cheap price. A couple years ago I tried a similar company (it may have even been them) with a car that I knew was worth approx £4500, they offered me £600 for it! If you really want to maximise your return, you'll have to put in a bit of effort and go down the ebay or Amazon route. Any other option (including independent record stores) will see you offered a token sum of money for your cd's.

I think those are pics of the 2011/12 season home kit, they must have leaked out! Note no sponsor again

Carling cup round 1 draw details - Bournemouth at home
Spudders replied to dellboypete's topic in The Saints
I reckon they will sell their share, easy. I know it's not a league game and had this draw been later in the season after we've already met each other I'd agree with you. However as this will be our first meaningful meeting I think this will draw a big crowd from both sets of supports. As someone who lives in Bournemouth now, I am looking forward to this already. Edit: Sorry I mis-read your post, I thought you were saying Bournemouth wouldn't sell their share. Agree that the game as a whole won't sell out.
