I am not surprised the off spring of those two would be a sulky, self entitled Frankenstein type monster.

Some individuals will always be higher and mightier than others (in their own minds anyway)...I wouldn't worry about it.. You are just as entitled to your opinion as they are. Interesting point about Everton, 18 months ago I would have said we would have been on a par with them (for attracting players to the club)- IMO we would have been about level with the "best of the rest".. Now I would say we are behind Everton, Leicester, Wolves, West Ham and Newcastle as well as the top 6 obviously. I think we would be in a group with Watford, Burnley, Palace and maybe Fulham? It's quite subjective from a fans view, and maybe other fans may see it differently?

I am sure Fat Kat sold him the club as a self sustaining entity. I can't believe he ever plans to invest. I am sure he will need to service the debts and a bit for him self, but I don't think Gao will be as blatant as helping out another business. Those thinking we will sign 6-7 players are living in cloud cuckoo land, unless we sign more championship standard players like Armstrong for 7m or less, the club has to find the money, without increasing debt, to buy players.
-
It feels like someone has created a climate where every player is just looking for his next move, whether they have just signed a contract or not. The only ones who stay are the ones no one else wants. It super, lovely and great that we may now even be selling arguably our most skilful players to European clubs on tiny turnover compared to ours. It was policy to sell us as a stepping stone and it seems that Les And Ralph can be very proud that they have 100% achieved that aim!
-
Not for me I am afraid. 1 of the three of us have renewed.
-
Where do I start? So JWP didn't score 5 goals as you stated? And you can't take goals off Tadic because one was a penalty? Are you saying we have to take all MLT's penalties off his record? You are mental... Tadic had a better goals per minute than JWP..end of...
-
Lol if you are going to quote stats don't include goals JWP scored in the U23 games....I am sure from memory only so may be wrong that he scored only 4 goals 3 in the league and 1 in the cup... Tadic had a better goals per minutes ratio that JWP I am sure last season but quoting made up stats just shows how blinkered you are!

It would be so typical of us to sell before we buy and then be left with either no replacement (like when we sold VVD) or a last minute purchase of some really ****e player (like Carillo). I can't see anything positive in Gao's reign yet. Those taking a massive bid for Maddison as a sign of things to come are deluded, we still will spend less than we have sold in the last few years. We don't get our first choice targets as we won't or can't pay the going rate. We will in most likelihood end up with fifth or sixth choice targets-if we get anyone at all (we will then tell everyone they are our first choice though) We have had a poor two years and we have (IMO) absolutely no idea how to turn it around.

Yes of course they do...his agent is paid to also manage his image...how many of our players have left and said "I left for the money". I am not saying it's wrong but it is reality....You live in a funny world if you think they aren't managing the image of players....even the very biggest stars never come out and say "I just signed a new contract because they paid me loads"....it's always about ambition and the club they love every etc which everyone knows is rubbish
-
Lol where do you think the source is from? The source is the agent who obviously wants his client to not look like another money grabbing mercenary....if he is given anything he tweets it, it's his job...and if he puts out what the agent wants he is more likely to get the next possibly juicier story... Who do you think his source is, if it's not someone from Maddison's camp?
-
Hmmmm..we won't pay Maddison more than Leicester will, yet we are going to pay Wiltshire the 130k a week Arsenal won't pay him and that others will? Not a hope in hell... (Even If we were going to spend that sort of money on wages I can think of 100 players who would be better value than Wiltshire!)

