That's because the fans were watching the game and could see we couldn't hit a cow's ass with a banjo. HTH

Beggars Out In Force in Southampton....
No 2 to Maybush replied to beatlesaint's topic in The Lounge
You only need 10 people an hour for 10 hours to hand over 2 quid to have a very nice tax-free earner. £48K per year in fact! Even half that would mean them getting more than any of my kids who are working full time. Of course, I haven't included holidays in my calculations - obviously have to make allowances for 2 weeks in the Summer and a week at Christmas. -
This! Why Koeman persists with him on the right is one of the mysteries of the season.
-
It should have been apparent to Les Reed in November-December that JayRod wasn't going to feature significantly this season, so I lay the blame fairly and squarely on his shoulders for not bringing in a suitable addition to the squad. Same for Gallagher, who didn't exactly impress last season anyway. We were always one injury away from being in the merde up front.

See you're trying to keep up your daily Troll count Turks!
-
We are too predictable in our play to garner the required points between now and the end of the season to make the Champions League places. We will be lucky to finish in the top 6 unless Koeman changes our playing style to make us more incisive in the final 3rd.

I think the vast majority of you are seriously underestimating the global rise of women's football and the commercial opportunities that are rising in tandem with this growth. The club have an opportunity to be proactive on this with an eye to the future. I am sure it would not do the Saints franchise any harm to have formal representation in this market, and if nothing else, fits with our "community club" ethos.

If he is going to be a future captain he is gonna have to start pulling the strings in midfield a bit more and contributing with some goals. Pleased he has signed, but yet to be convinced judging by what I've seen of him so far.

Saints Sign Filip Djuricic on loan from Benfica

£32 million release clause in his contract? WTF LOL -
I think Ronald needs to make it plain to the players that anything less than 100% effort will not be tolerated, and on that basis I would drop Tadic for this game as he looked totally disinterested on Saturday. Same for Gardos. I would cut Corky some slack as he is just coming back from injury and struggled to get on the pace of the game.

Ossie evidently told Mancii to Fook Orf which is why he's going

So are people saying we can only get value from JWP against so-called "weak" teams? I guess I could be comfortable with that as long as he is rotated out for the games against the "strong" teams. However, Is he in danger of becoming a peripheral squad player like Gaston did? Because frankly I don't see the value in a midfielder who spends the bulk of his game time running from one side of the pitch to another and not putting a tackle in.
-
Totally agree. Can we afford to carry JWP just for his dead ball ability? He just didn't get in the game today and this isn't the first time.

Artur Boruc joins Bournemouth on loan
No 2 to Maybush replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Thought I read that we could recall him after the first month of the loan? -
I used to like the Southampton chant, spelling out the name, reminded me of the scene in the Italian Job when Noel Coward came down the steps in Jail. Inoffensive, and intimidating when repeated over and over.
-
Have to say it was a great game - wouldn't have thought it was a friendly. Wish England could play as well as those two teams :-(

Heard a rumor today that Gnabry could be joining on loan for the season, subject to getting regular game time. Source: Gooner fan.

Im currently in Hong Kong and have seen the obligatory ManU and Liverpool shirts on the street. The simplest thing we could do to strengthen the brand is to improve the logo. The forest over the water with the home rose is not strong enough. We need to simplify it, and I would suggest the Wessex dragon over the rose would immediately increase our penetration into Asia. Also, reducing the white content on the strip - for all his faults, Cortese knew where we should be focussing our marketing, and that is Asia. FWIW

This is the one that makes me feel sick in the stomach. Sooo much potential. To quote South Park " Aaaand its gone!"
-
Well, it helps if you actually quote what I have written, instead of using words that infer a different meaning than what I wrote. What bit of "improve our squad depth" do you not understand? The word to focus on here is DEPTH. And I want to see players brought in to add DEPTH that are better than what we currently have in the squad, otherwise we are not improving the DEPTH.
-
Too lightweight for the central role in all the games I saw him play in last season. Has to push on big time this season and make an impact.
-
Maybe I'm mistaken, but I believe there was a concensus of opinion that we needed to improve our squad depth after last season's injuries exposed just how threadbare the squad was. Or did I just imagine all those defeats when Artur, Lovren and Vic were injured? I have seen no evidence that we have even begun to attempt to increase our squad depth. Claiming our Acadamy graduates will "step up" and solve our squad depth issue from Day 1 of the new season is naive in my opinion, and I can see us being on the end of some serious spankings if that is the path the club plan to take. And then we have the issue of replacing 1st team members who have been transferred out of the club. In my opinion, talk of a total of 4 new recruits to the squad will NOT improve squad depth sufficiently to improve on last year's performance. I will be pleased to see our Acadamy graduates being integrated into the squad. However, thinking back to the start of the season 10 years ago and Killer's knee injury just highlights how capricious fate can be, and I do not want us being put into a position where we repeat the debacle of the LAST Dutch experiment. People commenting that we still have 5 weeks to go until the window closes seem to conveniently forget that it is 10-11 weeks since the season ended. For all the bluster about tracking players through our extensive scouting network and having identifiable targets, we have so far brought in 2 players on the back of our new manager. I am prepared to wait until the 3rd August, as Guan has advised, but the transfer committee at the club are not filling me with confidence on their ability to do the correct business for the club at the moment.
