  2. I told a utd supporting friend when Bale first pulled on a Saints shirt that he'd eventually replace giggs at Utd and I think it would be a great move for him, he deserves to play for a big big club, no offense to tottenham, but he's better than that
  3. I have never heard St Marys as loud as when Henri slammed that ball home!!
  4. he was good on Championship manager 97/98
  5. I was going to comment on the game, but instead I'll comment on the utter knobs that are slitting their wrists after a freak result away to a good side! 4 points from 2 tough away games at promotion chasing sides and we're in turmoil!!! FFS there really are some Muppets on this forum
  6. Ricardo Fuller Kevin Davis (2nd time around) Stephen Crainey Paul Telfer
  7. Was gutted when Pardew Left Was underwelmed when Adkins took over After the recent performances I'M ON THE BUS!!!! Nigel ADKINS RED & WHITE ARMY!!!!!!
  8. I thought Holloways comments were pretty funny actually. but honestly who really cares, if he cant handle a few fans taking the **** then maybe the pressure got to him a little bit, if he didnt want it he should have played a stronger side, a side that i'm sure would have probably beaten us, but they have bigger things to worry about, like staying in the premier league. As for Brighton fans always talking about us, it's a bit odd... where has this come from, did they used to do it when we were in the prem? Or is it a jealousy thing since we've fallen from grace and they think we're throwing our weight around a little?
  9. Agreed, he was by far their best player on the day and was the only player that looked likely to make things happen.
  10. As already mentioned on this thread, the man utd team once stayed at the crest hotel in Eastleigh, they were training on fleming park before they began watching the kids games being played that morning. I must have been about 8 or 9? Again over fleming park, we would regularly see Jimmy Case walking his dog, we'd run up to him and talk as he walked his dog, also sometimes sat on the bench and watched us play for half hour or so. Probably about 10 or 12 years ago now. Steve Nicol was best man for a family friend so spent ages taking the **** out of Liverpool, I must have been about 8 at the time so around 1990. I remember Nicol heading to the toilet completely ****ed moaning about how **** Liverpool were... he must have been saying it in jest but I was too young to understand sarcasim at the time. I remember telling all my mates for weeks how he'd said Liverpool were ****... this was the liverpool that used to win everything. Meet James Beattie a few times, nicked a slice of David Pruttons Kebab, Ken Monkou sat next to me at an away game once, Think it may have been Tottenham!? Francis Benali used to live round the corner of a family friend and used to come to the BBQs
  11. Shocking performance today, GULY was ****!!! Lallana couldnt hit a chuffing barn door!!! SO HACKED OFF PS: I had £10 on 5-1 ;-)
  12. Went to the game today my thoughts... Kelvin Davis - 4 - had little to do, but what he did have to do... he did wrong. Surely didn’t help his confidence with 2 poor defenders in front of him Dickinson - 6.5 -Apart from a lazy pass towards the end, was one of our better players, tried to get forward as often as he could Jedi - 4 - he just looks so so uncomfortable on the ball, his defensive tactics just seem to be about bundling people over and being a big lump. In the first half he lost out to at least 3 heads to a guy a foot shorter than him Seaborne - 4 - Looks more composed on the ball than jedi, but defends just as badly, allows players to take a touch and turn before hustling and tackling, too many long balls forward not good enough Butterfield - 6 - solid enough I suppose Chamberlin - 5.5 - looked to use his pace as often as he could, but was marked out the game. Missed a great opportunity and went missing for large periods Spider man - 4 - offered nothing today Hammond - 4 - tried to lead by example and ran around like a headless chicken... only problem is his run is everyone else’s jog!! If you want to try and impose yourself on games you need an all action midfield that can get around the field quickly, Hammond just isn’t that midfielder. To Slow and to lethargic! Lallana – 6 - showed flashes but at times is too “Roy of the rovers” gets his head down, runs straight at goal and then into defenders. Sometimes there’s a ball to be played and he just doesn’t play it. So much still to learn De Ped – 5 – looked interested at times, and completely uninterested at others. Flat footed like most of the team today. We missed barny buzzing around and pulling defenders wide BIG TIME!! Lambert – 6 – played well today, put the running in, won most flick ons, but subsequently he doesn’t have enough pace to put defenders under pressure quick enough and when he won the headers… no one was there to collect them.
  13. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/8731453.Police_bid_to_shut_city_bar/ I know the people involved, I know people who have been question... I'd be surprised if barny wasnt charged
  14. Lee Barnard, Barnard He's short and he's f*cking hard He's wanted by Scotland Yard Lee Barnard, Barnard best one yet
  15. best one yet!
