  1. Two parrots sitting on a perch. One said to the other "Can you smell fish" ?
  2. Northumbria water has been sold today to some one from Hong Kong....a crime in my view.
  3. If the world's richest economies cant provide the wherewithal to provide decent housing educatione etc...we must surely be entitled to ask why.....who has the money that could have provided it and how dd they get it? Personally this debt situation is interesting....not all debt is the same and the Irish property developer was right when interviewed last week. He was able to borrow a million euros on a salary of 25000 euros. Surely the bank must take the hit for that, but they aren't, we are. Not all Greek debt or UK debt is the same....I think it was Indonesia that borrowed to have a nuclear power station built. Unfortunately the power station was built on a fault line and cannot be swuitched on. The question arises, do the people of Indonesia have to pay back the billions it cost or should the bank not be punished for lending the money for an asset that could never realise its value?
  4. You could argue that you have some sort of socialist government in the US, then....if you add people on food stamps etc
  5. The fact is that the US have to pay this debt back...and they can't not without inflicting pain on themselves. Lets see what happens to their society when you have millions of hungry citizens.
  6. I agree with you...sometimes I think a few of the culprits on here should just bugger off
  7. I propose a creating another thread as a sticky on Pompeys finances based on what we know.....transfers of players with dates and next to it Pompeys finances....how much they owed at teh time of each transfer. There must be verifiable information within this thread that could be extracted for such a purpose.
  8. For a second, I thought you meant that China conquered other nations to create a market for their goods, giving back nothing in return. Oh that's what we did in Africa and elsewhere. China makes goods that other countries want and willingly get involved in purchasing. China buys the raw materials it needs from other countries using CASH. There might be a clue there, Dune. I am interested in the US navy's 4th 5th and 6th fleets. Who is paying for these? Is it the US?
  9. China has an empire?
  10. I had my car valeted a few years ago by some Romanians working in a disused gararge in Newbury. Said garage was demolished and is now a Travelodge hotel. I would like to have my car done again....
  11. Great footage, I hadn't seen the Brian Moore interview before. When oh when will we invite Big Ron across to St Mary's? £200 from me into any fund that is formed with the express intention of getting him across to us.....
  12. Apologies for calling you a dickhead, I don't really think that you are.....I really like all the Pompey fans that I have met and a few months ago I went to the funeral of a family member on my wife's side. The lady who had died in her 90s was an example to us all....and she was Pompey through and through. Tell me about the £30 million loan, when was this taken out? Was it before or after the FA cup final? I am angry when I read that the 2 clubs respective administrations are equivalent when its clear that they are not. Why do you think Gaydamark bought Pompey? Why do you think he bank rolled it? Did he get anything in return for doing so?
  13. Repeat after me PFC123...Pompey went bust owing millions (60, I think) having bought players they had no intention of paying for, running up debts they had no intention of paying. Southampton on the other hand went bust having Lloyd James in midfield etc in an attempt to stay afloat in both a footballing and a financial sense....don't be such a dickhead to think that you can make any comparison between the clubs. Your club cheated its way to FA cup glory.....ours didn't.
  14. The parliamentary committee said it was 'disappointed' by the MoD's inability to provide information it asked for about some £12bn worth of write-offs as a result of scrapped equipment. The cost of British military operations in Afghanistan is now officially estimated at more than £18bn, figures released on Thursday show. The cost of imposing a no-fly zone and bombing targets in Libya is so far officially estimated at £260m
  15. I only occasionally read this thread because I can't stand the vitriol dished out by Saints fans most of whom have limted knowledge and low IQs. Occasionally a post like this one, reasoned and well thought out makes reading this thread worthwhile. I can't believe how lightly Pompey have been treated, I can't believe the depths they sank to. A lot of you Saints loonies won't like my next comment either. I work with a few Pompey fans, my wife's family are lifelong Pompey fans....and I have an awful lot of respect for them Most of them say that all they want is their club back. So I don't go in for hating the Pompey fans for what has happened....it must be obvious that most of the activities at the club for the few years before Pompey went into admin were not done by Pompey fans but by those who obviously were not. And to any of the Pompey posters we played by the rules, got into difficulties, cut our cloth and all that...you owners did anything but that. There is no equivalence in the clubs' administration episodes.
  16. No we are leaving, having conquored the country and sorted it all out.....NOT!!! Come on Delldays what's your take on this? My own view is simple, we have spent billions on a war that could have been better spent on us right here at home. I have mislaid an article that gave a so called account of how much Afghanistan cost the country....then there's the human cost too.
  17. IBM X335, I think
  18. Its a bit harsh on Mr Elton...I just think that at that time back in the early 80's the received view of comedians was anti smut etc. Comedy had an intellectual aspect to it, pretty much lacking in Benny Hill. Ben Elton gave us the joke about McDonald's fast food...if it got any faster we'd buy it and flush it straight down the loo. I am a massive Benny Hill fan and was disgusted at the way he was considered and viewed by that in crowd....who is remembered now though eh? Learning all the time.....one of my favourite Benny Hill sketches
  19. Bought an outboard engine whilst ****ed....I don't recall buying it, apparently I paid for it there and then. Also I bid for a classic car after this year's company Xmas party.
  20. Never heard this "cover" before....I had to turn it off.
  21. a mistress is half way between a mister and a mattress
  22. Ahh U2s Rattle and Hum - the album I was listening to one Saturday morning years ago, when my then 2 year old son picked up my mug of boiling black coffee I just placed on the table - said coffee spilt all over his chest, he ended up in hospital and I ended up in the doghouse....I haven't played it since.
  23. I thought that Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower ruined Dylan's version.
  24. Was in shock for a few months, lost loads of weight...thought I'd lose the kids etc etc. Recovered, kept the matrimonial house with loans from family and friends...got divorced, paid back loans. Met my my current wife within a year of the divorce, not looked back since.
