  1. Frankly I'm relaxed about who stays and who goes and who we sign. I'll be disappointed if Lovern & Schniderlin also leave as I've enjoyed watching them, but I won't lose any sleep over it, even if they're not replaced. I'll be optimistic that whoever we sign can offer something to the team as our transfer record over the last 5 years has been more hit than miss, but I won't rant and rave if no ones signed, if we do get players I won't judge on transfer fee or till I've seen them play. I really do just enjoy football in it's purest form. 11 vs 11, whether we field 11 internationals or 11 from the academy. Whether we win or lose I don't care, my only hope is that we compete and I'm entertained.
  2. I'm 31, Koeman is still a huge respected name in football. If you haven't heard of Koeman it's because you're not a football fan!
  3. Has he signed yet...
  4. Like it, best kit we have had in the Libeher era. Won’t buy it though, but don’t buy replica shirts
  5. In all seriousness, I don’t think there's a club in England where players wouldn’t be tempted to move to Real or Barcelona, they're the two biggest clubs in the world for me. They also have better weather... no matter how many leagues Man City\Man Utd\Liverpool win the way of life in those cities is incomparable to the Spanish life style. Players maybe more tempted by Chelsea & Arsenal because of the lifestyle London can offer, still don’t think it's a big enough draw for players who are more accustomed to a better climate. They should be grateful they got an extra season out of Suarez, he was clearly after a move last summer. While it is somewhat satisfying that a big club experiences the same disappointment we do when we lose a player, it also highlights that it is and always will be a sellers’ market to 99.9% of clubs not matter how illustrious your history maybe. Loyalty from fans should always be to a club & not to a player
  6. Absolutely, those trademark grass cutter shots won’t go down well. When you consider the fee for what is really only 1 good season in the premier league it’s certainly not the end of the world.
  7. That's because of transfer fees though, buying out the contract is supposed to mitigate that ****ing over.
  8. I agree, on the face of it why sign a 5 year contract if you don't intend to honour it, but for me a contract shouldn't be viewed like that. For the player - It's about ensuring he has income if he gets a long term injury - It's so he can offer his family security (whether he honours the contract or not) - It will define image rights\advertising right shares etc For the Club - It ensures that if a player decides to leave they can command a fee - It protects against their "development" investment As well as a whole heap of performance related/loyalty bonuses which need to be defined in a legal contract, Lallana probably wanted a pay rise at the time so had to sign a new contract, the club likely insisted that in return for his pay rise he sign a 5 year contract so they can command a larger fee if a situation like what’s happened ever arose.
  9. On the contrary, I believe I do get it. You take football out of the equation it’s just a job to Lallana, the prospects of playing for Liverpool are incomparable to playing for Southampton. His loyalty is to his Family & to his career not to his Employeer, regardless of the remaining contract length (that’s there to protect the club as well as security for the player and ensures we get the £25,000,000 rather than nothing) 90% of people would act in the same way against their employer if they were being held against their will and being denied a 50-60% payrise and better prospects.
  10. A few will have egg on their face after their reaction yesterday. The club & Lallana clearly fell out, doesn't mean he lost respect for the fans that supported him for the last 14 years. He's a young lad offered 100k a week, 26 million over 5 years and the chance to further his career. He can setup his kids and his kids kids for life, it's a no brainier. He may have acted out of turn, but does that show his lack of respect for Southampton or his desperation to join Liverpool? If players like Hammond etc can move on and still be welcomed back then so should Lallana, he was good enough to leave in our first season in league 1 but didn't and he was a massive part of getting us back to the premier league. It's good business, he's not worth 25 million to anyone other than Saints because of what he represented, we got good money he looks to be replaced by quality so we can all move on amicably now.
  11. 100,000 a week, 5 year deal, £26,000,000 over the course of his deal. You can talk about loyalty all you want, no one would turn down that obscene amount of money!!! Good luck to him, he'll need it as he won't be starting every week and he needs to hit the ground running. A repeat performance of his first season in the prem & Liverpool fans will turn on him
  12. I agree with you, but I think it's slightly different in Suarez case. If Morgan or Gaston did something I'd feel hard done by as it would be their first offence, Suarez has bitten THREE Players! I think it's more comparable to The Osvaldo incident, we knew he had previous and once he re offended we had no sympathy for him. Liverpool fans should blame Suarez and no one else, he's let them down badly after they've stood by him time and again
  13. I'd say Lovern is easily a 20+ million defender. I'd also say he is probably the hardest to replace
  14. I'd give all the players who haven't featured yet a start, there would be no point at all playing the same 11 that started the last 2.
  15. Agreed, the only difference being that 18 year old footballers have access to page 3 girls who are happy to sell stories to the media. It's the only reason it's more publicised
  16. I'm with you on that, not a clue what this means!
  17. Or that he genuinely hasnt made up his mind yet, he has been here for 14 years, whether a move is on the cards or not it must be difficult
  18. Refreshingly articulate young man, speaks very well & from that interview alone comes across as very level headed. The picture with his proud parents either side sums this football club up. #thesouthamptonway
  19. Why koeman Got right profile, used to working with young players, proven developing young players and improving players. Also very successful as coach and player Never manager in england can he adapt He will adapt very easily, thoughts on game, he's study premier league, quailties of man will be whether he can adapt Brother erwin to be assistant, that'll be plus as family members will want to be successful. Adding goalkeeping coach in due course How much stabalising? Dont think he will need to do much, KL did that when she came in, thats the strength of the club (the staff) Koeman plays into the coaching\scouting etc departments On players leaving Logical not to make moves (in or Out) without manager input, thats for Les & ronald to sit down and assess, changes will be made that are relevent to future of club (if right for club) All fees recieved reinvested into the squad. Chances on lallana staying Difficult to say, nothing been done at the moment, strong chance Adam will want to be part of southampton On Shaw Big talk on money, transfer fees getting quoted contain add ons etc, allot of water to pass under the bridge yet, have to do whats right for SOTON future
  20. Most exciting managerial appointment of my lifetime :-)
  21. Absoutle crap, from a Human Resources point of view any contractual changes would need the player to agree & sign to the amended terms! If it really was the case that the board had changed their contracts without any agreement from the player then legally the contract could be seen as null & void and the player would leave for nothing.
  22. Why would he want to move to Barcelona, they're **** arent they!
  23. Agreed and to quote my wife... It's just a game, it's really not that important in the wide scheme of things!
  24. I'm pretty sure we're going to see a different Man Utd next year too, so it wont be as easy for Liverpool to get top 4. They still rely on Suarez quiet heavily & there's still allot of the summer left
  25. An extremely good and articulate interview that should completely put all fans at ease, I feel 100% confident that the club is in safe hands With Les Reed as director of footballing matters, he has had a MAJOR MAJOR role in getting this club where it is today, he has given absolutely no reason what so ever to doubt his involvement since he joined in April 2010. The summer activity can only be judged come next May. I have every confidence that all decisions made by the club will be in the clubs best interested. Excited about next season 