  16. Saw him out on the **** in Southampton last night...could mean anything I suppose
  17. Phil Brown - Does love a tan, and we're closer to france than most. You have to worry! Zola - I reckon he could still play, anyone have a spare pair of size 3s? Paul Hart - 3 clubs in a year, he's making Steve Coppell look good! Iain Dowie - 3rd Ugliest man in football, after Luke Chadwick and Tevez, Could scare the team into life. Chris Coleman - Something about his face annoys me, it's like too smooth?! Tony Mowbray - He's a pretty good manager to be fair, even if he did struggle with Celtic... but then they're **** Eddie Howe - Stabililty? He's that young he could manage us for the next 30 years!!! Gary Megson - Would suffer exactly the same problems he did at Bolton Alan Shearer - Always thought he'd make an exceptional manager though. If we did well he'd be off to newcastle in a flash! Kevin Blackwell -Wouldnt be the end of the world I suppose Tony Adams - Gabala FC are a much bigger club than we are... I mean they're paying him £1m a ****ing year!!! Paul Tisdale - maybe Gareth Southgate - I didnt like the Pizza Hut advert he did Chris Coleman - He's on the list twice, maybe thats why I dont like him, he's 2 faced... boomboom Paul Ince - The Guv'nor, or as I like to call him The C*nt is simply not welcome! Paul Jewell - yeah I'd take him
  18. Martin every single day of the week. As strange as this may sound, Jaidi was one of the reasons we played so badly on Saturday. I dont doubt the need to have an absoulte unit in defence in this league, and in that respect Jaidi is perfect, but at the same time if every single time he gets the ball he just smashes it up field then it's no real advantage. Jaidi would be perfect if he done the things he done well (like throwing his body in the way) then when he wins the ball just play it short to Fonte, but it doesnt, it goes long, EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! For that reason I want to see Martin there, he has the ability
  19. He was stood right in front of a few 6 or 7 year olds in the front row, blocking their view for some of the first half, it wasnt until someone had a pop and told him to move that he got out their way.
  20. Dont read the Sun anyway and honestly couldnt care what they say about us.
  21. Being privy to a handful of inside information I can say I’m saddened but not concerned. I am led to believe that we weren’t going to be spending a great deal of money in this transfer window because of the previous £8 Million investment in the first team last season, from a “Southampton Fan” perspective Markus’ sad death doesn’t really change the position of the club and its strength within the division. We will continue to look at free transfers (players like Vassal & Benjani) and put faith in some very good young players as was the plan for this season. I also believe, and this is purely speculation on my part, nothing more, that Cortese will almost take a “Proxy ownership” of the club, working on behalf of the beneficiary to for fill Markus’ wish of Premier League football, and then will look in to selling the club. I think we can all make up our own minds about Cortese, and why I am absolutely positive that he does rub a few people up the wrong way, having a strong and focused leader at the helm during this difficult time will only further strengthen our position. I can only see Markus’ death as further motivation for success in that sense. This really really should serve to unite the fan base now, from a personal point of view Markus’ death was sad, but even more so it opened my eyes to the fact that my own dad (who is only 4 years younger than Markus) may not have that long left , and that’s a thought that petrifies me. Some things are more important than football, but football is very much one of the biggest things me & my dad share, and when you think about it, the best thing about going to football is the enjoyment you share with those you love and those around you. Very few things in life can bring people together like football does, and football, Southampton Football club in particular, has and will continue to bring me and my dad together. Markus’ death for me has made me realise what is important, forget about the politics, and let’s get back to enjoying the football with those we love. Let us saviour and appreciate every second of it. Life really is too short, winning the league this year for Markus will be a fitting tribute, and when god forbid I lose my own dad, it will be a moment in my life that I will be able to look back on with immense happiness as something we shared and something I will never ever forget, and I will remember, it was Markus that allowed that moment to happen because of his investment and what he has done for this club, he’ll hold a special place in my heart for doing that and I will never ever forget it, that’s the way to remember him and that, above all else, is what we should be aiming for. COYR!
  22. I seem to remember one of our scouts mentioning that he spotted javier saviola at a very young age but they couldnt get a work permit... read it in the echo I think
  23. I think its more to do with the fact he is dealing with footballers... and money talks! How confident should he be if we are trying t o sign a player who is also being tracked by prem clubs?
  24. I rate Holmes and if he can stay fit "He'll be like a new signing, core blimey yes he will"
  25. I'm not alarmed or annoyed... frustrated maybe but certainly not disappointed. I'm positive that it's every managers intention to sign the players they want as soon as they can to give them adequate time to work with them pre season, surely that’s just common sense. However, what can you do if the players you have highlighted are simply not available yet or have chosen to move to other clubs? We certainly don’t want to get into the habit of signing players "just for the sake of it" I'm sure no one is more frustrated with the way its progressed thus far than pardew... I mean it’s not like he has to wait around for frees... he has money to spend. The transfer market has been slow in all divisions up till this point, because of the world cup, and that does have a domino effect to the lower leagues, clubs are reluctant to release players until they have replacements and if we assume the majority of clubs are trying to sign players better than they already have, then no real movement will start until the big boys start selling players.
