I don't think many Saints thought he would excel in the Premier League when we signed him in League One for £1m. He was 27 then (I think).
-
I would have thought the emphasis would be on "you don't HAVE to correct everyone" too instead of the 'DONT'

stevegrant owns you and everything you say on here. Granted (lolz) that doesn't mean he is reliable but being the owner of the website, I think most people would have reason to generally rely upon the accuracy of his words and sources.

His comments seem to be direct quotes, so have to assume they are true. If Lovren goes too, that won't help strengthen Morgan's wish for Saints to show ambition by letting our best centre back go. The more players leave, the more will want to leave. We need to actually start signing players to show that we are ambitious. At this stage, words don't cut it!

Ramirez to be the hero this season

It looks like the kit I have most seasons after doing my Premier League team online, and then I have to design the kit, and I just randomly throw in colours here and there, with some vague semblance of colours that kind of compliment each other, but otherwise are pretty garish. Or maybe even one of the old Sensible Soccer kits I used to have for my team! I know Mr Grant is in charge and all that, but he did just say it was "from a mate". Any chance you'd like to tell us which mate Steve, like where he works, in what capacity etc, and how he has been able to "leak" this image early. Far too many taking it as gospel - although at the same time all of course hoping it's not true! I would be amazed if that is our kit next season. I call BS.

Why are they vultures? Are we a dying club?

Disgraceful behaviour by our future queen

THAT is exactly what The Sun want people to think. If you actually re-read it more carefully, they have worded it to trick you into thinking this. What they actually mean is the 3am AFTER England played Urguay, Luke Shaw had some of this discussion with this woman from LA. Which was of course just before our exit from the World Cup i.e. we exited from the World Cup when Italy lost to Costa Rica the next day. It is probably even 3am UK time too, so prior to midnight over there, but doesn't clarify that. Or 3am in LA - where this woman is based. I love that from swapping a couple of texts/tweets/whatsapp messages which were mainly only several letters long, she thought Luke would potentially visit her in LA. Plus, look at her form. For those of you who wouldn't want to judge her for any slutty/tarty behaviour, she has previous as has sold stories like this before about footballers. It is almost like she is luring these famous men into having these conversations so she can then sell them and make some money and obtain some fame... Not sure how a Playboy model is "disgusted" by a threesome either. If I was an 18 year old lad, and I either got a response or a message from a Playboy girl, I would reply and make jokes about threesomes too. Remember she is in LA - not like any of this was going to happen. And just for the record Saint George (sorry, not picking on you) did you think England were the ****iest team of the tournament after we played Italy? Or only after we played Uruguay? I think the general consensus at the time (unless you disagree) was that we done ok against Italy. Only with hindsight after losing to Uruguay does the Italy game seem worse. Such a non story exaggerated massively by The Sun and bizarrely made into headlines.

Indeed. I reckon Baines was about our worst player over the two games - not sure Shaw would/could have done any worse!
-
It was confirmed last night by Hodgson that he will not be involved tonight. Back in full training after though, so potentially involved for the Costa Rica game.

What do you think Liverpool fans think of their own captain these days - Gerrard? He very publicly almost moved to Chelsea, but stayed after (I believe) changing his mind eventually. We've seen nothing 100% from Lallana or the club that he wants to move, it might well be true, but he might yet stay with Saints and play another 6 - 10 years with us. I think the fans will remain behind him, even if some fickle fans initially will think he is some kind of "disgraceful" traitor. lolage at the thought that Lallana, having been at Saints for x amount of years now, failed to consider how the fans feel about him leaving, double/trebling his salary and getting the chance to compete for trophies and further his career. It's a job ffs! Because Lallana was with Saints as a youth, does he therefore HAVE to stay with us until he retires from football? When is he allowed to leave and how does he go about it? Only if we get £80m? He wasn't even a Saints fan as a kid!

ooh thanks Guan two point zero. Nothing too scary there! Hoping having a new manager and stability can build bridges where required.

ha same, also page 2,453. I'm always confused why I am on different pages to everyone else - now I know I'm not the only one!
-
Same team and formation, with Shaw for Baines and Lallana for Rooney. (sounds biased coming from a Saints fan of course!) If we play like we did against Italy, but improve it by dropping our two poorest players, we'll win it .

numbers 14 and 22 are my favourites

Wiping out the....? The anticipation is killing me! Also - sounds like nonsense.

When Shaw gets sold in 2015, and Student is proved right, then you'll all be sorry!

I can't understand it
-
I refer you Window Cleaner to post 2393 as above - sound like someone you want at Saints? No thank you!!

I love your thinking Alpine. Because Gerrard "tapped up" Rickie by telling him Liverpool is a great club and encouraging him to join them in case Liverpool bid for him (I would imagine that was a very long conversation and Rickie needed a lot of persuading) when on England duty, you are now anti-England. Yup, makes sense.

New Southampton manager to be given a "minimum of a £50m transfer kitty"

It is his f*cking job you complete and utter loon. Why does he need to show us more respect than the obviously HUGE amount of respect he has shown us? Why should he have turned down a once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity "promotion" to his boyhood supporting club? Saints got compensated by selling him and getting cash. Transfers are part of football. If you can't understand how thats works, explains why you fail to understand how most other things in football work. I'm gutted he has gone, but don't hold it against the guy - such a great story, with (potentially) the perfect ending for him. Love Rickie Lambert, sad to see him leave, but wish him all the best.
