We have won something like 3 games in 19 this Calendar year. I'd say "nearly scoring" isn't good enough and we need to start winning. I bet every team is looking at us thinking "that's three points". Judging whether we are better than other sides at present is dangerous, Look at Palace they looked dead and buried last season so I would assume every team (including us) will improve at some point.

I think that's positive from Hughes..shows he isn't as stubborn as some believe. Stephens and Hoedt did OK in some games last season so not sure why such a big downer on them?
-
You need to look up what a hypocrite is..I think you are struggling with that... If what you say is true.....and your posts were all about how much footballers earn and how those poor clubs might go bankrupt then why...oh why...did you even bring up doctors and nurses then? I couldn't care if palace go bust... And I don't care if villa go bust. Even if they do another club will just replace them and someone else wil pay Zaha 100k a week. Football is absolutely awash with money. Clubs don't need fans to make money anymore. If you don't understand why Zaha can earn that sort of money then you are struggling with economics generally. Lol..I earn lots more than a nurse but no I don't donate it to charity. However I am not the one posting that doctors and nurses should be paid more than footballers. The doctors/footballers argument is about the lamest argument in the world..makes me laugh that those who make that argument think that it's ok for them to earn more than a nurse but not for Zaha, or a film star, or a cricketer, or a politician etc to earn more....

What job do you do? I hope you don't get paid more than the lowest paid Nurse? If you do get paid more, unless you are saving lives in your own job, you should give the extra to charity. This will ensure your moral code is upheld.

I can't see us keeping a clean sheet and therefore we would need to score two to win. I can't see us scoring more than one, therefore at best a draw, more likely a defeat by the odd goal though IMO. Looking at the fixtures I am not sure where I would predict our first win will be. We desperately need an upturn in home form and start turning draws at home into wins. Perhaps Ings may be the catalyst for that?

England's record at the World Cup was something like W3 D1 L3....despite the easiest draw it was by far the worst record of any of the semi finalists.

That's nothing to do with Europa league, that's how they played last season and it's much the same side.

I think if we score we will win...

A positive is it's a player who has played in the league and knows the league. However the lack of games in recent seasons, the amount spent on him and his likely wages makes me wonder whether this will just be another millstone around he neck of a club who can't get rid of a number of costly, highly paid players who can't make the first team? It's a very big gamble..and people said Cortese gambled with the future of the club!

Pretty sure Bournemouth have stripes on the back too...there is no regulation, we just chose to have plain backs.

Fat Kats legacy. -
Isn't that the tactic that Burnley used all last season? If we do the same it will be the most boring game in history!

"We" thought we had a model that all other clubs should copy, "we" revelled in the lime light and thought we were miles better than we actually were. No individual mattered, the system would win through. We could let talented senior leaders, back room staff, managers and players leave with no regard for the quality of the replacement as the system would sort them out. In fact we had a model which only worked due to talented individuals, despite the system. The failure to understand that the individual is the most important thing (not the system) has been our downfall and will continue to be our downfall whilst the current management team remain in place. So no, we haven't learnt a thing. Ps we also have a bloke with no football knowledge and no money as an owner so he is no help in any capacity either.

Saints vs Borussia Mönchengladbach - Match Thread

The battle cry of the permanant loser. It is possible to win both and losing today does not guarantee winning next week? Not sure how we will do this season. We have a real lack of quality but then again I can name 6 or 7 teams who also lack quality. I think we may be in for a few hammerings against the top 6 though. -
The issue is surely, that this is also a training exercise for Derby as well. And yet they were significantly better than us..

You have spoken to a different lot than me. The ones I know hate him with a passion and blame him (and him only) for them going down!

Wow how old was Arthur? And was the talk interesting?

Lol some South Americans are good you muppet! There has been some good ones playing in this country not sure why you are labelling them all the same? Not sure 62m on a (any) keeper is good business though? -
Lol the mistake you are making is that one person posting or even two or three posting is not a representation of our fan base. Muppet.

Obviously they will replace him, So where will they spend the money? Hazard? Neymar? Salah? MBappe? Could be the transfer that kick starts the market? -
Nearly, Liverpool have bought these ones from us as they were so impressed by them as they even made Lovren look good.

we might have to sell Carillo bit by bit like this. -
I was talking about attracting players, do you think currently we are a more attractive proposition than Wolves? I would say,IMO only, that a player having exactly the same terms would probably chose Wolves over us. They have the potential, the backing and a rich history which might just give them the edge. A club on the up. We on the other hand, have just avoided relegation, have had three managers in the last 18 months, made two players sit outside of the first team squad for different reasons (therefore we potentially have unrest in the camp), have played poor football which suggests we are not a great showcase for a player to show he is good enough for Liverpool and players who made the England squads previously dropped out of contention due to our poor form last season...including Bertrand who started the last season pretty much as England's first choice left back but ended up not even in the squad for the World Cup. I would be interested in why you think someone would chose us over Wolves?
