The vast majority of drivers don't look after their cars as it is, how many even know where to check the oil or screenwash, brake fluid etc on their current car? The mentality is to put fuel in it until it breaks, or only take it to the garage at MOT time. Make that every 2 years and the number of unroadworthy cars driving around will shoot up. Even the article says; Imagine all that damage done in a year, but you only find out about it twice as bad at MOT time. Your wife or children going round in cars that could potentially be deemed unsafe because they didn't think they needed to do any maintenance for 2 years instead of one. Scary thought.

To be honest, a full driving test is nearly £69, I'm very surprised the government hasn't already make 5 or 10 yearly retests mandatory. Imagine how much more money they'd make from all the fails!

I'm 25 and have been lucky that there has been no deaths in my family or mates that I see in the last 10 years or so. But I'm massively into motorsport and post on a lot of car-related forums and I honestly got tearful when two prolific posters passed away within 6 months of each other (one through cancer, one through a car accident). I also welled up when I heard about Colin McRae dying, and David Leslie's plane crash, yet if a footballer dies or someone in the public eye, I just say awwwww and move on. I think its harder if you actually know the person or follow them/associate with them closely, but we all feel and react to things differently, its just a foilble of being human. As long as you can respect the needs of others to mourn and don't be insensitive about it, I wouldn't worry.

If I use http://www.google.com everything works fine. Google problem, Firefox problem or something else?