Her and the bloke from Robot Wars are two commentators that I really struggle with. They shout " the goalkeeper is taking a free kick" as though Pele is through on goal in the World Cup final having made a miraculous comeback. I disagree about the pundits, they are all pretty poor. Biased and they normally just revert to cliche's. A lot of the commentators, who haven't played top flight football, offer better and fairer analysis than the so called expert sat next to them.
-
Should we ignore everything you say on here the? she clearly has more experience than you in professional football and you ink she should not comment and yet you feel qualified to comment on all things football with zero experience?
-
Do they even sell black and white TVs anymore?
-
VAR will change very little. It will help with really obvious errors (Gabbi's cup final goal perhaps) but ultimately the bias will be the same whilst the ref has to ask for VAR. Take Austins semi final goal. If that happens against Man U in the league with VAR it would be disallowed with no review. Fair enough ref thinks he is right etc... However next game against Chelsea Giroud scores a goal exactly the same against us. The goal is given and the ref doesn't see a reason to review so the goal stands. Unless VAR is reviewed off the pitch and every decision reviewed it can't make any difference whatsoever ever to the big club bias. The premier league can't afford it to start levelling the playing field they need Man U and Liverpool at the top of the league to sell the product. Platini admitted to fixing the 98 World Cup draw to ensure the tournament had the best chance to be as good as possible (ignore the sporting aspect this is about making the product as good as possible and the fight teams in the final).....sound familiar to the quarter final FA cup draw last season anyone? I suspect the premier league we are watching now is heading toward wrestling style coordination it has in reality a while ago stopped being a sporting event and is just big business now.

Apart from Shearer I don't think any of those players actually won the English top league so not sure they would win it together?

Summer 2018 - Other teams Manager/transfer business
Saint-Fred replied to Batman's topic in The Saints
Egyptian? The players they have been signing don't scream out investment in the team for the last year, (Drinkwater and Barkley really?) rumours of pulling talks with Courtois, pulling or pausing the stadium development? Rumours of being unwilling to pay the buy out fees or wages for numerous managers? Didn't Hazard talk about needing to invest in the team? Conte obviously not happy? It all feels like he has become bored..told them to be self sustaining (with no champions league money?) and I don't know if he is prepared to pay what they would need to invest to compete with Man City any more?... Looks like those Chelsea fans need to decide which club they are supporting next! -
This should be a fun one to watch..... Real Madrid without a manager and possibly without Ronaldo and/or Bale.... Managers in consideration have to be Poch and Klopp...players in consideration have to be Salah and Kane depending on what sort of World Cup they have.... It Couldn't happen to two nicer clubs!
-
It's funny isn't it how people see others differently? In Ronaldo I see someone who works massively hard to be as good as he can be, he does a lot for others too despite this image of self preening and self promotion etc( which may be annoying but actually doesn't hurt anyone else) so I think his positives far outweigh any negatives in his personality... IMO that's the issue with holding footballers and other celebrities as role models (noted that you don't..sorry about that! ) as it is still down to individual interpretation so what I think is acceptable others will not. The whole celebrity thing is flawed and if parents need them to role model for their kids there is probably something wrong with society.
-
Can't understand why you consider Ronaldo a negative role model? He has plenty of positive traits which a lot of kids would do well to replicate.

Liverpool fans in general are the worst in my experience. From the threats to Gerrard, the love in with the cheat Suarez and the behaviour which led to English teams being banned from Europe as a very few examples. They have no shame in cheering a dirty foul by one of their own players one minute then screaming like a victim the next when someone does it to their team or claiming tapping up for one of their players yet praising the blatant own tapping up. A generalisation yes but I have yet to meet one Liverpool I respect with regards to their view of football...the minority set of idiots that are at every club seems to have infected them all. The media probably don't help as its the mindset shown by high profile idiots like carragher , Quinn etc.
-
I hope Ramos did it deliberately...it just makes it all sweeter....#notstoppedsmilingyet!
-
Lol I don't feel sorry for him at all...earning millions to play a game? Get a life man. How many finals has Klopp lost now? Micky "I feel that Liverpool have a special relationship in this cup and they are destined to win" Quinn will be funny to listen too next time he is on the radio...like the rest counted his chickens.....
-
Lol the victims tag now is nothing to do with Hillsboro...I assume you were a fan back in the day and switched during the lean times?
-
I don't think our signings have been terrible...I do him the poor managers haven't got the best out of them and that obvious gaps in the squad aren't always immediately addressed. With a reasonable manager we will be ok
