  1. You could say the same about anything fashionable or any car costing more than about £2,000.
  2. Thanks Whelk. I think you get it. I was pushed by my parents (rightfully so) to work hard and achieve as much as I could. I focused everything on business and now that I've reached a point of success I realise that I'm not as money motivated as I thought I was. I would agree - I've been consumerised (probably a newly invented word) and now need to find something more purposeful for my life. I was in the police for a year when I was young and enjoyed it but the money was **** so I left. Everyone I know says this was the best decision I ever made but actually now I wonder if it was. I think there's a lot to be said about having a career in something with such vast scope for progression.
  3. Thanks guys. I don't consider myself arrogant. I've had a lot of life experience, lived in different countries, worked with a wide range of different people and been through a lot of nice stuff as well as traumatising stuff. I've lost two siblings and beyond that my family has been through a lot. If you met me I don't think you'd consider me arrogant but think what you want when you've only read one post I've made on an internet forum - I make a real effort with everyone I meet and treat the people who work for me very well - it's just what goes on in my head leaves me in a very different place. I think my biggest concern is for mankind - I feel so shocked at how humans treat each other that I've lost all respect for them. I was brought up to treat people how you would like to be treated which I've always done. I've had more time wasted by people who have taken advantage of me being caring towards them than you could imagine. I am a realist and unfortunately that seems to have led me into a depressed state. Radical change sounds good and I'm lucky to be able to go and live anywhere and do anything, but at the moment I lack any desire to do anything so it's hard to decide what radical changes to make! I think the best thing for me to do is to try and find another type of work to do on the side which will feel more rewarding - like people have said, some volunteer work. I love animals so much more than people so maybe I'll turn my house into a guinea pig asylum or something.
  4. F*ck me. I'm 27, 28 next month. I find myself reading the news every day and feeling more miserable and sick of mankind. The days of hope and ambition seem well and truly dead. I'm finding that I have a complete lack of interest in everything and when it comes to seeing friends or family I'd rather just stay at home with my partner who feels exactly the same. I find myself having more meaningful conversations with people who I have known for years and finding out that their opinions and views are completely moronic and that we have absolutely nothing in common. I run my own business and have several people working for me who I can barely tolerate. My business is quite successful, but I find even this depressing as my previous energy that I would put into work isn't really necessary anymore and I could pretty much toss myself off all day vs working and achieve the same outcome. I have conversations with my parents who I couldn't feel further away from. My Dad is pro trump and brexit and my mum has no realistic view of anything in the world. I feel so much more experienced and understanding of the world than them that I can't even be bothered to talk about the things that interest me as they wouldn't understand. It's bizarre to no longer see my parents as the superheros they were when I was growing up. I come and read this forum (terrible idea) and feel even more depressed. My interest in Saints is dying at an alarming rate. Am I in a slump or was getting older and realising what a piece of sh*t the world is the same for everyone?
  5. This, 100%. aintforever doesn't seem to see marriage as a religious practice but I do. I think there should be a bigger push for everyone to opt for civil partnership. That being said, I fully understand why people get married and don't go for civil partnerships - being married has a better ring to it. I think the civil partnership exists soley to reach the same level of commitment but without the religious ties - which is why gay people are generally getting civil partnerships rather than getting married but now its being seen as the gay thing to do. I guess given time more and more straight couples will get civil partnerships and hopefully religion will continue to die. I really hope that gay marriage will not prevail so that this process can be sped up.
  6. Were you married in a Church? I literally don't care about the whole marriage thing so this certainly isn't meant to start a debate - you might even change my opinion within this thread. If I were religious I would consider being gay not religious and couldn't condone gay people getting married in the place of he who is holy. Also wouldn't be happy with people getting married who aren't religious. I was at a friends wedding a few weeks ago in a church and it was the most tortuously religious thing I've ever seen. They said it was only like it because their parents are very religious. All the talk of 'god forgive us for when we haven't walked in the path of christ' - they were both snorting coke before the wedding and the bloke had his fingers where they shouldn't have been in a strip club about 2 weeks before. I found the whole thing quite hilarious - but felt very sorry for the naive christians (even more so than usual) for all the effort they were making to these highly unjesus like people.
  7. This ****es me off. All potential parents should be vetted in the same way when it comes to adoption. I'm gay - but just a 'normal' person. It annoys me how most of my 'community' rub there personal life in each others faces. I don't attend gay pride, I don't agree with gay marriage (marriage is a religious thing - why can't we just settle for civil partnership? I would argue straight people who aren't religious shouldn't be allowed to get married too), but everyone should be treated equal. These two clearly aren't suitable to be parents but their sexuality shouldn't come into it. They're just useless human beings as are so many.
  8. I lol'd, then I read the comments, then I deleted my account. Bye
  9. Our contracts clearly need to be better written if he can step out of a 5 year contract without getting a big fine. We've paid him for ages whilst he's been injured and paid to get him fit again - he really is an absolute c*nt.
