I never had a problem with Ralph's tactics other than his timing on subs was very odd sometimes. I felt like he was of a good footballing mind and got us playing attractive football. I felt like the team were no longer behind him though and we needed a fresh start. I was hopeful that we would come up with a manager that I could never have predicted as the board have managed to do that several times now. Nathan Jones brings us nothing that we need. The players were, in my opinion, disillusioned with Ralph and had a poor relationship with him. We needed someone proven with a big personality. Instead we've got someone unproven in the Premiership who comes across more like a second hand car salesman than a manager. This will absolutely not have gone down well with the players and to top things off his football style is completely different to Ralph and doesn't suit our team at all. I see no success happening with him and think we should get rid. I have never wanted to sign one of the Premiership journeymen such as Big Sam but I would have been happier with that appointment than Jones as at least he's proven and I think would have got the team to gel again. I just fear we're pretty fucked now. Good quality players or managers are only going to join Saints at this point if we pay over the odds which seems completely against our boards principles. We need a new manager who is proven and has got other teams out of this situation before. Someone with a big personality who is going to get the team motivated. We need someone who is going to work off the back of how we were playing under Ralph rather than trying something entirely new. We also need a striker who can quickly get stuck in and start putting away some chances. Most importantly tactic wise we need to get our formation right and give our strikers more than one opportunity to score every game. I fear there isn't enough time to achieve all of these things.

What is the best goal you've ever seen live at a Saints game?
thesaint sfc replied to tunit's topic in The Saints
Wanyama against Hull. All the games I go to we lose. I must have seen Saints win twice out of about 40 times of going. I was also at THAT Leeds game. Think I'm cursed. -
Amazed to not see Kane mentioned in this post? Literally clatters into players whilst they're jumping to try and cause them injury. Absolute c*nt of a player.

£45m for a player who could end up being as impactful as Walcott.

Surely all this who is bigger stuff is nonsense? Man City were purchased when they were in close proximity to arguably the biggest club in the country.

The key question regarding points lost...
thesaint sfc replied to NewYorkSaint's topic in The Saints
For me, Romeu is a fantastic footballer and a real favourite player of mine as he's been around for a while now and comes with lots of experience. However, I don't think he fits very well into our team. He plays the ball back far too much which is good for keeping possession and very helpful when we're running out of steam, but not good if we're trying to really attack and get early chances. I'd like to see him perhaps be brought on as a substitute to replace someone more attacking focused when we're ahead and looking to slow things down. I think a big part of the reason that we can now see how important Stuart Armstrong is that we're seeing more of Romeu as a result of his injury. He's an absolutely solid defensive midfielder, but I think he's a bit old fashioned for the modern game and should be bought on when his approach is more useful. -
A lot of nasty hate talk on here about Macca. It's a shame as he certainly tries his best and is a good shot stopper, he's just not to Premier League standards unfortunately. Would make a good back up IMO but absolutely will be responsible for more of our lost points this season than any other player. Most important position for us to strengthen in January. Usually we have several areas whereas I feel we have good squad depth at the moment. With a new keeper and Stuart Armstrong coming back into the team we could have a much better second half of the season, and the first half has gone better than I had expected. COYR.

It's really nuts how many players I've signed years ago on Fifa who turned into gems. Adam Armstrong for example - signed him a good few years ago on Fifa from Newcastle. The games shit at a lot of things but think they generally do pretty well with that bit somehow.

Redmond for me is Shane Long only faster. I'd be glad to see the back of both of them. Wish we still had Tadic

thats enough saintsweeb for me today.

Totally agree with you, but I think most players coming here see us as just a stepping stone. Armstrong mentioned in his interview that we were his next step and he's signed a 4 year contract. It's a shitty situation but the club can't help it unless we get further investment. The Premier League is basically overpriced for us at the moment and signing these loan players and accepting these less interesting contracts for new signings is the best we can do unfortunately.

And then he got to take the first penalty

Charlie Austin - Sold to West Brom - 4M

I mean, I get that his comments are not worth reading as he's clearly quite a bitter, childish so and so, but I don't think we can really say he's entitled to say what he's said. I'm a financial advisor and if I went online calling clients c*nts, then I think it would be reasonably fair if my employer or the association that regulates me were to step in. I feel sorry for West Brom who have to put up with his juvenile behaviour and I'm glad that we got rid of him when we did - a solid bit of business. -
Football clubs are businesses. Saints has been run very poorly for the past few years. We have an owner who is not investing into the club so these mistakes will without a doubt cost us dearly. We can't spend our way out of our current situation. We will get relegated - whether it be this season, next season, or the season after. We can't sell the garbage that we've got for the price we bought it for. We're screwed. I think the best thing that can happen to us is that we get relegated, get rid of the garbage and then rebuild. The alternative is to scrape by staying in the Prem for the next few seasons until it inevitably happens. As an aside, for me I've never enjoyed supporting saints more than when we were in League 1 fighting our way back up. Just disappointing that all the work that Markus did for our club is now in vain.

Spot on. Done FA since he got here and now thinks he can move on to better things. I'd love Arsenal or Manchester to buy him, but surely they're not that stupid.

Would you believe that when SaintsForever closed I bought the domain saintsforum. So I credit myself for them calling it 'The Saints Forum.' That's right. I'm responsible for 'The.' My greatest achievement in life. Then the bastads renamed it saintsweb. -
Could we finish in the top half of the table?!

Some of these posts are far too optimistic for this foreham. -
I'm a financial advisor and I don't earn anything like Rose does, obviously, but I do my job because it earns me good money - not because I enjoy it. If you're not into the drama, cocaine and hookers that the industry brings, it can be a bit of miserable existence. I'm sure being a footballer is the same, and I think it's good that Rose is honest and down to earth about it. He does seem like a bit of a hypocrite though considering some of his past behaviour.

Do any of the first team players give a d@*n?
thesaint sfc replied to SFKA South Woodford's topic in The Saints
I'm not really surprised they don't care. As fans, we have absolutely no idea what the plan is for the club. We've had no information about the owner since he took over. It seems to me that this continues at club level - no one really seems to have a bloody clue. I've worked for companies owned by investors who don't have much interest in the company itself. It doesn't work for football clubs which require fans who require INFORMATION. Look at the top clubs in the league - the manager seems to know the intricate details of what is going on within the club and acts not just as manager but also the voice from the club to the fans. We don't have that. I don't think replacing Hughes or half the team is going to change much to be honest. Unless the owner changes his approach or puts a chairman in charge who actually says what is going on, I think we're destined to fail. -
Sadly, he is one of those players like many that flourish in a new environment but then suffer from complacency. We have several of those in our team. Then there are others that have flourished in our team and then done naff all elsewhere. I think Bertrand and Romeu have really suffered from complacency. It's the most difficult part of management IMO.

What happens to us who live in the EU? I can't believe that they're trying to give us the impression that they're in such advanced talks when even the basic things haven't been figured out.