  10. I hope we at least slap him with a hefty fine. Once a judas always a judas - agreed lets get rid of him.
  11. All of this makes me really miss the days of the lower leagues when we had players who actually gave a crap.
  12. Thanks pal. Have done so.
  13. Hi Guys, I live in The Netherlands and have a Skoda Fabia 2004 whose ABS died the other day. Skoda have quoted €1,300 + fitting to replace it! I've looked online and found several available ranging from €50-100. I'll then need to find someone over here who will fit it for me. I have absolutely no idea about cars. I was surprised the ABS was even in the engine which the mechanic found hysterical. I've been looking online for a like for like replacement and have found both HZ1 and HZ2 versions. The HZ1 version is what I have at the moment. The guy from the Skoda garage said that if I had bought the car a couple of years later I wouldn't be having this problem as it was a common problem with my ABS. My question to you is, would the HZ2 version be the newer version without these problems? It seems logical to me that it would be and that considering they're pretty much the same price it would make more sense for me to buy the HZ2. Would this fit in my car OK or would I be best getting a like for like and sticking with the HZ1? This is the one I've got: http://www.ebay.nl/itm/SKODA-FABIA-VW-POLO-SEAT-IBIZA-ABS-PUMP-MODULE-6Q0-614-417D-0-265-900-009-/322578607251?hash=item4b1b2eec93:g:8KwAAOSwXetZW66x This is the one I'm considering getting as a replacement: http://www.ebay.nl/itm/ABS-PUMP-00-07-Skoda-Fabia-1-9-ABS-Control-ECU-0265800362-WARRANTY-5046654-/351798593286?hash=item51e8d48706:g:MasAAOSwtnpXnwH8 Thanks for your help!
  14. Thinking about getting one of these to replace my Octavia VRS - any thoughts? Never thought I would consider buying an Alfa but I can't find anyone with a bad thing to say about it! I was thinking of getting a Maserati Ghibli but when looking at the specs next to each other it doesn't come out very well at all. Anyone got one?
  15. Looked like an accident to me.
  16. I don't know if its just as I've got older and now I know all about the importance of adulthood, but has supporting a football club changed? I feel like supporting a football club used to be far more about the starting 11 and who was staying, who were we going to sign. Now I find myself reading the financial reports that the club release and all of that sort of thing. It's made me feel a lot more pessimistic towards the club and sport than I was in my younger days. I suppose a big part of that is the joys of being in the Premiership. It's so much about money now that even the fans have to be heavily involved in the financial affairs. I've fallen out of love with the sport in a big way and if it wasn't for my love of Southampton FC I think I would have another sport at the top of my pecking order. It seems to me that we've reached our peak and a lot of fans aren't happy about it. I personally wouldn't want us to become a Man City or Chelsea where we just buy our success. I'd rather nail ourselves in to finish mid-table and have a cup run or get a lucky break one season and find ourselves in the top 3. What changes would you like to see in Football to make things more exciting? What would you have Saints do that they're not doing at the moment?
  17. For me, this is one of the biggest moments in our history. In previous transfer windows we've had a bunch of players wanting out. This year we (seemingly) do not and VVD is the only major target other clubs. If we let him go, it confirms the negative comments of all the negheads on here. If we keep him, then it shows the door has shut and the club feel ready to push forward with a team full of committed players. I've really tried my hardest to trust Kat over the past few years and have thought that she was a methodical business woman who has got everything right (keeping things on our terms.) If we let him go with such a subtantial amount of time left on his contract then I will be swayed to feeling unhappy until we've got a new owner with more ambition.
  18. Been waiting years for Saints to make a real headline signing. This one has disaster written all over it. Don't like his attitude or his fitness record.
  19. Like it. The storyline is a bit disappointing from the demo I played. Would have been better starting at the bottom and working your way up. Hate ManU too.
  20. They fist bumped yesterday so it can't be that bad.
  21. I think Tadic is just a bit of a wind up merchant and now Austin and Redmond have turned up they're giving some of it back and there's just a bit of competition between the three of them. They all seem together enough when giving post match interviews and when they celebrate a goal being scored so I think it's nothing more than a bit of banter tbh. Nice to see they're all so competitive. With Shane Long, Tadic, Redmond, and Austin we've got some serious personalities in the team! Bertrand is phenominal. I really hope we can hang on to him long term. Played his socks off yesterday and put 100% into every move he made. Personally feel there is a real togetherness in the team at the moment which I never felt with Koeman at the helm. I think Puel allows players a bit more freedom to express themselves and this has helped the team gel. Feeling pretty positive about this season so far!
  22. No. The fans are bitc'ing like a bunch of bitc'hes and the players are sticking up for their manager. This is good news and shows togetherness. HTH.
  23. The best player we've ever had.....for clapping the fans.
  24. Jesus I would put up with China for a couple of years to make that kind of money.
  25. Agreed except I don't think we'll be relegated. I think we'll be bought by someone with a bigger chequebook. Kat runs this club as a business. She's happy with where we are - not prepared to spend big to get us to the top but will also ensure we stay mid table (IMO of course)
